I have learned so much about reading the environment from your videos. Very helpful.
We call the old pine roots Pine Knots here in Texas. They are full of pine sap hardened. Will burn even when wet. We use them to start camp fires.

You might not have found gold but there is a female Sasquatch @24:23 when your elbow lines up with the big dark tree trunk past your buddy look straight back and to the right inbetween the two thin dark trees. She's side profile looking same direction you are. If you stamp it and lighten it a bit you can see her way better. Just thought you might want to know you guys have an admirer. ; )

Yep, a ladyslipper is an orchid. One plant can live for over 20 years! From what I can tell, the pink ones like the one you found aren’t endangered in NC. Only the showy ladyslipper which has pink and white petals.

I just bought a new 4 foot folding sluice box and a pan and 2 classifiers and some buckets shovel and pic, im going to go to mineral basin in the Wasatch front just above the salt lake valley! How inspiring you are!!
Ladies Slippers are Orchids, we had pink ones on our 27 acre farm in New Jersey back in the late forties and fifties.
There are also yellow ones which I've never seen.
The Pine Barrens has a lot of rare plants.

Loved the crooked little creek, the gold panning, the iron finds, but most of all I loved that turkey on her nest all hidden away, and the lady slipper flower. We have a type of lady slipper here too but much smaller. What were the white flowers you got pictures of, that looked like some type of lily? They were pretty. Thanks for another fine Chigg adventure, it looked like a nice sunny day!
I live in Minnesota and have not seen a pink (state flower) lady slipper, but I have some yellow ones on my property just back in the woods. Awesome plants. Fun video Chigg.
Beau, you should head out to California and do some crevasse panning with TwoToes. He is quite the man! Think you two would hit it off just fine. He also seems to like digging around in those old mining camps and checking out the mines themselves.

You guys might be on the trail of something neat. Me my wife and kid were adventuring and prospecting last summer and came across a few lady slippers. My daughter wanted to bring it home for the flower bed, but was disappointed when I told her we had to leave it because it was special.

Lol YEEEHAAAA some on has gold fever great video get back in that creek and pan the upstream sir where the tracks crossed it those boulders will have slowed the water down BEFORE the rocks creating a low pressure zone could be 2 feet could be 5 feet or even ten feet before the track crossing and get down to the material sitting on the clay layer if there’s gold there you’ll find it
Hey man thank you for the video I enjoyed it and that is the one thing about exploring you never know what you're going to find sometimes you leave empty-handed but at least you had a nice day out there and you got some exercise so something good does come out of it even if you did not find anything
Wish my teenage boys would be more interested in doing more outdoor stuff, like I did when I was their age.
My youngest brother is about to turn 19. He's more into supreme branded clothing and air Jordan's than doing anything outside. His last girlfriend wanted to go hunting and that got him interested for last deer season, but that was about it. I hope more young folks turn back towards the outdoors, rather than living inside in front of a screen.
Take them out on a camping weekend once in a while.

I would look for a vein of quarts running along in there somewhere not necessarily in the creek. Break it up and dig alongside each one of those and see if you get anything.

The Tramway rail nails are a good sign for sure, can't see what else they'd be used for right there. But since the whole forest burnt flat down or up, there could be some old wooden Mine carts about or at the processing plant..? =)

Back in the day when my family went out and spent the weekend camping by a fishing stream. USIA.ly there was a smaller stream. I spent my day playing in the little one and building dams with the rocks.
I have to admit all I wanted was for the Chigg to stay in that creek and metal detect.

I don't own a Garrett pin-pointer, maybe one day soon. Would you be able to use your pin-pointer inn your pan to see if it had ANY gold in it? If this works, it seems it would eliminate all un necessary panning. Thereby allowing you to pan more area in the amount of time you have. Greatening the chances of finding gold. Just a question.

*I have a question* I bought 50lbs of magnetite sand. I looked under a magnifier and I can see tons of very very tiny specks of gold. is it possible to pan gold that small or do they dissolve it? I was thinking about using some marijuana hash bags and see if I can find the micron the gold is at then possibly collect it like hash... do you think the hash bag idea is possible?
Heat, mercury & a little borax. Don't know about the hash mesh but worth a first try as long as you don't loose the light stuff. Good luck!
