    • @FRESHNESSSSSS
      @FRESHNESSSSSS Pƙed rokem +6

      I think it's because he is the literal embodiment of the David Brent character he plays in The Office. That character was supposed to be a deeply annoying, vainglorious slug of a bloke, with an ego that didn't match his talent. The more years go by and the more stand up you see, you realise the Office was not really acting for him. And there's little difference between a jobsworth in an office selling paper in Slough than there is to a multi-millionaire with unimaginable success in Hollywood.
      For over a decade now he's been angling for that anarchist, upset the apple cart streak, which just doesn't come across as authentic. He also seems to have fallen out with almost everyone he worked with in his earlier career.

    • @roborat2000
      @roborat2000 Pƙed rokem +14

      @@FRESHNESSSSSS I think you missed the whole point about why the Office was funny. It's not because the boss was annoying, which he wouldn't be on a day-to-day. The boss only fumbles and becomes annoying because the camera was there and he's trying to be someone he isn't.
      There's an episode of "Comedians in cars getting coffee" with Jerry Seinfeld where they both enter a pastry shop but got out without buying anything. Ricky felt bad and went back in to buy something. That pretty much sums up who he is.

    • @ItsSVO
      @ItsSVO Pƙed rokem +10

    I think the general consensus with Gordon is that he shouts and swears for the cameras, but really loves his family. In fact he is a total softie. He has done a few shows cooking with his daughter and mother.
    I had to laugh when he made something for his Mum who said it was horrible đŸ€Ł "My Mum is my biggest critic I need to make her happy and then I know the dish is good"

    The comment to Kate Winslet was a callback to an episode of Ricky's sitcom she starred in called Extras. Ricky plays a struggling actor who plays as an extra in films, in one scene Kate (as herself) tells Ricky's character Andy "the key to winning an Oscar is to do a Holocaust film"
    The show was filmed 4 years before Kate actually won an Oscar for her role in The Reader.

    The very first joke with Kate Winslet is referring to a show called extras that Ricky wrote and starred in, it's brilliant and every episode they have a different guest star playing themselves and it is hilarious and gives you a good insight on some top A listers who have a great sense of humour and are down with laughing at themselves. It would be amazing to see you react to the show. Off the top of my head some of the guest stars include Kate Winslet (obviously) Johnny Depp, David Bowie, Robert de Niro, Samuel L Jackson, Orlando Bloom, Sir Patrick Stewart and Daniel Ratcliffe (Harry Potter) and many more.
    As I was writing this someone on the video mentions the new series of Extras & Yes you should definitely react to it, my personal favorites are the episode with Kate Winslet & the episode with Vinnie Jones and Ross kemp but David Bowie singing a song about Ricky is a brilliant scene although the whole episode isn't among my favourites. Love Gordon Ramsey. I've worked in kitchens and it can be tough and stressful and he's obviously experienced that and I think he gives people the best training you can possibly have. Tough love. â€đŸ‘đŸ™â€. Respect to him.

    Ricky Gervais is great. When he roasted Hollywood, that was THE best. I really enjoy Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. I haven't seen them all, but I will tell you that aside from the foul mouth, he is so correct to call out these sloppy restaurants.

    Gordon Ramsay is great, he might not be for everyone but he is damn professional and he has made a name for himself globally, you have to respect that.
    He can be loud and all, but he is just a normal guy, off-cam, it's a little bit more "showy" for the American TV, watch UK versions of master chef and he's more laid back and so on.

    Oh dear to think that Hitchens was a pioneer. You poor poor naive person , he was just another person in the long line of humanists that have been speaking out for centuries and centuries.
    It’s one of the reasons that the Puritans went to America . They objected so much to people being free to beleive or not beleive that they needed to cross and ocean to get away from that idea.

    I’m sure it’s a unilateral approach, he’s very good at what I’d call ribbing and saying it, how it is, with irony.

    4:38 - correction, some American's don't like it. Widely regarded as arguably the greatest british comedy of all time. A bit too subtle for a lot of people across the pond...not enough fart jokes an' that

    To the american talk show hosts, stop being snowflakes and own your age, age gracefully and don't fake it because unedited pictures are bound to come out sometime and if you own it from the start then there would be less shock and drama over it 😅 what ricky said wasn't offensive, they just chose to take it personally and feel offended. Ricky was just stating facts and they got annoyed at him, did they want him to lie? That's just not ricky and that's why I love him ❀
