  • Sadguru Sri Nannagaru describes Sri Ramakrishna's compassion for Master Mahashaya (M.)
When Master Mahashaya visited Sri Ramakrishna for the first time, he came across Sri Ramakrishna's maid servant. Master Mahashaya asked her: 'Is Sri Ramakrishna well educated?' She then replied: ' Why does Sri Ramakrishna need any formal education when all the sciences are within His throat?' Master Mahashya (also known as M.) again asked her: ' How can I meet Him? ' She replied: 'You don't need any formal appointment inorder to meet Him. He doesnt even close his door. It was me who closed his door. So just push in the door and go inside'. M. did accordingly and went inside. The following conversation took place between Sri Ramakrishna and M. :
    RK: What do you do?
M.: I am a headmaster in so and so school.
    RK: Are you married?
    M.: Yes
    RK: Do you have children?
    M.: I have 6 children.
RK: Your case looks to be serious. But you seem to have love for me. So I will admit you into my hospital but I cant guarantee whether or not you will get cured of your illness. Lets not think of the consequences right now.
M.: Please accept me and admit me into your hospital.
From here onwards M. became Sri Ramakrishna's patient. M. was a very good person. Sri Ramakrishna observed M.'s behaviour for one year. He was impressed with M.'s humility. Later Sri Ramakrishna started loving M. Sri Ramakrishna said: ' Whether you got married once or for a hundred times - it really doesn't matter for me now. I will protect you at any cost. The same Ramakrishna who initially hesitated to admit M. into his hospital, now said: 'Not just one marriage, if you had married for a hundred times, even then I will save you. It is my responsibility to save you. I will not leave you'. Accordingly Sri Ramakrishna didnot abandon Master Mahashaya. Such is the glory of Sri Ramakrishna.
After Sri Ramakrishna left his physical body, M. lived for another 30 plus years. Both Sri Ramakrishna and M. remained friends even in the burial ground. M.'s body was burnt in the same premises where Sri Ramakrishna's body was burnt.
Suppose a person is introduced to Sri Ramakrishna as highly educated possessing several doctorates, Sri Ramakrishna asked them: 'What next? Everyone has to die in the end. So is all this education only for the sake of dying? Is death the end goal of all the formal education?'
