The Cathedral of Hope is a predominantly LGBT congregation located in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, Texas (United States). The Dallas Cathedral of Hope is said to be the world's largest inclusive "liberal Christian church with a primary outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons", with a membership of approximately 4,000 local members. Additional campuses are located in Houston and Oklahoma City, and its national outreach program reaches a further audience nationwide. Cathedral of Hope (CoH) joined the United Church of Christ in February 2007, having previously been the flagship congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. Construction is currently underway on the Cathedral of Hope's Interfaith Peace Chapel, designed by the late world renowned architect Philip Johnson (Alan Ritchie Architects), to be complete in September of 2010. Dedication of the building is scheduled for November 7, 2010.
The current senior pastor is Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a graduate of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Hudson was called to the Cathedral in August 2004 and was elected Senior Pastor in February 2005. She succeeded Rev. Michael Piazza, who was elected Senior Pastor in 1987, and retired from that position upon Rev. Dr. Hudson's election.
The CoH UCC is engaged in a long-range goal of expanding its facilities on its Cedar Springs campus. Architect Philip Johnson was commissioned in 1995 to create an Interfaith Peace Chapel and a new church with seating for 2,000. The Cathedral of Hope continues to raise funds for these projects, and broke ground on the Chapel in 2007.
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is a concert hall located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA). Ranked one of the world's greatest orchestra halls,[1] it was designed by architect I.M. Pei and acoustician Russell Johnson's Artec Consultants, Inc. and opened in September 1989.
The Center is named for Morton H Meyerson, arts patron and business partner of Ross Perot, who provided $10 million in funds for its construction. It is the permanent home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony Chorus, as well as the primary performing venue of the Dallas Wind Symphony as well as several other Dallas based musical organizations. The Meyerson Symphony Center is owned and managed by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.
"Take My Hand, Precious Lord" (aka "Precious Lord, Take My Hand") is a gospel song, lyrics by Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey (1899-1993), melody by George Nelson Allen (1812-1877).
"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.
"Over the Rainbow" (often referred to as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow") is a classic ballad song with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It was written for the movie The Wizard of Oz, and was sung by Judy Garland in that movie. Over time it would become Garland's and Sam's signature song.

Sam, what a moving performance! You had me in tears. It brought me back to the 9/11 'Oprah show which I still have recorded on VHS! Question: How far ahead does the orchestra get your arrangements?? It was outstanding!
