Tough opponents for any teams and i would say that Latvia, Swiss and Germany are about Czech/Slovakia level teams, sometimes even better.
I barely watch ice hockey, but I think this US team is incredible and the guy who scored the second goal is awesome. It is exactly what this sport is about.
Keep in mind most of the players on Canada and US dont even scratch the talent and potential of what the teams can be. COVID ruined the chances of NHL players returning to the olympics

Switzerland cannot handle the pressure, they lack the winning mentality. Such a shame since they had a really good team this year. I think it is time for another approach. Maybe new system or coach?

Nobody is more supervised than Team USA fans. 😂😂 A lot has been said about this team and the substantial lack of any players who would be on the Olympic roster but I gotta give them credit for this. Switzerland is a great team and I thought they had no chance. Good job boys.

There are some days where you could shoot 924929 times and it will never go in. This was that day.
A bit of a shock, really. I thought Switzerland would cruise through this. They got the easiest opponent, and they choked. It comes to show, that playing the QFs as a favorite is much harder than being the hungry underdog with nothing to lose. It also comes to show how little all those pool stage victories matter beyond qualifying for the QF.
Slovakia is the easiest opponent out of all not US i think.
I disagree that the US is an easy opponent, but the rest of your post hits the nail on the head. “Win or go home” games are an entirely different animal.

Do you know before the tournament a lot of the media prodicted Switzerland to go far in this tournament maybe even go to the finals! Now USA beat them 3: 0 and shattered their dreams! Just like Czechia beat my Germans 4:1! But Germany was never a favorite to go very far, minimum goal or predictions were quarterfinals! At least quarterfinals for the shameful exit in the Olympic preliminary round! That's what they accomplished! But Switzerland on the other hand was a favorite to go very far in the tournament in the preliminary round they showed much style and class with 7 wins was it.?? Well next tournament will see Switzerland & Germany again! My prediction either Canada or host Finnland wins the final! "IUSA and Czechia with chances???

Congratulations to USA. 👌🏻 I thought they had little chance, actually not, that they would win against Switzerland, like they played in the preliminary round. Now also feel for Switzerland, there was also a lot of bad luck. At some point they will surely have the mentality to win the title. Great games also seen at the other teams today. great World Cup!

I think that a lot of people now underestimate teams like USA. They start to play in play off, they can loose 2 mathech in a group stage but it means nothing for them.I always enjoy watching their style and their game. NHL participated in the winter olympic tournament from 1998 to 2014 (five tournaments in total), and the Canada-U.S. finals happened only two times out of five. In 1998 and 2006, neither Canada, nor U.S. even made the finals, in fact they didn't even get any medal. And in 2006, neither Canada nor U.S. even made the semi-finals.
U.S. made the finals only twice, and never won it. Only Canada, Czechia, and Sweden won the Olympic Ice hockey tournament with full NHL participation.
