If you have a shiba inu, you don't have a dog, but you have a sweetheart.
♥️😁
I have had two shibas now, and absolutely adore this breed. Yes, they can be stubborn, but the loyalty and love they give you makes up for it 1000 fold. Without hyperbolizing or sounding melodramatic, I would absolutely, positively, unequivocally take a bullet for my Shiba’s, because the idea of loosing them just shatters my heart - when I lost the first one, the mental pain, anguish, and overwhelming sorrow was so unbelievably great - that is how much they have imprinted on my heart. Even when I am most irritated and frustrated with my little guy, I can’t stay angry with him long. I become very sad and even cry when I’m away from him too long.
His presence in my life so invaluable and adds so much joy and light into my life.
To me, my Shiba is truly a priceless gift from god.
I had mine for 15 years, she was eventually a good dog but an incredibly difficult puppy/ younger dog. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone who isn't extremely patient and already has experience with hyper dogs... and they can legit dig a hole under your fence in a minute or two and get out. Mine never ran off but she definitely dug out quite a few times
A whole what?
Yea when they run its scary you gotta follow them mine got the zoomies and bolted thank god he came back after a min
Mine is thankfully not interested in digging his way off the property, but I would never trust him off leash on a walk. And yes, this breed is not for first-time owners. I see more and more of them offered up for adoption and it's heartbreaking. People get them because they "look cute" and don't bother to research the breed. I knew what I was getting into when I got mine as a puppy and still, the first year with him were hell. Even with all the training he got it's still tough even now. I love my dog dearly, but probably wouldn't get a Shiba again tbh.
All true. Excellent overview. One more thing: They are so worth the extra work.
The best introduction of Shiba I have encountered so far. My 2 years boy black Mameshiba is now quietly wondering through our house from my son’s room to my bedside to my wife’s couch at dawn and being settled at foot of my wife. I don’t train him, he trained me. He rarely barks. He stares when I eat. He sticks his nose out from small space down below the security wall of balcony to look around all day. He loves to be petted by my right foot on his back. We walk twice a day come rain or come storm or snow. He is my everything.
The past decade I only have had Shiba Inu’s, they sure do know how to train their owners! Play time is limited, so we take advantage each play time. I am crazy about them
My Sheba’s have such unique personalities, they are just like my kids. I love them more than I ever thought I would.
I’m so happy to have them and can’t imagine being without them.
Great video! Living in Japan for 30+ years I learned that Japanese don't refer to their dog's breed "Shiba-inu". Inu means "dog" in Japanese so it sounds strange to say dog after the breed name. So Japanese will call them just "Shiba" or "Shiba--Ken". Inu can also be read as "ken" in the kanji writing. But it seems that it is not a problem to say Shiba-inu in other countries.
Many Japanese people say Shinba-Ken. But it is not good. because Shiba is Kun-read and Ken is On-read.
So Shiba-inu, Kai-ken and Nihon-ken is right reading.
Like english cake?
I have two shiba. Being a first-time shiba owner. I love them, and they are wonderful pets. ❤
I have a Shibe. Yes, they are stubborn and shed a TON! My boy loves being cuddled.
My shiba always goes up to every single dog and stranger to avoid going home!
Mine is a cat-dog too 😅 He runs after butterflies or moths, when it’s fall time he chases autumn leaves 🍂 lol. He almost never barks but makes some funny noises like a fox 🦊 Love him so much
We have a Shiba Inu and love him absolutely! He is exactly as you describe in this video. 😂 Thanks a lot for sharing!
We have 2, 4 month old Sheebs. OH MY GOD, are my hands full. Talk about stubborn, and training is going so slow, but they are so smart. They learned the word"come" in 15 minutes. Next we try a bath. should be lots of fun. I may just hire a groomer. That scream is not for the faint hearted. I bet the neighbors think we are beating them, or something. We love them so much. they are half brother and sister.
Gosh my shiba can shed enough hair to make another shiba even if I comb her every day. When I asked her where did she get all her hair come from, she just rolled her eyes, turned around so I could comb the other side.
my shiba loves her food, her sleep, and her belly rubs
Airplane ears😂😂😂😂
Yes to all 10! Our sheba is 6 and he is our best friend
Not Shiba e-nuhs, Shiba e-noozs.
I will have to also throw in there something that was said isn't 100% true. While they'll cuddle for a short time... They don't tend to cuddle for a super long time. They will sleep with you but not right up on you. I have to agree my Angel is super independent but then again she was a rescue and didn't have the best beginning in her life but you can rest assure she is very spoiled at a very young 12 years old... I've had her since she was 2.
same i got mine from a shelter. it was literally meant to be. i found the breed online and said i wanted 1. just so happened a few weeks later the local humane society got one in. i instantly went up there and picked her up. she is my best friend. when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, my foxes knew something was wrong, she never left her side.
These are all sooo true!!!! 🦊
My friend and my Aunt & Uncle both have a Shiba. They've never met but they both do the weirdest behavior. Throughout the day, they beg to be let outside the front door and sit on the porch. They both just stare at people going by. Anybody else Shiba do this?
Shipa Inu its Wonderful breed🐕💗🐕🍃🌹👍〰️I like very much,,and Shiba eyes this dogs too👁👁💞. Thank you very much this good video. Byee👋🏆🐾
Shedding season... so much hair lol
Sound like myself!
I adore my Shiba. Hes my 1st one, and I will never have any other type of doggo
As the owner of a shiba-inu I confirm, this is all true
I would also add that they very rarely bark. Aside from shiba-scream sometimes, they mostly whine if they are annoyed and want something you don't provide them with, like on the walks or when you temporarily restrict the room where they allowed to be
Mine only screamed when (attempting to) bathe her... I'm sure my neighbors in my apartment thought I was trying to murder her😅
Barking is more of a Western dog trait. Most Asian breeds scream.
I’ve had two Indogs (basically the Indian street breed) and they were both great yodellers.
Lmao mine barks when I let her out the window up until I decide to let her in or she asks to come in
Have a Shiba pup, great insights!
I love you guys and you take care of forever!💖💖
Good job but the shiba that I know never screams unless he is upset about something.
They look just like Indogs but shorter and with more floof.
I have 2, nothing like cats. Nothing like cats at all. One of mine thinks he's the joker, trickster, the gotcha man! I know he's up to no good because his eyes are sparkling thinking about how he's shocked me. I know.
The breeder said always keep them on a leash unless they are in a paddock or your secure garden. This is true.
They are the naughtiest kids in the school, but you can enjoy their mischief, as you don't have to worry about them growing up and getting a job!
One groomer barred one of mine, because she screamed throughout the entire groom and people were going into her shop to see what she was doing to the dogs. She was not happy, the groomer that is.
I am glad I found out what my rescue dog is. He is a very very big little kid. But my family love him too death
They Hate Dogs with Bad manners who run at them and some can say they are aggressive it is Not they Just react telling the other dog to Keep away ,Most male shiba Dont Like other Dogs ,Also the Side Eye they give as a sign of disgust to put there Humans in there place ,If you want a dog that goes Potty in the Garden this is Not the dog for you they dont Potty on their own territory its Out even at 11pm and its got to be the right place also Love the wind up there Bum and Please dont look at me while I go Potty its private ,
Thank you for contribution👍 They are really smart:)
Mine will pee when I walk him. He won't poop for me. My husband has to be walking him for him to poop. They like to pee on the neighbour's property, not their own. Mine would poop occasionally in his fenced in yard, but never, ever pee there.
I've a Sheltie, and he also has a discriminating taste in other dogs, rarely is one to rush to the dog park gate when a new dog arrives.
But most females he's happy with.
Actually this vid and entire comment section are the best honest description of what Shiba is. I agree with almost all of them strongly. And my Shiba is my first, my last, and my everything.
Once my male got snipped, he became a living teddy bear.
❤❤
watching this a year too late. my guys a pain in the ass 😂
they are cats too!
Do they drope hair or not? I still don’t understand that part
柴犬の換毛期と散歩中のイヤイヤは注意が必要です😂あいつらマジで動かん!
2:20 „Yes I did that. So what?“
I always tell everyone that our Shiba is hard to train because we don't speak Japanese and she doesn't understand a word of English.
It took me a whole year to teach my shiba how to paw lol... It was mostly cause I gave up after a while
just like a basenji the real cat-dog xD
Could we leave a Shiba Inu alone at home for any period of time?
In our case for several hours is fine. But initially he barked a bit. After he was convinced that we come back, he was ok. But we don’t want to do it so often, mostly when we eat out at night. We set his dinner or snacks without fail before we go.
Will they chew your car to get to rats?
I have a ship love her to bits very very loyale gets very upset if she thinks u r leaving her behind im sure screams she made as we where moving was her shiba scream i knew dtraight awsy why she was doing becoude i have 5 big dogs i was neat her put others in big cages to move them she w aas last to load gt soo xcited couldnt wait t o get in cage very happy mr n her and my others love swiming sdhe even swims in winter n loves it i run 3 of my big dogs at once not all get along and yes she loves her space of her own amazing dog
