Shimla Solan Road Update NH 22 |

Part of the National Highway Development Phase III, this project involves the conversion of the existing two-lane highway to four lanes. The project stretches from Solan (106+000km) to Shimla (156+507km) of NH-22 section in the state of #himachal Pradesh and falls on a mountainous terrain.
Under the road development program, the existing ROW (right-of-ways) measuring 12 to 24 metres will be widened to 45 metres. There will be new tunnels at four locations, 14 bus bays, a toll plaza and two trucks lay-bye. Presently, there are 185 culverts and this will be eventually increased to 240 with additional 22 bridges. Two bypasses have also been proposed at the major habitations of Kandaghat and Shogi-Shimla-Dhalli.

The only suggestion is that you can try to know the names of the local places e.g you provided the update for "chambaghat" fly over and also bit of "Kandaghat" as well. Unfortunately, Parwanoo to Solan, road has been made in an unscientific way. There are a lot of landslides on this road during rains. I hope NHAI has learnt lessons, and Solan Shimla, road will not have the same fate.

The place with high pillars is - Kandaghat & where the first pillar erected is the location where my childhood home (Govt. residential area) was there, as all the houses below the existing road have been dismantled. Being a Himachali I consider good broad roads are required but needed proper field & soil observation. And technology to prevent landslides & erosion during Monsoon season by damaging minimum forest area.
And I'm sure Shri Nitin Gadkari ji have taken steps to prevent such calamities next time the way it happened in HP during this Monsoon 🙏. Jai Hind 🇮🇳
