REMEMBER THIS IS NOT A MADE DECISION - no horses are sold or even for sale yet. Since filming this video we may have found a solution that could be beyond exciting not just for Luke, the horses and I but also for YOU guys! I just want to share my life as it happens because let’s face it… I’m a chronic over sharer and you guys are basically my best friends at this point, there are no secrets.
Being a horse girl isn’t all sunshine and roses… it’s challenging in so many ways and I wouldn’t be honest with you guys if I only shared the ‘aesthetic’ parts.
As soon as I know what’s happening next I promise there will be an update on this situation ❤

This is a realistic consideration for owning multiple horses. People joke about going broke on behalf of their horses or animals but that’s objectively irresponsible. Hard decisions have to be made, we just do our diligence and what is best for the horse.

We have a farm in Round mountain NSW and our neighbours neighbour is about to put there farm on the market. It is about 25 acres and there is a house on the block. Anyway would be so amazing if you could move up here! 🐴

Dear Amber, our life with horses is long. I am 68, and have a horse or two since a houngster. But at times I had to sell and not have any as circumstances required. I found I had horses in 7 year cycles. It worked for me and my horses. I last went 15 years without when I moved to Alaska. Now I enjoy two. More than enough, on a horse property, to boot. Just know you can do what you must for your life circumstances and it is okay to live with a sense of freedom and calmness.
It's really admirable that you're even considering selling the horses. It's very considerate of you to think about them, Luke & Brumby ❤️ so many people would struggle and drag others down with them for selfish reasons

a few months ago I had such a huge confidence knock to the point where I didn’t even want to go to the bar T o see the horsss any and that’s when I found your channel. You were so funny and kind and I loved watching your get ready with Mes, your jumping videos and all the above and you inspired me to get back on horses and start to enjoy it. I 100 respect your decision as they are totally are your horses and that’s that. I will be sad if you do make the decision but it wouldn’t compare to what you’re feeling but whatever you decide to do we are totally going to support you❤️

Well, now, dear. This is your friend from Colorado. I'm old. Old old. Experience and arthritis, I've got. And a cane or two to walk with. I, also, share more than anyone wants to hear, but I will anyway.
You're inadvertantly piling too much on yourself. Marriage, New Baby Brumby, keeping your plans in tact with how you use your horses, to lease or not to lease, and moving everything to somewhere else...the pressures come all at once. So, make a list of everything you are facing right now. You can figure out the priorities when you see them written down. What is at the top of the list? What can move to a lower spot? What must be elevated to a higher spot? Then, list every expense you can think of, involved with each one. Top priorities are shelter, food and water, clothing. Our animals are lateral children, I get that. But I feel you fully understand that, as well. Separate things...what can you do, even if you don't like to? What can you simply NOT do? What is the ultimate goal? What is the first step to take? Is there some skill you can add? Like embroidering pillow cases to sell or making jams and jellies? (Gag...neither could I. 🤢)
You can do this. It's called "life" and you are capable. Thinking about what could happen does not bring it into reality. Only lots of work following a good plan, does that. Be flexible, plan up the wazoo but then, do what you can.
OMGG NOT WINZ AND SWAYZEEE BOY 😭😭😭 i 100% respect your decision though horses are incredibly expensive and there is a hay shortage as well making the hay prices skyrocket, horses are also very time consuming and a full time job and sport, jeeping them in work is a big job so i get where you are coming from..i hope you are doing ok about it though ❤
If you’re keeping Veludo, I would keep Winnie as well as a buddy for him and there’s the bonus of Winnie being able to stay calm and trusting with you, his safe spot ❤❤❤

Hey Amber, I was in the similar situation about five years ago. I Partboarder and leased my horses out but it was so stressful and things just weren't working out. This situation is so very hard and I loved my horses. I had to sell them all and completely exit the horse world for about a year. I understand there are multiple ways that this could be resolved or there may be better pathways for you and your horses and I am hoping that for you. I did sell my horses and stopped riding for about 7-8 months but then a new door opened for my husband and I, where we were able to buy our own property and bought really nice horses that I couldn't afford just a few years earlier. Honestly I don't regret selling my horses, I know that's what I had to do at the time to make ends meet and I know they deserved a person that had more money than I did at the time to take them to the next level of showing to which my heart wasn't in. My whole point being I hope the situation you are in becomes easier and that there is a resolution that works best for you and the horses whatever that may be. Just wanted to share my experience being an adult (in my late 20's) and making those adult decisions with horses is never easy or simple. Yes! I was looking for this kind of comment. Selling or not, that's not the question, but to find the solutions that work for you.
Life has different phases, sometimes we need to focus on new things and let go of old ones, for new surprise elements to enter our life later! Change is often difficult.
Being a horse girl doesn't mean you have to always own multiple horses - you can rent and compete, coach others, work as a groom, be a horse trainer, etc. You won't lose horses from your life forever.

I really appreciate you telling us this difficult consideration. Sometimes we forget that we dont know everything about someones situation after watching a few videos. I've always wanted to take care of my horse myself and loved your videos but was also envious of the non boarding situation. I have one horse but i almost sold her while i was in college because riding for competition, college, and a part time job in order to attempt to actually afford it all. It was so overwhelming that i had to quit my job to focus on school, which stopped my migraines... but i ended up telling my dad (whom i still live with to this day after getting my degree and getting married. Life is tough, I'm glad I have my family), i told him that i cant afford my share of board anymore to focus on school and that i understand, as much as it hurt sooo much, if we had to sell her. He gave me half a year completely paying for hee which i was shocked and i was able to cram and finish school. Idek how i managed to pay my bills, especially after that half year cause a few months later i had a wedding! but God must've blessed my socks off. I still have my horse now and both me, my husband and my dad have had periods of joblessness over the last two years. All this to say.. I hope theres hope! I'm glad you said its not set in stone. Definitely make yourself and your family a priority, that is so important and not talked about enough in the horse world. Your family is your lifeline. Your videos are a breath of fresh air. Coming from somebody that was $35k in horse debt a year ago and now $9k in debt a year later you can make it work. You just have to set your mind to it. I work 3 jobs and I’ve sold almost every bit of clutter in my house and my barn. Don’t give up on your dreams because of money. You can always make more tomorrow.
Some people don’t want to suffer like that. It’s okay to not prioritize horses in your life. 3 jobs to pay 35,000 debt seems awful.
Things may be overwhelming at this time, where you have the time now you can think things over and it will work out for you.

I get it-about 80 percent of our income goes towards paying horse expenses. I went back to work to take some of that pressure off. I have three when I can realistically afford one, but one is elderly and one is only pasture sound, so they are all staying…I hope the solution you hint at works out for you!

gave up my horses about 15 years ago. still hurts. Hurts to watch olympics, hurts to drive down the road and see horses.
You want to be in control of this decision.

I respect you 💯. My Dad taught me a hard life lesson, SACRIFICE. I hated it. I had what sounds like a similar life as you. I have anxiety and tend to ramble like you started to do. That is also stress. This may not sound like good advice, but it has worked for me. Trust in the Universe. Tell it your issues and what you hope to gain and let it go. You will receive guidance. When guidance comes, don’t fight it.
You are a very strong woman and your Journey is moving forward. The next chapter. You have this. I promise ❤

I haven't been in this situation, but I think listening to your passion, reasoning, and your love for your horses, you are striving to be the best you can be! You can only get stronger, do what you think is most attainable in the now 🎉
It's a tough thing for you to think about, but I'm giving you two big thumbs up for being realistic, despite how sad it might be. I don't even want to _think_ about how costly it is to have one horse, let alone multiple, in Aus right now with how expensive things have become. You have to do what's right for you, your family and your horses, and sometimes that involves difficult choices. Finger crossed for best case scenario!

By no means am I giving you advice! Sending love from America where we also have a 🙄 cost of living crisis, as you know. You are living the dream (as a horse owner) that I gave up on after childhood ( so that says a lot, lol). I personally would consider not spending a dime on a wedding or a home. No shame in renting unless a mortgage would be cheaper. Anyway, take care and wishing you the answers you need!❤

There comes a time where we have to make adult decisions. Horses are expensive and they make big life changes and decisions logistically difficult. Wishing you the best and simplest outcome.
Just a suggestion on where to live-> Kuranda! It’s in Queensland and it’s not to hot, it’s so pretty up there I do suggest it up there. It’s warm but not to warm:) please have a look at it! I hope you do well and find out what you’ll do :)

I think that if you think that you have to sell your 2 horses Winnie and Swaisie, I think you should, do what you think would we best, not what us or anyone else thinks, whatever you and Luke think will be best for both you and him, your horses and your life, do whatever’s the best choice for you

I live in the US so it's weird to me that it gets warmer when you go farther North. But I guess it's true...
It’s so sad knowing that I will be facing the same decision soon, my partner wants to move to his home country (northern italy) and I own a 4-year old and two 19-year old horses. These decisions suck but they are necessary

I hope you are able to make it work. But if you have to make a choice. Swazy your paint would be a good horse to keep because he represents your future horse self.
But ya the others enjoy for as long as you can this year and take your time finding them their hopefully forever homes.
But ya be creative in visualizing the future place with all your pets and plenty of resources to take care of them

They might not be high class and what you are used too. A few sacrifices on spending and it isn't that bad !
These things are hard but sometimes they must be done with all the things going on in your life its possibly the only thing you really can do

To be completely honest with you I can see selling them being a good decision. Obviously it's sad, but even in a good situation it's hard for a person to own three personal horses. Especially for swayzee I think it would be good for him to be someone's one personal horse.

That’s so understandable, I can’t afford a horse so I just work with them. Done a few trainings for free lease but can never commit to owning one fully because I just know how chaotic my life is. I travel too much, I have other hobbies too, I started a business, I am trying to save up to buy a house with my partner. It’s a lot to be a horse girl right now, I wish I just had money as I would have my ranch with my horses. If I won the lottery no one would know but there would be signs aka I’ll have a ranch with all the colours of horses 😂
This is a very tough decision. I have had to make the decision to sell two different horses at two different time points in my life. So I do understand this struggle. I would caution against buying a house right away. I know instinctively it seems like the thing to do when you get married. However if you have family support and there are safe housing options it would be a good idea to wait out the market for at least the interest rates to come down. Though speaking from the US Austria may have a better buying climate than the US right now.
This would be such a hard thing to think about 😢

Do it. You are entering the part of your life where you are going to want to spend time getting to know who "you" are as a wife. And possibly - up to you and your husband - but possibly a parent. You need to cut down on YOUR stress - you are very stressed. Come to the Sunshine Coast hinterland. :) Great little horse towns and wonderful for raising a family. Good luck no matter what you decide.

I live in Queensland it gets so hot here compare to Melbourne it was so cold there compare to here lol it’s been around 20 degrees tho
