Strength by far is one of my all time favorite albums and it represented the dawn of a new era for John P. Kee & NLCC, Show Up was the end of an era of work he was doing. Strength was something new and different, it was still the “John P. Kee sound” but it had evolved and he was a pastor in ministry full time by this point so when you listen that pastoral spirit comes across in his writings and even on stage. Pastor Kee said in an interview around the post “Show Up” era that he was retiring from the industry to focus on pastoring but his pen was still hot and out of that came two records, “Stand” (1996, V.I.P.) and “Strength” (1997, New Life) need I say more? 💯❤️ #theMaster #PrinceofGospelMusic
I wish gospel was still like this today!
That was awesome!!! Thanks for sharing :)
I wish Gospel music would get back to this.
Me too. I really do
I also wish that they would bring gospel music back like this myself. This new stuff and wrapping has got to go!
So do I man!
I love how Pastor Kee always makes that smirk when he knows the whole band/choir on fire before he comes in 😂😂🔥🔥 it never gets old!
This has always been one of the sickest (meaning most incredible) gospel songs I’ve ever heard. There is so much going on from the choir, to JP’s ad lib, to the funk by the musicians, to the lyrics, to the Holy Ghost just erupting out of the song. As a Christian and keyboardist, this song just brings me to the throne of God!
This album literally gets played everyday still in 2021 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow! That band was AWESOME!
The drummer 🥁 is Lit!!! And the keyboard players, horn section & bass are jammin’!! Love John P. Kee and NLCC. It’s 2018 and his music is still the bomb! Thank you Lord for great musicianship and singers! 😊💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

It’s crazy to know that the Strength album was originally going to be titled Thursday Love. I can’t remember why the title changed but either way, this is by far the best album of John and New Life to me. Every song on hear speaks volumes. Even down to how the crowd responds throughout the album was phenomenal. You can feel the fellowship.
We share the same insight bro...Check out the response tho. Yes this is definitely in John's top 5

Me too. Still jamming to it 25 years later.
Excellent band and choir. John P. Kee musical genius.
The band def. studied Gap Band's Alive and Well CD from 1996 while arranging this project (they've said so lol) because they are taking gap's grooves and SLAYING THEM through thru this entire concert. I broke my VHS tape rewinding this groove.
Oh John P Kee was a concert musician for the Gap Band and other secular groups before he got saved as a young man..He loves Charlie Wilson and channeled a lot of his vocal riffs live back then
Yes they rock those old school jamz
Rodney Davis the Gap an Charlie is still the the one.yup

I remember that one of my altos was tripped as she went up the steps. And I'll never forget this day as long as I live. It was a Thursday night, and it's where the song "Thursday Love" [from the Strength album] came from."

Wow! The bassist still plays for his band as at October 2018. Talk about loyalty!
C S No he doesn’t. It’s been at least 20 years since Maurice Fitzgerald has played regularly for John P. Kee
His current bass player is Morgan Turner.
I love your worship and praise takes me right into His presence. Thank you soooooooo much for sharing. May God continually bless you.
I know this is late but here is the interview where he talks about the title:
Five years ago, when I publicly announced [my retirement] at the Stellar Awards, I meant it with every piece of fibre in me. I'll tell you [the background to that]. I was at a Gospel event in the country, and I'd just written "Stand", and a group of artists, my peers, were backstage, and they began to laugh and mock my choir.
My goodness, Maurice Fitzgerald is showing off on bass!
Maurice o m g
ooo nice! love this song!!!!
@kadeemgraves naa bruh, John Kee has said in more than one song that he got saved (life got turned around) "late one Saturday night"
I pondered the same thing and it's my view that he is singing about Jesus' Death, interpreting that he died on a Thursday and rose on Sunday morning (hence being in the grave for 3 consecutive days and nights)... this is not doctrine, just my plausible thought process! God Bless...
APUReunion2012 actually it was about the great love Christ had on Thursday to still go through the decision to die on Friday in spite of the loneliness and apprehension he was feeling. 😉
je serai bien content davoir sa en france

Ladall Abrams 💯
Is the name of this song really Thursday Love?
LOL yep. I'm here in 2019 too.
Thursday was the day that Jesus solidified he was going to go through with dying on the cross the next day Friday.
It was actually worse than that one of the altos (don't know which, but it was one in the video) was tripped while walking upstairs backstage at the awards.
I love this to but let's not put gospel music in an box 😅
Dac
APUReunion2012 that is sound doctrine.. he was in the grave 3 nights and 3 days... Good Friday is a lie
Domonic Ricks this song was made about the day he fell in love with god on a Thursday. Hence the title.
