Yes, the character we see in the NY special is from the Shanghai special, but we only see him at the end as a teaser for the Shanghai one.
Also, NY special is placed between season 2 and 3, while the Shanghai special is placed between season 3 and 4. I recommend that you watch the NY special first.

many people who work on the show have openly stated that they do not understand what lead people to believe that Chloe was going to have a redemption, they state that the show had always presented Chloe's unchanged personality and inevitable fate in "Miracle Queen", there was no redemption planned but we are so accustomed to seeing redemptions in a wide variety of shows that many didn't really think her character was going any other way. Even the colorist for the show had to explain in an interview the purpose of chloe's character. For those who want to read it, the interview has been translated, its called, "Feri Gonzalez interview part 2, Marinette forgives Chloe ".
People who think all redemption arcs are to bear positive fruits have clearly not been betrayed enough times in real life by people who first showed signs of getting better, which, like, good for them, but also that means they still have a romanticised version of some aspects of life somehow.
@@Poseidonjd for me its less about that. not all bullies need to be redeemed. The problem for me is having a mean character, sprinkling in seeds of redemption, not acting on it, and then acting as if its all the fandoms imagination.
you can even argue it is within thier right to tease a redemption and have Chloe relaps back to a bully. If her arc was supposed to be to get a taste of heroism and not be able to commit to it, thats fine, but in that interview they act as if nothing was there at all.
For example, they used Chloe clawing for her mothers attention, and putting people in danger to fake heroics as chloe being heartless. That is a fair take, but you can also interpret her want for attention the result of her mothers neglect, turning something to hate chloe for into something to pity her for.
The writers NEVER intended chloe to be redeemed, thats fine and clear, but i dont think the chloe redemption was due to fandom culture. The writers unintentionally wrote something that could be interpreted that way, so that's kind of on them for not portraying their character clearly
I don’t really understand why ppl think Chloe deserves a redemption? I watched most of the episodes before interacting with the fandom so to see so many people saying Chloe deserves redemption confused me so much. What good has she exactly done? Even when she acted good, it was with selfish intention
I guess they don't understand their own shown then, since if not for redemption what was the point of the Chloe redemption themed episodes? (zombizou, the bear one, style queen, queen wasp, malediktor and miraculer) Chloe's betrayal had 0 impact on everyone because her character is so messy, even at her worst she had always been a school bully/someone that wants to impress her narcissistic mom, not someone that would team up with a terrorist, that absolutely came out of nowhere and the redemption arc was simply more believable, but now all these ep are literally WASTED time since they build up to a dumb "betrayal".
but then again Astruc says that Chloe (a neglected teen with a narcissistic mom and a stupid father) is not abused, so the writers really don't know their own characters
@@adamfirstman0 good gosh you misinterpreted that so quickly, the large majority of the fanbase understood her character was not being set up for a redemption since the day she did something that no other miraculous holder did, which is that she used the bees power to willingly endanger lives simply to make herself look good and impress her mom in "Queen wasp", and as they continued to see her do mean things throughout the seasons despite Ladybugs influence, many people knew that the idea of redemption was something being popularized in fan-groups. Many other people even knew before hand that she was not being set up for a redemption the moment they heard her name was "Queen bee". People really need to look back on the show and step away from fan ideas that made up a version of chloe that genuinely did not exist in the show. Read the interview I mentioned above to understand the purpose of chloe's character.
One thing to be aware of when going into season 4 is Marinette remembers Chat Blanc, (not the parts we saw through Bunnix but she remembers the entire fight she had with him). This will affect her a lot and impact the choices she will make as she tries to protect Chat Noir and all of Paris from Chat Blanc because of how deadly he was

Kinda ironic though. Alya was always one who tried to expose Ladybug and Cat Noir's identies in earlier seasons. So in season 4 for her to know you know what. Honestly feels like a really stupid choice for the show writers to choose her to learn it. In my opinion.

From the very start the one thing Chloe wanted was attention. From wanting to be head of the class to wanting her mother to notice her. Then comes ladybug everyone loves ladybug and Chloe saw that. Chloe wanted to be like Ladybug not because she was good or did the right thing. When she got the Bee Miraculous she got her wish to become a hero and have everyone look and notice her. That’s why she revealed her identity to get credit as a hero. Even though she had no idea what that meant even when she did become Queen Bee she did it because she saw it as ladybug NEEDING her everything she did was for ladybug approval. Chloe was always the first one to stand with ladybug because she needed to bee seen as worthy as being some one to be counted on. When she sees that she will never become Queen Bee again she goes into denial saying “She will always be Queen Bee” she couldn’t separate herself from it she pretty much in a subtle way got addicted to the power and attention. One she sees that ladybug doesn’t “notice” her and that she will become just another person in the crowd. It makes so much sense that she would team up with Hawkmoth. He exploited her insecurities of being unseen and forgotten by giving her the opportunity to become a queen some one that everyone looks up to and honor. The message of the episode was to except loss and change Chloe never understood hence she became what she was it’s what currently is happening to hawkmoth. Chloe’s whole arc was a cautionary tale to except change. Chloe at any point could have excepted that she didn’t have to be best and lived on become a good person and become a real hero however that didn’t happen. Really interesting stuff
I just gotta say this Zamber, there are a lot of surprises and changes in Season 4, but the ones that will probably make you lose your mind is in episode 3 "Gang of Secrets" and episode 18 "Wishmaker"
I really can't believe that you're this far in: almost caught up and up to date with everyone else and the main reason the fandom is the way it is. Such a joy seeing you laugh and lose it and dissect everything piece by piece.

34:55 dont worry about getting through season 4 quickly! we only have 2 episodes of season 5 at the moment and we are on hiatus until at least october. if they continue releasing one episode every week from then season 5 wont be done airing until april 2023ish
They won't air them weekly and it's obvious Gloob will release something in September

We can't forget that Gloob, ever since became part of the production of Miraculous, has been ahead of the broadcast of the episodes, since it aired most of the episodes of season 4 first. It is just waiting for episode 3 to be finished to start season 5 officially and it's possible that can happen in September. If Gloob starts season 5 officially by mid-September, we may get "Destruction" by the end of September or the beginning of October.

1. Hawkmoth does remember the identities of the heroes, but Chloe doesn't because she was akumatized
2. The peacock miraculous is 100% fixed
3. At the end when we see Lukanette and Adrigami, it means that both Adrien and Marinette decided to move on so technically both ships are canon in the next season. So it's a big win for your Lukanette heart!!!

I'm not so sure about Chloé not remembering. Akumatized villains can remember if they are akumatized willingly, like Nathalie when she became Cathalyst or Lila when she became Volpina (2nd time) and Chameleon. After being deakumatized, Queen Bee hinted she still remembered, as she said to Ladybug she would save the world without her and her "ridiculous poorly chosen friends". That means she still knows their identities. But, knowing her, she would never say anything just to save face.

This came to show how stupid Gabriel really is. I mean, he had ALL the other Miraculous at his disposal... but he decided to give the Miracle Box... TO CHLOÉ!! I mean, WTF, Hawk Moth?! One Miraculous in that box could fix everything without using the Absolute Power!!!!

No, it was a clever plan. He learned from his mistakes and got rid of every element that helped Ladybug in S2. Like the secondary heroes, Parisian, Master Fu etc. He even tried to split LB and CN, which he failed, and therefore he lost.
@@whaffle7964 Yeah, it was a clever plan. To turn Ladybug's team against her (all while learning their identities) was a strike of genius. But there was a Miraculous that would give him the chance to fix the past without using the powers of Creation and Destruction. He had it, but then lost it... because he prefered to trust on Chloé. But then again, by the end of season 3, Gabriel starts to really lose it and becomes so dumb.

Just to let you know, as of Miraculous New York, Nino, Max, Sabrina, Pollen, Marc, Sabine and Ms. Mendeleiev will all have new VAs for various reasons. Respectively, Ben Diskin willingly gave his roles to Zeno Robinson as Nino and Max only, but Ben will continue playing other roles such as Nooroo, Cassandra Lee Morris and Kyle McCarley were replaced by Lauren Landa and Alejandro Saab, the latter of whom also plays Chris, and Philece Sampler was replaced by Anne Yatco halfway through season 4 after her passing, starting with Psycomedian, with Philece’s final episode being Dearest Family.

Personally, I really liked Chloé's denouement in this ending because, although it was very raw and cruel, its development was realistic. A person with a narcissism as high as Chloé's is difficult to reason with and obviously she will always choose the option that best suits her. I like that the series shows such diverse personalities and especially the most unpleasant ones, since it speaks well about their creativity when writing and expressing situations related to the daily life of young people, more relating them to a fantasy plot.
And by the way, from now on the plot of the series becomes a bit more "grown-up", so to speak. The characters are growing up and have many more responsibilities than before, that means that they also have to deal with anxiety and stress, plus the danger becomes more and more imminent. Season 4 was really amazing, the level of writing was raised quite a bit. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Despite I got disappointment with Chloé's development, I agree with it. It is very realistic, as it shows that there are some bad people that, even if they show improvement in their behavior, they can't really change for real. Chloé is really mean and has a lot prejudice and contempt for those who she perceives as being inferior to her. Being Queen Bee did make her better, but she only wanted to become a hero so she would be admired and demanded her Miraculous whenever there was a villain, thinking she would make a better work than the other heroes. When Ladybug refused to give her the Bee Miraculous, Chloé let her own bruised ego to guide her actions and betray the very person she admired just so she could continue to be Queen Bee. Too bad that her betrayal on Ladybug led her to become even worse than before to a point that she even stops treating Sabrina with the minimal humanity she used to, turning her into an actual slave that runs after her limousine and does her homework in the closet.

I can't wait for September to see you start season 4. That season is so GOOD!!! A lot will happen and most episodes are worthy of your screams, Zamber... especially with a certain blue-haired guitarist. And Gabriel really fixed the Peacock Miraculous and its power will be used more times. And Marinette as the new Guardian will test her in many ways and bring her to her limit.
Oh yes, the Wishmaker episode will be a favorite of hers for sure.

Okay Luka is literally best boy like what no hesitation, he just gave up his life for her, what a king😭😭😭💖🛐!!! Also Chloe basically outed herself and her family in danger when she revealed that she was queen bee so Hawkmoth would've still targeted her in the future despite what Ladybug did out of jealousy.
If Zamber had a nickle for how many times she used the I don't feel safe meme, she'd still have less nickles than the nickles for everytime she simps for Luka
I think Chloe was initially getting a redemption arc, but then the writers realized that there were an exagerated number of people that admired the way she acted and justified her horrible behaviour with excuses. That made them realised that it just wasn't right. That "unhealthy" way of thinking is what leads people to justify a toxic/abuse partner for example; "they are good deep down", "you don't see them the way I see them", "it only happened twice", "they can change", "it won't happen again, I know it", they just showed that some people are given the opportunity to do the right thing but they decide not to. Thomas said that the same disappointment the fans of Chloe felt when she didn't change on this episode was the same disappointment Ladybug felt. I personally like this way of portraying the character, in most shows the "antagonist" changes just because and it is just not realistic.
That being said, I find extremely weird that Andre and Audrey are not divorced yet. It is a little contradictory if you ask me... but I guess it was due to a future character who actually needs Andre, that's all I'm going to say 🤐

When hawkmoth talks about Chloe he specifically talks about recruiting her and not someone like Kagami, who he knows is Ryuko, and this is because hawkmoth knew Chloe would easily betray Ladybug, he knew her weaknesses, he knew she admired ladybug, he knew she loved being queen bee and he knew that the moment Ladybug took away a power she felt she was entitled to, chloe would turn her back on Ladybug. Ladybug could have entrusted the bee to chloe again to save her parents, but it would not have changed her views, chloe still believed the power was hers regardless of what she did. And so, as Chloe realizes she really will never obtain the power she thought was rightfully hers, Hawkmoth swoops in and presented to her a very intriguing opportunity by offering her the power to be queen bee again, and so she takes it. Her reasons for being Queen bee were not for the same selfless reasons as all the other holders, it was to be admired and Chloe's character in particular was meant to show that there are people who will not easily change.

Did ladybug ever came at night and spoke one on one with her? No ! Chloe could be the best miraculous holder ,but she needed nurturing ,well she didn't get enough . The Chloe you are referring to is the chloe you wanted to believe was real, but never existed. Fandoms of any content have a habit of envisioning a version of a character that genuinely did not exist. The staff have already explained how many situations revolving Chloe's character were greatly misinterpreted, Chloe was given many chances but she alone decided not to stick to what little she learned. To understand Chloe's character, I recommend listening to what the staff has to say about her character, such as the colorist interview "feri gonzalez interview part 2: marinette forgives chloe", then checking the show to see if they are correct, but if you genuinely refuse to listen to what more reliable sources have to say, then I have no reason to take your opinion seriously.

I am admittedly a bit disappointed in Hawk Moth. He had all but four of the miraculous and did nothing with them. He pretty much just tossed the unused one aside. Given that Chloe had mind control powers it would of made more sense to grab a couple more people and give them the extra miraculous. Granted the show can't actually do that because it would involve coming up with a bunch of new costumes. I'm not even sure if the creators have decided on all the powers by the time they wrote this episode.
Before you get to season 4, you GOT to watch Shanghai and New York.
Shanghai takes place between season 2 and 3 (meaning Lila didn't come back to school yet, and Marinette is STILL boy crazy) while New York takes place between season 3 and 4. They're very relevant to some of the things that happen in next season.
So Astruc said part of why he decided to have Chloe go evil this episode is because he didn't like how much fans were starting to like Chloe despite her being written to be unlikable. Kimdnof a weird decision to toss out 2 seasons worth of character development like that, but ok. I mean, hey, we all know how much people love a villain with a redemption story. Stuff sells.
Hey Zamber, I would definitely recommend watching the New York special before Shanghai. It’s not a huge deal if you don’t but there a few hidden references in the Shanghai special from New York that you might not understand unless you watch that one first.
And that’s how three seasons of character development went down the tube

I love how casually Luka says "I've been thinking of you."
But on a sadder note, this is the episode where I lost my patience with the creators' use of Chloe. When she was announced as a hero, I was skeptical because I didn't want Marinette to have to be the person to save her, cos she was abusing Marinette and it's not healthy to tell victims they have to be the ones to save their bullies. But then they introduced Chloe's mom, and had her be neglectful and abusive, and whole I still didn't want Marinette to have to be the one to save her bully, I also didn't want Chloe to be written off as irredeemable because that is an even worse message for kids that have abusive parents.
And while this finale overall was fine (esp the Kagami, Adrien, Marinette, and Luka stuff), by the end of it I just never wanted to see Chloe again because it was pretty clear the executive meddling wasn't going to let her be well written. And this isn't even rock bottom for how they handle her either.

The episode that ended Chloe's redemption forever. Sigh. Chloe haters will deny that Marinette is at fault for what happened with chloe here, but it's clear that she should have given chloe the bee miraculous instead of letting jealousy get to her.

I can’t imagine being Thomas Astruc and hating my own character/creation (in this case, Chloe, because he has stated and implied he dislikes her in the past iirc) to the point where I throw all her potential and growth down the drain at the audience’s expense. We all knew Chloe was capable of redeeming herself, we saw her fight off an Akuma and stay level-headed enough to avoid one and other moments where she shows she has some good in her, but Astruc’s hatred for her took priority. Poor Chloe deserves so much better and Astruc did her dirty!
It's pretty obvious that Chloe immediately risked herself and her family from the moment she revealed her identity to Paris as Queen bee. Even if Ladybug wasn't jealous, Hawkmoth still would've targeted her and her family. She bought the downfall onto herself in the first place.

As much as it pains me that Chloe's arc went down the drain the way it did, I can't say that Marinette|Ladybug is to blame for it.
Yes, maybe she could have given Chloe the bee miraculous instead of giving in to her own desires but there was no guarantee that the bee miraculous was what was needed to solve the problem.
Also, Chloe was never meant to have the Bee Miraculous in the first place. She found the Bee Miraculous and the first thing she did was expose her identity over and over and nearly crashed a train with people in it no less.
Yes, I am well aware of how Chloe's helped the miraculous team in Hero's Day, Malediktator and Miraculer to name a few but those few incidences didn't prove that she was of the miraculous or changed to be a good person and here's why;
1. Even after Chloe became Queen Bee she never really mended her ways nor apologize to those she wronged nor acknowledge that she hurt people in the past.
In fact, Chloe still bullied and belittle people, never once thinking that her actions were hurting people but felt having the bee miraculous justified and overlooked her transgressions so she had no reason to change.
2. Chloe didn't understand nor learn the fact being a hero means protecting others and putting others above yourself. I understand Chloe had self worth issues due to her mom but that doesn't justify what she did. She looked at being a hero as a way of raising her status then protecting people as she kept declaring that she was Queen Bee at every chance she got which was part of the reason her family was targeted so much in the first place.
3. Chloe still acted entitled and didn't outgrow some her older tendencies.
Chloe before she became Queen Bee couldn't take no for an answer and even when she was told she couldn't be Queen Bee anymore she still wouldn't take no for an answer stating that the Bee Miraculous was hers. This went from a factor of self worth to a sense of entitlement. Chloe was convinced that The Bee Miraculous was "her miraculous" and that being Queen Bee was hers by right which it was not. Chloe also failed to see that the bee miraculous would not always be needed in each battle as each miraculous had its place and time which is why I say that even when Marinette|Ladybug needed an ally in Heart Hunter before Miracle Queen, the fact of the akuma being Chloe's parents aside, there was no guarantee that the Bee Miraculous was the one needed for the job instead of the Dragon as we never saw them defeat Heart Hunter as Hawkmoth cancelled it out leading to Miracle Queen.
I think we're led to believe that it should have been Chloe due to the fact that it was Chloe's parents and that Marinette was in a state of emotional confusion at that time that we see the cause of Miracle Queen being partly Marinette's fault but there was no guarantee that the Bee Miraculous was the one needed, for all we know it could still have been the Dragon or the Snake or the Fox or the Turtle or even the Monkey.
However Chloe didn't see it that way and felt that she should have been called just like every battle she expected Ladybug to call her in immediately without considering whether it was needed.
4. Chloe is responsible for her choices and actions but never acknowledges her mistakes. Because Ladybug didn't call her she chose to throw a tantrum and side with Hawkmoth of her own free will. Ladybug never pushed her to do that, Chloe made the choice herself all because she didn't get her way. She could have declined Hawkmoth's proposition, she could have even paralyzed him after he gave her the miraculous but she instead chose to side with him because she didn't get what she wanted and even after she was defeated she still blamed Ladybug for her siding with Hawkmoth and not acknowledging that it was her own fault.
Everything that has brought Chloe to this point is based on her choices. Hawkmoth may have manipulated part of it but Chloe still had a choice and at the end of the day, she made a very bad choice that cannot be erased.
I think Thomas Astruc's way with Chloe serves as some lesson for kids as it teaches kids that those who do bad things and never change will never be rewarded, and that actions have consequences whether you acknowledge your mistakes or not.
"there was no guarantee that the bee miraculous was what was needed to solve the problem." But there was basically a guarantee that the dragon _wasn't._ Fu's uncertainty shows it. He could tell Mari wasn't in the right state of mind.
And honestly if my superhero idol didn't let me help save my parents, I'd be pissed too. No, Chloe wasn't owed the bee miraculous but in this situation, I can absolutely see why she would be upset she didn't get it. I don't think it was okay she sided with Hawkmoth (still feels out of character imo) but her anger in and of itself is completely understandable.

So the "putting you and your loved ones in danger" isn't the best excuse not to give specifically Chloe a miraculous again. On top of that, didn't Chloe reject an akuma because of Ladybug? Hawkmoth could only use Chloe's family or Sabrina against her but as we see here, she'd never falter. She'd want to fight Hawkmoth no matter what. So by "protecting" Chloe even though her parents were already in danger, she was going to put Kagami in danger instead.

Probably the most level headed and logical summary of Chloe's character and so called "arc", one that many people don't seem to understand, I thank you greatly for laying all this out in a way that a lot of could understand
About the seasons, season 5 had its preview in Brazil 2 months ago with the first two episodes, but after that nothing was said and it is scheduled to officially launch in the world in September to December.
I loved how understanding Luka with marinette was throughout the season, even in felix he was happy if the video worked and in the future it will be of great importance in the plot

I suggest you watch first the New York Special because they still have classes there while in Shanghai it's already spring break, and also the first appearance of a new hero from New York that will be in the Shanghai Special so you won't be confused who is it.
Little thing also to mention. Marinette saw that if a person like a Chloe, who had a Miraculous but can’t use it anymore, might join Hawkmoth just to get there Miraculous back. So with this information, she is most likely going to give back all the Miraculous to there previous owners when she needs them
