  • Hello all! I never got a channel trailer made so I thought while I was in between Breyer shipments I'd answer a few questions about where I fit in the hobby currently and how my collection looks for 2022.
    Looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings, and an eventual collection tour!
    ..
    How long have you been collecting? I'd love to know about you and your collections if you feel like sharing in the comments!

    I can relate to all of this, especially the shy and always cold part! I collected as a kid and lost my entire collection in a move.. 20 years later I started collecting again- starting with the traditionals near and dear to me.

      How sad to lose your collection! I'm glad you're able to rebuild now, and can hand-pick your favorites and the most nostalgic ones!
      (PS: I'm currently zipping up my second hoodie as I reply to comments 😅)

    I am new to your channel but I absolutely love your energy❤. thank you for the video! I am slowly allowing myself to own my addiction to breyer...those closest to me are the only ones who know, and they have never seen my entire collection together. Just got my Kalahari and I love the markings! I have a weakness for unicorns and trying to get every mare and foal set released.

      Thanks so much, Anne! I appreciate you being here! I'm more of a low (quiet) and slow hobbyist.. haha. It's a funny thing, isn't it; collecting. I was embarrassed when I brought home my first Traditional from the toy store-- the one I bought myself with my first salaried position like I always promised myself I'd do- and I sort of hid it from my live-in boyfriend (who is now my husband, years later). It felt weird to admit that I wanted this pretty "toy horse," and that she was expensive, and that yes, I planned on displaying her. I have an established Instagram account where people I've known for nearly two decades follow me, and I set up a separate account for "etc" stuff-- other hobbies and passions and-- mostly-- Breyer. But, thanks to the algorithm, quite a few of the followers from my old account (including family) had my new account suggested to them, so they followed. Once I saw that happening I didn't dare share any Breyer pictures, which was the whole point of the new account! Gah! Why am I afraid?? I still don't know! I love these models and yet only feel comfortable loving them in front of other hobbyists. So weird. 😅

      OH: And I'm happy to hear you like your Kalahari! The internet was making me nervous with him and flaws. I wish there were more grateful/admiration posts for models vs all the complainy ones! I can't wait for mine to show up! I've also been eyeing those new unicorns because I love the BGB mold. I wanted the copper-colored mare/foal set when leftovers were available last year, but I missed out. PS: I have a unicorn video in the works! :D

    My first Breyer was the running foal.Cost me $3,can you believe it? I stepped away from collecting for a long while(lack of space)but I'm at it again.Too many fabulous molds.I think it's safe to say that at this point,the two models that have given me the most joy upon receiving them,have been Sierra Rose,my glossy rose grey dapple,a special run from Breyerfest,and Jubilee,also a glossy special run on the Andalusian stallion mold.I discovered him while looking for a different model,and his rich,glowing color and pearlescent mane and tail just dazzled me

    • @CandaceToo
      @CandaceToo  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That's really neat to reflect back on first models and costs versus seeing what's being released today, and how much the hobby has grown. There really are so many fabulous models to pick from! I'm definitely out of space as it is, but Breyer just keeps releasing incredible new molds and colors!
      Sierra Rose is beautiful and I'd love to get one of her some day! PAM is a favorite of mine. Jubilee is also very special; I had him at one point and sadly had to let him go, but he went off to live with a giant herd of other Andalusians so I like to imagine he's happier there!
      Thank you for being here and sharing!

    Hi Candace! I love your channel. I used to be an avid Breyer collector and at one time had close to 500 models. I raised Peruvian Horses and my 3x U.S. National Champion of Champions Breeding Stallion was chosen to be the model for the original RSV Inolvidable+ mold by Katherine York, and he was their Dinnerfest model at the 2002 Breyerfest. Since then, I went through a divorce, a remarry and moved to a new home in a new town. I sold off most of my collection except for 10 of my original RSV Inolvidable+ models. Watching your channel made me realize just how much I miss collecting them. I have now started over and hopefully will one day be up to my old numbers. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

      Hi! Oh my goodness thank you so much for sharing this story!! I've been on the hunt for the first release of the Peruvian Paso mold and I could never tell if it was the dapple grey or the dark bay.. but it sounds like it was YOUR GUY?! Your stallion was the model for Linda York's sculpt, and he was first released for BreyerFest '02; is that right?
      That's wonderful your collection is "growing back." It'll be interesting to see which models you gravitate toward! For me, I found I was drawn toward one sculptor pretty often before even knowing the sculpt was hers, and I also keep going back to sentimental vintage favorites. A big mix of oldies and new releases; cheap carpet friends and more expensive runs. These models are so much fun. So fun to open and admire and put on a shelf and accidentally anthropomorphize. I love them!
      Thank you for being here!

    • @shawnabloom
      @shawnabloom Před 9 měsíci

      @@CandaceToo yes, he was the bay. The original. I think the dapple grey came after him. Your knowledge of the models is very good and I love listening to your channel. I tend to gravitate more to the ‘high-steppers’ such as the ASB, Huckleberry Bey, Sherman Morgan type models but I love them all! Keep up the great work!!

    You have such a beautiful space and collection. I am introverted and have brain fog too so I can relate. That PAF is so special. I had the same one when I was young too but one of his legs broke and I regrettably let him go as a teen before I knew maybe I could repair him. Maybe one day I will get him again. Thanks for the intro and helping us get to know you :)

      Thank you so much, Lindsey! I appreciate you watching and sharing how similar our experiences are! Brain fog is THE WORST. I suppose it's nice that when it's a bad day I know what's going on and can take it easy on myself.
      I hope you get a new PAF! When I rediscovered mine after so long, a flood of memories came back and it felt so special to hold him again. I've been casually shopping for some PAF buddies lately too since I adore the mold. It's fun to pick out different ones for their variations in shading/dapples/socks.
      I appreciate you being here!

    Late to comment on this vid but I’m watching all of your videos again & thought I’d answer the questions.
    I’ve been collecting for over 50 years.
    First model horse in 1970. First Breyer’s were the palomino FAS & charcoal FAS given to me for my birthday in 1972. I still have them.
    I have around 850 models in my collection & all are on display in my apartment.
    Favorite mold is the Proud Arabian Stallion & he’s the only Traditional mold I conga & collect variations. I have 42 in my herd.
    My holiest of Grails is the tour model Batal on the PAS & around 25-30 were made.
    My favorite RR model is my bay PAS with 2 hind socks. He’s beautifully painted & has nice shading.
    My favorite overall model is the Big Easy Bash Beignet 1/8 who’s a glossy sorrel PAS.
    My Never-will-sell models are my Copenhagen Running Mare, Wedgewood Running Foal, Presentation Witez ll, Beignet, 4 of my 5 BF raffles models (Viajero, Muse, Queen Mum & Prince, Que Sera Sera). I would sell/trade my BF Raffle Clyde Stallion Walk Down Memory Lane. And, yes, I was drawn for all 5 of them.
    My most recent purchase is Vail.
    My most excited to finally get was my Open Top Buggy. The flocked chestnut PAS with harness, buggy & display case. I never dreamed I’d find one in such great condition.
    My most obtainable grail is the dapple gray PAS with black points & socks.

      Oh.. this made me SO happy to read. I am in awe thinking about the models you've named and that your established collection is all on display!
      What luck that you've got so many fun raffles too, and you won each of them!
      Batal is beautiful. I'd love a little Amira from the pair. I wonder if someone in the Rare Models group might have one they'd trade for your Walk Down Memory Lane?
      I've got a recent purchase that might be fun for you to see. I'll have to film its unboxing soon and get it up! It is definitely PAS-related. :)
      Thank you so much for sharing these answers about your collection!

      @CandaceToo  Před rokem

      Their fulfillment service is SO weird. I have "unfulfilled" on my Chalice from LAST YEAR, but he's (obviously) been here for a while. I figured out that I could sign up for UPS notifications so now I get emails if a Breyer shipment snuck out without CCG updating things, which feels nice to see something coming. I also got a couple blind bags that haven't shipped yet.. it's so hard seeing so many people open and admire their models while other orders sit on warehouse shelves. Come on, shipping elves! Send us our ponies!
