    Actually on the mta's channel, they explain how the cars are different widths and how the bmt and ind can't fit into an irt station and how an irt car can fit but the gap is dangerously wide.

    I just wonder where does the Express track start at? I think it starts from 8 Avenue to 86 Street. And how come the N train never uses it? Not during midday weekend construction or due to slow traffic. And I LOVVVVVVEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD the way the R188 ran super express like the Amtrak.

      Andrew Campbell express tracks skips 8th ave to 86 st, running from 59th street to coney island. the center tracks are used for testing equipment or for transporting trains. because it skips the entire sea beach line, it's kind of useless for customers and besides, the southbound express track is disconnected from the system.

      Andrew Campbell There was an NX Express that ran years ago, in 1967.The train ran from Ocean Parkway on the Brighton line, to Stillwell Ave/Coney Island. At that point the train ran on the N express tracks to 59th Street and 4th Ave. It went all the way to 57th St. in Manhattan, making only a few stops. Because of low ridership, the service was phased out in 1968.

    I agree the express track is stupid what the is the good of having an express track that goes from 59th st to 86th st with only one cut off from the express track to the local track before the kings highway station smh shame on mta

      The BMT wanted a way to just go from Manhattan and the original part of Brooklyn to Coney Island without intermediate stops.

    • @andychen7390
      @andychen7390 Před 9 lety +1

      Donnall Greene irt, bmt and ind tracks are the same width. however, bmt and ind trains cannot fit in irt stations.

    • @donnallgreene1378
      @donnallgreene1378 Před 9 lety

      Oh they should start putting irt trains on BMT and Ind lines BC they really need it that r160 ain't that cool

    • @andychen7390
      @andychen7390 Před 9 lety +3

      Donnall Greene it's impossible. the irt train models are narrower, which means the gap between the train and platform would be too dangerous.
