Please don’t do the Hipshot trem. Try something new, like Super-Vee if you can get them involved 🤔. And see if you like the Planet Waves trim-lock tuners, those are way cool. For something really wacky, you could try the Fender LSR roller nut.

I bought this guitar in Jan. when it was advertised $104.00. I received it in five days through FedEx. The first time is strummed the strings, nothing but buzz. The neck was over bowed. All it took was 3/4 of a turn on the nut.
The quality of materials and especially the fit and finish is a rare find . The nut was cut perfect, the frets were finished nicely the paint job , the budget electronics.....Monoprice is doing a fantastic job. BTW, it was strung with D'addario 9's. This has been one of the most valuable purchases I've made.Give the guys a chance, you'll probably be surprised.

As for what I would want you to mod this guitar with, I would like to see you throw some Seymour Duncan Pickups in it considering they aren't as common of a feature on your channel, and that they have much more singlecoil options compared to other brands you have featured (plus, you have already featured Fishman singles on the channel).
As far bridges go, either Fender or Hipshot, maybe give Grover tuners a chance, and of course you should include the typical GraphTech appointments.

What would I do with it? Since it seems to play pretty well without tinkering, after replacing the tuners with locked tuners (a set of Hipshot grip-locks go for $60-70), I'd add an Adafruit Macropad ($50) wired to a MIDI interface. Little bit of RGB Bling that takes you into the world of MIDI, which is very rare for a guitar. And, since it's now MIDI, you can cook your signal as dirty and nasty as you want, spice it up, or make it so chill you need space heaters to keep playing. Imagine: Stepping out for your epic guitar solo, you punch the button and suddenly your Axe sounds like a flute, but still plays like a guitar, you're producing sounds no actual flute in the world can match. The audience is expecting Metallica, and get their minds blown by sounds they've never heard before, by sounds that were impossible before. And all that for under $300? Not bad at all...

I got one. It's good after a set up and other NUMEROUS FIXES. And the saddles are absolute garbage. So those got replaced immediately. Frets ends were sharp and un even. Lots of fret buzz and fret out. Had to file and level the frets. Fingerboard edges were not rolled in the slightest. Had to roll the finger board edges myself. The pickups are pretty good. But this guitar has been sold out and on back order since January 2022. So good luck trying to buy one from Monoprice. The only reason I got one is because I got a scratch and ding return from their amazon store. So yeah, if you don't know how to do a setup or level frets/dress MAJOR fret sprout, take it to a luthier. Change the saddles and have the frets dressed. Then it will end up being a good $250 guitar 😂

I ordered one of these models a few days ago in Sunburst. Curious what amp and/or distortion/overdrive pedal you played through. Nice demo and well done.

I dunno, maybe slap in an evertune, fishmans and some locking tuners? Stainless refret if you're feeling extra juicy? 😄

maybe the price increases just havent hit the UK yet but the prices here seem the same as they were 2-3 years ago atleast, for example a squier bullet is still £119 ($155), i will say the used stuff is more expensive than it was though, no more £300 mim strats thats for sure

Cheap guitars have come along way..and to be honest .it's mostly brand names your paying for..I have a jay turser sg and it's my baby and it's better and cooler than most expensive ones .I mean it's not as good as a 3000dolkar guitar but the difference is jst details

I think the pickups sounded pretty good, tonally balanced, not noisy. And, what does it matter these days, as with a good Mode!er you can pretty much make it sound like what you want. How is the "sustain" on the guitar?

Do you have a Jaguar or Jazzmaster to compare it to? I am wondering if the pickguard from a Jaguar would line up since the bodies are apparently identical

Do you think a gfs dream 180 in the bridge can be better? Or a Nashville?

If the neck heavy or is it a balance thing? I’m not sure why people believe in that term, I guarantee if you put the neck on a scale and the body that the body on any solid bodied guitar will be at minimum 2 to 3 times heavier. I also guarantee no neck weighs more than a loaded body ( wood, pickups, bridge, hardware).

Any thoughts on the FGN bos2ghh? On the specs it's nothing impressive, it has locking tuners tho and it's made in Japan for 600 euros, I played one a week ago in a guitar store, and it was so good, really thinking about upgrading my 200euro epiphone for that

This or a squier jazzmaster affinity? For a first electric guitar.
