Well, it's interesting to note what the other Sunni hero, Umar ibn al-Khattaab, said to Khalid binWaleed, when he met him after killing a sahabi called Malik ibn Nuwairah:
كان خالد بن الوليد مغتصبًا وقاتلًا أراد عمر بن الخطاب رجمه:
وقال عمر بن الخطاب في لقائه خالد بن الوليد بعد أن قتل خالد مالك بن نوييرة وأجبر على زوجة مالك:
"ياعدوَّ الله قتلت امرأً مسلماً ثم تزوجت على امرأته لأ رجمنك يا خالد". وقيل إن خالداً قتل رجلاً مسلماً .
