Some topics I get raised when I mention my queerness in a red state:
1. If you're ace, how are you gay? -I'm gay because I'm a woman who likes women.
2. How can you be gay if you've never had s3x? -Well, I have, I just didn't really see the point and anyone can be aware of their sexuality before having s3x.
3. Why do you say queer? -Because I'm very much a masculine-presenting woman who's also gay and ace. It kinda covers everything.
4. Do you like pride? I don't like how s3xual it is... -Personally, neither do I. As a sex-repulsed/sex-neutral ace person with sensory issues, I just don't go. It's just a lot and it's too much for me, but I think EVERYONE in the LGBTQ+ community should feel proud at pride, even if I don't like aspects of it.
I grew up in a red state before Gay Marriage was legal, I literally didn't have a dream of being married because it wasn't allowed... I have a lot of internalized homophobia and transphobia and bigotry to work through and I like that more voices are being heard and calling out people like me... It's good. Debating on terms and labels isn't new, but hearing from those people those terms and labels describe is far better for the community.
In my town, it’s not safe to say you’re gay around anyone. We have a almost secret lgbtq community. I hate it. I’m not safe and if I ever mentioned my queerness, I would lose friends. I feel you soo much. I am very fortunate to have “supportive” parents, (I.e. They think I’m too young to be gay, “how do you know?”, etc.) but I still feel hopeless coming out. I’m moving north before I get a gf. I’m also going to a local art school where I know the gays are going.
I love comments like yours to help educate me and help me find solace, as well as share my own story.

And no prob. We all make our own story. I'm actually friends with people who didn't come out until our last year of college, while I knew I was queer since I was 6 or so, and some people don't come out until later than that.
Hopefully you find a community you feel comfortable in, it's something we all hope for...

To evolve our thinking about gender, we have undo a lot of the enculturation that brought us arbitrary myths like "cis and hetero is the default" and "these are the stereotypical roles you shall adopt." I don't think saying something is confusing is necessarily a negative. Those archaic assumptions are as simple as it gets, but it doesn't make them true or fitting. Progress starts with a little confusion at first -- not as an excuse not to learn, but as the first stage.

I brought him inside and did some research and found out fancy pigeons are domesticated and cannot survive in the wild. Me and my family bought him everything he needed and we kept him for at least half a year and named him Boo. I have summer holidays right now, and next school year, I want to start a LGBTQ+ Supprt and Education group (No idea what these are called but I know they exist at some schools), because there isn't really a way for especially younger queer kids to find support and people who have the same experiences without outing themselves, and also there isn't a way for anyone to get to know about queer peope's experiences other than online. So we'd basically be there at school festivals, answering people's questions and giving them information resources, but also providing a safe space for everyone without having to fear being outed or discriminated. I also have some friends that will help me, and we'd definitely have the support of the school directors (we have two).
So, I'm really excited for that and I hope we will be able to do that!

They're called GSA's (Gender sexuality alliance or Gay straight alliance) and I have one at my very liberal art school but the problem with mine is that you need permission from your parents to join and our school is in a very red state so the gsa is useless unless you have liberal parents

10:30 I literally experienced this so much over the past three weeks. Okay so I was with my aunt, who’s probably the most progressive of my older family members(she’s 50). I ended up coming out to her as non-binary, saying that I use they/them pronouns. She said that I’m not royalty so I can’t use “the royal we” and never used my correct pronouns. Later, we were spending time with one of her friends, and her friend’s daughter’s friend is living with them, and he’s a trans man. My aunt was very good about respecting his pronouns. He’s also on testosterone and passes. Her friend also didn’t respect my pronouns, even though she lives with a trans person and has at least 2 qu33r kids. They seem to be very good about respecting trans people as long as they’re binary and they pass. There’s other sh!t that happened but that’s kinda the gist of things.

I think it was understandable that Tommy thought it was acceptable to use AAVE since he probably was ignorant to its history and appropriation but what brown/black fans are addressing is how content creators often miss the point and blame the “hate” on toxic Twitter users. Instead of showing compassion towards the brown/black people hurt by those words they often allude to these people as bullies or a sort of angry mob. Though I don’t think these content creators are necessarily racist I think they are perpetuating these problematic ideas among their easily influenced audience. This audience is often sited as sending death threats, cyber-bullying, or threatening to dox brown/black mcyt fans who criticize the content creators.

People like Khadija Mbowe and her video on "The Reign of the Slim Thick influencer" are far more qualified and quality. Anyways here is what I remember from more qualified people.
So to start off, beauty standards, because that's why people get plastic surgery in the first place. White beauty standards throughout the 20th century generally had women being thin without too big of a butt, the most this was ever challenged was the hour glass figure. This beauty standard of thin beauty lasted until even 2010. Now Black People have their own beauty standards because of racism and all that, and their beauty standards included bigger women more often, especially big butts. I'm pretty sure we can all remeber the lyrics, "I like big fat butts and I cannot lie" this is what I'm talking about with big butts being more of black beauty thing.
So what happened after 2010? White people started prefering more "exotic" looks which really means appropriating from black and other POC communities. This is most blatant in celebrities like Ariana Grande and the Kardashians tanning/spray tanning to an extreme extent to get dark skin tones. However this appropriation of black beauty wasn't just skin deep, this is also when white beauty standards started including bigger butts.
Now back to surgery. The most obvious surgery that is an example of cultural appropriation is the brazilian butt lift, which redistributes fat from the stomach to the butt and hips to appeal to the new appropriated beauty standard. If white beauty standards didn't appropriate big butts from black beauty standards, white people wouldn't really be getting this surgery, so it is a result and an act of appropriation.
