Awesome rifle for the GEN2 Once stripped and rebuilt, works great with a huma regulator 👌 Out of the box the stock gun was a miserable 9 ft/lbs with a wide FPS spread, but once tuned got it to 11.6 ft/lbs with H&N Barracuda 18 .22, and low fps spread.
Removed the metal baffles in the shroud and installed curler/felt wraps and 8mm washers for 3 chambers, adapter and a K3 NEO silencer with another 3 chambers, for a total of 6 Silencer chambers, result is whisper quiet.
Shroud air stripper holes at the back as near the barrel front is loud.
Front of barrel is an air stripper with o-ring, secure the barrel very well in the shroud 👍
Outstanding rifle that is laser accurate, quality bit of kit 👌

Nice review! Some tips (from P15 owner) to achieve full potential of this little rifle:
    1. Clean the barrel realy good for the first time because it is full of brown rust preventer. When you think it is clean, clean it once again and DO NOT use any kind of brushes (only rope and cotton with Ballistol)
    2. Use single shot tray to prevent those "flyers" because they are most probably product of damaged pellet skirts. Magazines tend to do that because in most cases pellets are not aligned with barrel breech when transfering from magazine.
    3. Use JSB Heavy pellets (in both, 4.5mm and 5.5mm), those barrels seems to like them
    4. Change the shroud buffles because they are "universal" on this rifle (up to .25 caliber). I made new ones on 3D printer for .22 caliber and difference in sound volume is significant.

      Fantastic comment ddarkfly.
As with a few of the SMK air rifles we get in I'm sure that this rifle will also be full of the packing grease (more like tar!). I intentionally do not modify any rifle that I review as I like to review them in the same condition as you would get them as you first take it out of the box.
Regarding the shot tray again you're bang on the money regarding shot consistency in comparison to the mag, I did the review with the mag however as most people will shoot with the mag instead of the shot tray despite the bonus consistency that the shot tray gives.
About the pellets I was actually told by SMK themselves before I ordered them in that the barrels and twist rate have been designed for higher power levels and they themselves also recommended a heavier pellet. I find that usually the H&N/Remington Baracudas tend to give exceptional results with the Artemis rifles but unfortunately during the time of the review neither I nor SMK had any in stock! Luckily the standard JSB 4.52's seemed to group really well in that particular P15.
Thanks for the comment mate it's great to hear from someone that owns one and I'm sure many will appreciate the tips.

I was not satisfied with the performance of the original magazine so i designed new one i made it on 3D printer. It is seven pellets magazine with empty magazine signalization (you can't close cocking lever), very easy to load. You can see short video of loading process here:
      czcams.com/video/l8gNs-KP1Mw/video.html
I have tested them and i am very happy with the performance.

I'm just an awkward bugger Philip mate, it was a little on the small side but it was a bit too light on the front end for my tastes as well as I'm more used to shooting my 97 which is a bit of a monster compared to the P15 regarding weight. Even so though it grouped pretty phenomenally considering that I couldn't hold the thing still!

Thanks again Dave I'll get it added to the list, I'm racking up quite a tally of new rifles to look out for now so I'll get on to them as soon as I can.
The P10 is indeed heavier than the P15 but when testing them for customers one thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was how the cocking bolt is right at the rear of the action making it an even fussier affair to use than the P15.
The P10 is a very accurate little rifle though and it's interesting to see the improvements from the P10 to the P15. The last P10 I had in was the .25 version and that was tremendous fun.

Hi Dan great review I'm after a bullpup and I'm either going for the p15 or the zabrioa kosak FC what I'm a honest opinion do you think of them

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Před 5 lety +4

      Hey mate!
That's a hard one.. both have their strengths and weaknesses.
When it comes to accuracy they're both as good as each other which is bloody exceptional.
Regarding shot count the P15 pips the Kozak, the standard Kozak's are good for around 150 full power shots whereas officially the P15 will soldier on to 180.. during my testing however it isn't uncommon for a P15 to go on to well over 200!
Looks are subjective but if we're being honest the Kozak walks all over the P15. They're a really eye catching little rifle and the P15's stock is almost like it's a prototype stock that never got finished.
Another advantage for the Zbroia is that the trigger is slightly more crisp (although the P15 unit is still pretty darn good) and the new Kozaks are internally baffled and threaded for a silencer at the same time.
The P15 however is much lighter.. it's possibly the lightest air rifle I've ever shouldered. The Kozak isn't heavy by any means but if weight is an issue then the P15 storms ahead.
Another thing worth looking at is reliability.. the Artemis rifles since their barrel/reg update are absolutely bomb proof. The Zbroias are receiving their own updated action with the next batch but the previous bunch we had suffered with a few leaks and mag cycling issues and even with the new batch we'll be holding them back a week to make sure that everything is A-ok with the rifles before we hand them over.
I personally at the moment prefer the P-15 simply because the design seems to be perfected now and I've yet to get a single Artemis rifle returned to me since they've been upgraded. Plus if you're into tinkering you can truly transform them into any rifle you want. The Kozak is prettier and has a fantastic trigger but the reliability lets it down.
Cheers mate and sorry for the huge answer.

I agree with almost everything you've said, but I'd have to defend the Kozak on shot count. STD fill 250 bar, and can be filled to 300...though even I don't recommend it, the regs are not great, and prone to creep, much like most knife edge design regs.

I'm curious to understand why you say that with the .22 and .25 you would get more sots ?
Maybe in UK you have the 12 ft-lb (about 16J) limit ... which mans you are shooting at constant power regardless of the pellet weight. So the bigger diameter projectiles will accelerate down the barrel more efficiently giving you a slightly better shot count ?
I would like to buy one of these puppies in .22 caliber. If I have choice over pellet diameter which one would be a good starting point:
    Diablo exact 5.50, 5.51 or 5.52 ?

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Před rokem

      Hi Louigi!
You get a better shot count due to the .25/.22 pellets needing less air to reach the 12ft-lbs limit due to the increased weight.
I'd choose 5.51 to begin with personally. Go for the one in the middle.

      Hey mate,
Thanks for the comment, it's no secret that I'm an RFD however I also do my best to bring attention to any potential issue that can be found on any particular rifle. In this review itself I even say that the rifle is far too light for my own tastes and I also make sure to mention reliability concerns with the BSA Superten and what I consider to be design flaws such as the Artemis M30's oversized pellet probe housing that is begging for a pellet to fall back and jam the action.
I'll even throw in my hat regarding certain rifles looks like with the Artemis M16D and the Milbro Target Master with its ugly "this is not a toy!" warning stamped into the stock of all places.. I also tested the bipod that came with it to prove just how silly they are on a spring rifle.
I like to be as honest as possible in my reviews and I even state in my final verdict section that "no rifle is perfect" and I then try and pick the rifle apart for what lets it down or could potentially be disappointing for certain buyers.
Thanks for the comment though mate and if there's any area of the review you'd like me to improve on then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Regarding the flyers I'll take that as a compliment haha, no but in all seriousness although this won't change your mind I can say very confidently that the flyers where most definitely because of me, as mentioned in the video I'm used to shooting my nose heavy HW97 and so shooting something that was not only feather light but had a weight bias favouring the rear over the front was giving me a few issues with holding the rifle steady. Plus I've got pretty long arms and Bullpups have never suited me whether it be a P10, P15, Kozak or a Galahad.. they just feel like toys in my opinion.
There are plenty of posts online showing what these little rifles are capable of with the standard barrel and they're well worth a look before you put in a new barrel, if you get one mate give it a thorough clean and then put it through its paces I think you'll be surprised as to what the P15's can do.

      Hey mate,
A six year old shouldn't have too much of a problem with the P15 as they're light as a feather and the side lever action is easy to use. The only concern would be that they don't have a cheekpiece so it may feel a little awkward until they get used to it.
The mags could prove slightly fiddly to begin with as well mate but it doesn't take long to adjust to them and you've always got the single shot tray to fall back on if the mags cause an issue.
Another one worth looking at could be the Zbroia Kozak as they have a proper adjustable cheekpiece built in but they are slightly heavier. Have a look around and let us know how you get on.

p15 straight out of the box is worse than Turkish carbines. The barrel needs to be corrected, the regulator needs to be adjusted, the magazines bend the pellets, the o-rings are often incorrectly positioned and release the air, the trigger is too hard. Transferport needs to be extended and the stock is too short. This gun is a real ordeal,.

We never had any P-15's that didn't work out of the box but I do agree that they need tweaking to really get their potential. In the UK the TP is usually only 1.5mm whilst the reg is set at a whopping 150bar. After experimenting with opening the port and setting the reg at a much lower pressure not only is it much nicer to shoot but the shot count doubled!

      Hi Atta,
Regarding the comments about the cylinders and such it'd be interesting to hear where they come from as the cylinder itself is actually titanium so there's very little chance that it will explode unless you intentionally overfill the rifle (at which point any air cylinder will explode).
The P15's are actually very well made little rifles and if you join the Artemis owners group on Facebook you'll see just what they're capable of.
Regarding reliability the P15's are actually very good and actually outperform many of our more expensive brands that we stock.
Buy new if you can so even then you'll still get a warranty just in case anything does go wrong but I'm quite confident that you'll be fine.
