- A large Fresnel lens can be a great fire-starter in your go bag or get home bag.

My nephew took the fresnel lens off of an old 52 inch flat screen television, attached it to a frame with a pivot, and cooked a whole chicken in a cast iron pot with it.
Yes - it’s amazing how much energy there is in a square foot of sunlight. Your nephew put it to good use. Thanks for sharing...
This is great thanks. I ordered the 5-pk for our bugouts
Very clear and concise, and easy to understand. I appreciate this a lot and will be buying a lense for camping, but also finding a larger one for melting aluminium and steel cans for consolidated recycling.
Thanks a bunch!
This is really cool and useful
thanks! love this idea and I never would have thought of it
Woot Solar Ignition :D I keep the sheet ones in my larger/longer term bags and VERY large ones at home. Depending on size. These have other uses like for first aid(see better), creating the light house effect and as a fan(self or fire) Subbed :D Big thumbs up from C.R.
What an excellent idea !!!
Thank you - I appreciate the comment.
Great video.Shalom
Naturally, bigger is better with a lens, but I've seen pocket and wallet size Fresnel lenses, which could be something you carry with you all the time. IMO, of all the survival tools there are, the most important of them are those that let you start a fire.
I have a very nice (and very sharp) folding credit card knife. I think I’ll get a fresnel to match and add it to my wallet. Great suggestion.
Having both adds redundantly, as they say," 1 is none and 2 is 1" cause you may lose or break the first one. The wallet size works as an edc or great as a back up. As cheap as they are having oneof each in each of the caches located along your different bug out routes would be useful.
