Stress man. I remember a family friend that was dealing with a psychotic individual hell-bent on destroying him and his family. I can back a year later from school, and he was unrecognizable. It was like he aged 20 years. Hair legit turned white, balding, eyes suck in, wrinkles all over. It was so sad. Couldn’t believe it.

There was a US commentator from the Institute of Peace talking a few months ago, and his exact words were “for 2% of our military budget we are destroying the Russian army - that is fantastic value”. Anyone with half a brain can see this is about weakening Russia more than it is about the safety and security of Ukrainian civilians, but even I was shocked at just how brazenly this guy admitted it. To me an idle leader would give away some pieces of his land in order to avoid blood shed, unless if he can get things done in the war negotiation, but if the only choice is war, and you know that you are in the weaker side of this war, then give away some of your lands, people lives matters more than some pieces of lands. Alright maybe you cannot give away those lands they are very valuable and essential to your country, and your people won't accept giving lands away, and you cannot accept giving lands away, then okay fight, but don't force young adult men or ur men in general to fight unless if they are part of your army, if you really want your citizen to fight you are free to give them a good speech with stern message, but to force them to fight a war.... Mostly, these systems already exist, so it's not a direct cost.

These questions (especially in the full version, I watched with auto translate) are terrible.
Asking the president how much more it will cost without putting the money in perspective to the US defense budget. And as if the US has no obligation to help (hello, Budapest memorandum).
The absolute amount of aid given by the US is huge, but in comparison to the US defense budget it's about 5%. You shouldn't ask if this is worth X billions but if it is worth spending 5% of your defense budget to stand up for the values you supposedly have. For international law. And if you want to see it purely from a selfish perspective: is it worth those 5% to have another country grind down the army of your no 1 enemy country so you can focus on China? That's a bloody BARGAIN! So why ask Zelenskyy in such an adversarial manner?
Then there's the question if these numbers are actually real. Most of the stuff the US has given is old military tech from the back of your warehouses. Basically, you did a Marie Kondo and gave stuff you found under a ton of spiderwebs and mothballs. Stuff you were never going to use again and that you didn't plan on selling either. Basically kept for a rainy day not of the US, but another country - like Ukraine. Why does this stuff even have a price tag? 25 year old Bradleys and HIMARS that actually cost money to maintain in combat ready form (you can't just leave these things sitting in a warehouse for 25 years, you need to maintain them and that costs money!).
Ammo that's close to the expiration date and would have cost more to destroy safely than shipping it to Ukraine. Cluster munitions that are banned in most of the world and that was therefore unsellable and you didn't plan on using yourself ever. All this stuff should have a price tag of ZERO (or at most the shipping cost), not the fantasy prices the US is calling.
The only new stuff are the Patriot system and the handful of Abrams tanks (that haven't even arrived in Ukraine yet).
This isn't like stealing food from poor Americans. Old munitions don't help the people in Hawaii. Why does this interview imply that this is all such a huge, unbearable cost to the US, the richest country in the world?
Also, the US is going to be the only country that's going to benefit from this war. The whole war is like a huge ad for US military tech. Poland alone ordered 100 brand new, newest version HIMARS. All the European countries that gave / will give jets to Ukraine are putting in orders for new fighter jets from the US. Your order books are full for the next decade, you're going to have highly paid jobs producing this stuff (and those are never going offshore to another country) and going to make billions.
While Ukraine pays with blood and the rest of Europe pays with money buying from the US.
It's an absolute disgrace to frame this as "Ukraine is costing us too much money" by asking President Zelenskyy in such an adversarial fashion when the US will benefit for decades from this war.
Also, China is watching. Putin thought the US is weak and won't help after the disaster that was the retreat from Afghanistan. Dictators only understand strength. If the US goes all whimpy now, China WILL attack Taiwan. If the US shows some backbone now - which it should, given the promises of the Budapest memorandum - then maybe China might think twice.
Asking Zelenskyy like that about the $70 billion is like asking a poor guy why the $10000 he's been given isn't enough when the person who gave the $10000 is a millionaire who would normally spend that much on a weekend getaway. And gets more value out of it because the poor guy does an important job. Yes, $70 billion is a lot of money in absolute terms. But not compared to the US defense budget (let alone the total US budget) and not when the ROI is so good.
Honestly, this is bad journalism aimed at riling people up instead of informing them. And given that China and all other dictators are watching, this is outright dangerous for the world. Encouraging US citizens to just see this as a truckload of money that "is taken from them" without putting it in perspective. For what? Clickbait? Higher interaction because people will shout at each other in the comments? Shame on you, 60 minutes.

@@ts-xp2xnbs, as a Ukrainian I can testify that there is no way this abomination should be a sovereign country. Look at the stats of this country in 1991 when it was formed and now (life expectancy, economics, GDP per capita, unemployment rate and the list can go on for hours). I mean the ultimate goal of a person who is in the sane mind and was unfortunately born here is to immigrate, and the fact that the population declined from 51 million in 1991 to just 29,6 today is a solid proof to that. If I survive this war I move out instantaneously, even if I have to sweep floors or flip burgers in whatever county I move to. The very people who make up the population destroyed this country long before the war. There is nothing left to fight for apart from the interests and the money of the corrupt officials. As much as I love the USA and their whole culture and way of living, I have to admit that they do in fact carelessly use other countries for their own benefit (weakening russia in this case). As Mike Pence said not long ago, Ukraine is but a worthy investment to destroy the Russian war machine.
