The problem with planetary exploration was they under developed the Suits.
Most suits max around 20% resistance. They should have had min resistance of like 50% for their targeted resistance. With high end suits having 90+ % resistance.
Then also have added IN ALL LANDING BAYS. Suit storage. So you could head down to your landing bay put on the correct suit and opened the door.
That would have fixed the entire problem.

Interesting.... Ive watched TONS of reviews and most are negative.. Saying game is mediocore or just plain boring.. Seems like bethesda game design is extremely outdated.. • @StationaryEarth
      @StationaryEarth Před 11 měsíci

@@johnnyflannigan136 The game design is not outdated, it is just poorly executed for this title (and that is a profound understatement). Most of the core attributes of previous Bethesda games are completely absent in Starfield.
Bethesda has never written a compelling questline in any of their games. The essence of a classic Bethesda game is found in their meticulously crafted world spaces that allow the player to immerse themselves in an interconnected world. There is an incredible sense of wonderment that comes from the limitless direction and outcomes that exploration can take the player. The player doesn't need to follow any questline, just wander through the enchanting landscapes and the player will be rewarded with discoveries of unique locations, NPCs and items. All of that is brought about in a completely organic, natural sequence of exploration and discovery.
There is exactly NONE of that in Starfield
I, unfortunately, have put in over 100 hours into this game and I can say with certainty that it is one of the worst games I have ever played. It is the first Bethesda title that I disliked so completely that I cannot bring myself to finish the game. I will never play it again.
Far from rewarding the player for "exploration", the game mocks and humiliates the player for even attempting to explore any of the planets. What do I mean by that?
By my 25th hour of play time, I had already seen an exact copy of EVERY facility at least seven or eight times regardless of what planet I was on. Yes, seven or eight times. No matter where you go, there are only three or four facilities that will be generated by the game (even for primary quest lines). Almost every "cave" was not only EMPTY (which was about ninety nine percent of them), but there are only two or three iterations of caves that will be generated on EVERY planet. You will walk for several minutes chasing down a location icon only to find that it is a completely empty, one room cave. That is not an exaggeration. This happened time after time, after time, after time, after time.
From the 30hr mark onwards, I did not even bother to explore a single location that was not directly related to a quest. The quests are unimaginative and predictable, and because there is no exploration, you are just railroaded into fast travelling to the designated locations to complete the quest.
Because there is no continuity between any of the locations, the game feels extremely small and claustrophobic. Its as though you are opening and closing a bunch of disconnected closets. Skyrim feels 100 times larger in comparison because there is continuity between all the locations.
Play it if you must, but Starfield is the absolute opposite of "Skyrim in space" or "Fallout in space". Just be prepared.

As far as the suits go...I think they should have configured the mechanics to allow one to MOD the suit to meet all conditions instead of swapping out multiple suits. I've been using the "Mantis Suit" the whole time because it allows you to carry more items. I know the "Skill Points" will allow this as well, but it is a tremendous undertaking to acquire the points. They need to work on changing the mechanics in this area. I did not opt for a main end game choice ( no spoilers ! ). So I am now left with "Oh what do I do next ? " yes I do concur with this from one of the commentators on the video. I spent 188 hours in Starfield, yes a marathon not a sprint as some good folks commented below. I enjoyed every minute, ( putting aside some of the bugs and glitches which did not spoil my gameplay ), very immersive I thought with an excellent and amazing ! story. However I feel at an impasse now. I realy only have about 6 activites to do outside of the completed main story. I did not opt for the game plus option. I guess I can go build an outpost or explore more planets etc. but that option kinda feels like a grind. It needs the hardcore Suits development to make exploration more lifelike and arduous. Definitley needs more story DLC to knit things together. Its the story telling element, for me personally that kept me playing for hours and hours. Yes of course there are still random NPC's on planets with a side quest to do etc. Like most players I will continue to explore more planets, or perhaps build more ships in the fun ship builder and await the next DLC. I am sure with the success of Starfield we will receive some added elements that extend the existing main story, and of course new enemies and protagonists. Thank you.

The fact that you can't really just fly and land wherever you want, but set a landing spot and automatically lands there just sort of leaves me with the feeling that flying a spacecraft is just more or less useless. Its a new IP new world new lore. The reason skyrim and fallout have more pull for multipl plays is cause of a long history in the series. They should release mod tools now as already mods are being made that make the game better.

    • @Dathemyr
      @Dathemyr Před 11 měsíci +2

I think the reason the Creation Kit isn't out yet, is so that it could be finished properly. Starfield's a big game with a lot of differences in how its world works. Skyrim, and presumably Fallout as well, I wouldn't know I've never played any of the FO games, has the same world every single time, whereas Starfield has randomized world gen in each universe. The exact positions of some elements, the particular squares on a planet, etc, will not always be absolutely the same. So in Skyrim, if you wanted to, as an example, add a new terrain feature, you could just add it. However, with Starfield, you'd need to likely create it as a structure that would be inserted into compatible land sections, and be added to the pool of possible terrain squares that are chosen when you land in random positions on different planets. As a result, the creation kit has to be completely different than previous ones, due to the random element. Because of that, there's then different bugs that need worked out to make sure smooth operation, as this is a developer tool and not something that can be patched easily by users. I'm sure, considering that, that Bethesda has a very good reason for why the modding tools won't be out until 2024.

I'm 74, been playing video games for 12 year's. My muscle memory, is getting worse and worse as the year's go by. And the larger and larger learning curves are becoming harder and harder. Felt almost overwhelmed at first by the scale but then after spending some time into it you realize that the entire game could be in Sol and the universe is mostly empty. 8 or so cities, 5 or so factions. When you first start off you imagine there is at least one city if not 2 or 3 in each system and it's like "wow, I don't even know where to go". Then you go places and realize almost anywhere you go there isn't anything too meaningful (maybe a distress signal and that's the only quest in the entire system or nothing at all most of the time). And regarding the direction of the game, I think Bethesda is counting on modders more than is healthy for their gamers base. I love the game but I hate the mods and I don't think the majority of the gamers prefer to download some shady files to "enhance" their game based on the likes and dislikes of a modder.
I think they should start making QOL updates soon because the fan base is shrinking fast (based on what I see on steamDB). I played the game for over 300 hours without any mods or exploits and I'm getting really bored of basically grinding. The more you play it, the more you get annoyed by the lack of sense in the skill tree for medicine, food and many others. Not to mention the bugged quests that you can't finish because your target isn't there (ECS Constant for example) I don't see the sense of "fuel" when you can fast travel without any problem regardless of how much your ship has. And the sense of armor, when I played half of the game with the mantis suit and half (and still) with the xeno terminator suit you get when starting a mission.
The level scaling is almost zero. Except for the quest money reward that increases. At level 80 you can stand in front of any boss and just let him kill himself by your mirrored damage suit. Not to mention that on the bounty hunting missions, the ships you get are some level 4 ships that you can destroy just by ramming into them while you got a maxed out ship.
The base building right now is complicated and unrewarding. I already have like 4 mil of credits, the best weapons and armor in game and the best ship you can build without using mods or exploits, I visited all the systems and scanned most of the "habitable" worlds, so why do I need anything else? What's else to do? I keep playing this game out of inertia and probably will stop playing it after a new tv show is launched or anything else to draw my attention. And I don't think I'm the only one thinking like this.

Definitely need a hardcore mode, as it is the game is too easy even on the hardest setting. That said, they need to double vendor money and increase your starting carry weight to 200 imo.

Acquiring CREDITS and SKILL POINTS needs to be fixed ASAP! I've played a lot of games like this, and I haven't seen a system like this in a looooonnnnngggg time! It takes LEAP YEARS to obtain CREDITS and SKILL POINTS! The credits offered for selling items is TRASH too!!! Item are expensive to purchase, and instantly turn into trash when you want to sell them. I truly love playing this game, but this seriously needs to be addressed.

I wasn't talking about mods, I was just commenting on aspects of the game as it is that I dislike. Of course, mods can solve most any problem. It always amazes me though that a developer like this can't just give us an insanity mode that really tests a player's ability.@@SpiderAnt2018

If you look at starfield it's filled with Cut content, you can see it in the HABS which seems useless but in a DLC it's gonna be manned by crews you will have battle ships etc.
Todd purposely bring out a bare minimum outdated game, to milk it as much as possible. Why the game feels so bland, incomplete, rushed, empty copy paste planets is just because of that.
He promotes "open world" but is filled with invisible walls and loading screens. No ingame maps, no interaction in ship flying or space exploration such as "mining/EVA" and so on.
The skills, weapons, traits and such is bland and boring. Choices in the game have 0 impact in the game. Heck the game sets up in a distance future, but all the weapons = outdated i mean even in Cyberpunk 2077 has more futureristic weapons and implants then in starfield ??? And starfield is set about 200 years in the future.
    Bethesda game plan is:
    1. waiting for modding community to make it a good game
    2. milk more money of the new IP.

    First, I’m on Xbox.
What I would like to see is:
The ability to compare weapons with like owned weapons, not just the one equipped. I find myself constantly switching around just to be able to see if I have the best one. Especially on ship components! It’s either better or worse in the view but I want to see how much better it is. If the fire rate or hull damage is +4, not just an arrow saying it’s better or worse.
Also the galaxy view is awful. I can’t locate a planet because the name doesn’t show up so I’m constantly trying to find a planet by scrolling across every single one. There should be a way to look at all the systems and subview of the planets in that system, if you’ve landed on them or not and list of all your outposts and locations.
Also more side lengthy side quests like with the crimson fleet. Im sure a DLC will drop with more of that.
Also one key thing a lot of space games miss, is the ability to cut the engines of the ship and rotate while still floating in the same direction when you cut the engines. It dramatically changes combat and is much more realistic. I played Chorus, and you unlock an ability to do that but it made the combat control so much more fun.

    • @niaralosusa
      @niaralosusa Před 11 měsíci +1

Exactly. That would be amazing. Some contagion may also require you to stay in the hospital for much longer perhaps months at a time.
Also they should add a mode where if you don’t clip your toenails regularly they could become infected and then you can’t walk and you would die within an hour without the appropriate medical treatment on one of the most remote planets in the entire system.
Other survival/realism modes could include: if you don’t brush and floss your teeth twice per day your teeth rot so you can’t eat anything so you die; you get exotic diseases with no cure so you die; a mode where enemies one shot kill you every time; a real time sleep mode where you’re forced to sleep eight hours in real time or you die; an eyesight affliction mod where your eyes go blurry and you have to try to find the optician so that you can get an eye exam or else you won’t be able to see anything and die; you must wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitizer or else you can spread germs that will kill you.
      Sound like fun, huh?

TL;DR: Game wasn't worth 70 bucks, do better Bethesda.
Disclaimer: Don't at me; this is simply a critique from and my own personal feelings on the game. If you don't agree with me; that's fine. I'm super happy that you're satisfied and/or happy with the game.
Does anyone else feel like this game could have all taken place on a single planet? Like, yeah, you still go out and do your thing in space; just that the 'limited' content is spread out across all these different worlds. That there just isn't enough content to justify all of this... vastness?
Honestly, and this is just my take, this game could have been done better with a central hub, and maybe five or six different planets that you travel to and from.
Neon could have been a space station.
Crimson fleet having a central location didn't make sense to me.
UC and FC could have been lore without the vast, empty, worlds they claim.
The maps may be larger, but they're empty.
The radiant quests are just empty 1990's mmo fetch quests.
The outpost system should have been 'build your own space station' with meaningful NPC's that go out and prospect for you to link your station to vital resources.
The economy system is empty and broken, only balanced by having shops with limited money and gate kept by an obnoxious research system.
Only four meaningful companions that feel poorly written?
C'mon, after 8 years of waiting and purchasing remaster after remaster to support the studio... this is what we get? Something subpar even to Fallout 76 at launch?
    This entire game feels lazy.
Doesn't feel like this is 8 years' worth of dev time.
That being said, I am excited for the mod tools to drop. So, once again, the modding community can save a Bethesda Game from its developers.

While I'm pissed off, I'll also say, relationships with crewmates suck & are unfinished. You can only romance 4. Most of the side quests to do are boring & the best you can expect is to get a comment if said person is in your party when you take a nap to fill up your health Instead of getting laid. EVEN IF YOU MARRY THEM & listen to their whining throughout the game. Also, NPC's are all assholes & the ones that have names are unkillable. The other fact is that planets are dead. No big surprises. No side quests. Just scanning stuff for a paltry amount of credits given the time spent. I'm at level 52 with 1.5 million credits & can buy anything in the game.

While playing through this morning, several times when entering the Key, Andreja commented on how it was nice to be on the ship again, as if you had just returned to your ship. I can also confirm that on steam version, they removed the vendor loot boxes. You can still get to the area they used to be in, but the boxes are moved, probably far enough into the terrain that the player can not target them.
