  • First Response Pregnancy Test. 6 Days Before Period? When To Really Test!?! I'll break it down for you on how to look at your cycle and identify the best day for YOU to start testing.
    If you have been trying to get pregnant for a while, like me, you probably have peed on a few sticks. I think the term in the trying to conceive (TTC) community is POAS Addict or pee-on-a-stick addict. How else are we going to know if we succeeded at getting pregnant, right? Well the First Response pregnancy test promises that we can start testing 6 days before a missed period. How can that be? We all have different cycle lengths, different luteal phase, ovulate on different days. When should we really start using this test to see if we are pregnant and expect to the results to be accurate?? Accuracy is the key and I want to help you!

      @@SimplyTanika today I am 6 days out from my missed period. Or what would be considered a missed period (hopefully lol) I’m so nervous. Should I actually go through with testing today? Or should I wait until I’m 11dpo or better yet, when I actually get my missed period?

    very detailed explanation!. i realized that anytime before 12 dpo for me would leave me guessing and i needed closure once i tested. i know 8/9 dpo are popular test days on youtube but it seems like it can lead to unnecessary disappointment if a positive may show up 2 or 3 days later.

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 6 lety +1

      Gen .C I agree 100%! The earliest BFP I have seen on youtube was 8DPO, but she never said her cycle length. If her luteal phase was 10 days, then that is on par with taking a test 12DPO for me when my luteal phase is 14 days. I just had no idea how it all worked when I started trying.

      Mrs Oneplustenangels Based on the luteal phase, yes. If you have a 10 day luteal phase then 11DPO is the first day of your missed period. If you have a 15 day luteal phase you could get a false negative on 11DPO and get a positive on 12 or 13 DPO.

      If you can wait until 4/6 that would be ideal. Progesterone can cause tender breasts. It usually increases a few days after ovulation and peaks about 7 days after ovulation. Your cycle was 34 days this last time so 34 days later would be the 6th. Do you know if they are usually that length? Fingers crossed and baby dust to you! 😘

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 5 lety

      Everything I've read indicates you want at least 11 days for your luteal phase in order to give a chance for good implantation. It is likely you need to boost your natural progesterone. (Don't go out and buy any synthetic creams or other over the counter stuff.)
      What sort of doctor were you talking to...a GP or an OBGYN? GYN would know the term "luteal phase defect" and likely prescribe progesterone suppositories, if you are TTC. However there are natural remedies. Research some naturopathic fertility sites and you'll find some options. Also I worked with an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine specialist to help lengthen my luteal phase, it was 10/11 days last year after my miscarriage and now it is 14/15 days. It took a while, but I wanted to do something where my body was taking care of itself and not relying on a supplement. Now mind you, after IVF, they gave me those awful progesterone pessaries anyway...but you know...I still feel better about treating myself holistically.

      +The Hurt Tribe: With my brief pregnancy at the beginning of the year, I had very interesting implantation cramping but no spotting. Around 5dpo, I had this weird sensation as if the womb was stuck in one continuous mild cramp for 24 hours. Then, from 6 to 9.5 dpo, I had bouts of rhythmic cramps that happened for several hours here and there, especially after exercising. One evening, the building's elevator died. I was washing laundry on the first floor, so I walked the 99 stairs up to my flat FIVE TIMES! That really got the cramps going.
      I almost never get menstrual cramps, so I knew this was something else entirely.

      @@SimplyTanika planning to give my doctor a call Monday. My app tells me with tomorrow thru Wednesday my period should come. So I'll go after to get a blood test. I retested again today and I know I should be excited that I got a line but I Expected it to be darker. It's kind of darker but still faint on my 10dpo. I gotta keep telling myself just because other ladies get a darker line on 10dpo doesn't mean I'm broken! I had a missed miscarriage last December and 2 D&C. Tanika should I wait to retest on Monday instead of tomorrow? So I can give my body time double hcg hormone? I don't know how im sad but I know I should be happy that even though it's faint the line is there..

    Good video, but my question is does this work for women whom are only doing medicated cycles such as IVF or IUI? Does it work the same for others? Again good video hope you are having a good week. Love you Dump truck of baby dust to you🍼👣🌈😍😊😘🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 6 lety

      Thank you, honey!! It works the same for unmedicated cycles and medicated cycles, as far as counting your days post ovulation (DPO). However, with IVF, your ovulation is being managed surgically, and I'm not sure why you would need to count the post ovulation days. Your DPT or days post transfer are going to be when implantation occurs. So if you have a retrieval and no transfer, you aren't going to be taking a First Response Pregnancy test, right? Hopefully that makes sense. 😍

      @SimplyTanika  Před 6 lety

      Hi Angie, got it. So this cycle is if you ovulated on CD11, that makes CD12 = 1DPO (Days Post Ovulation) 13 days post ovulation (luteal phase) would make your cycle 25 days this time around. Does that make sense? What's your question, though? Just want to make sure we're on the same page.

      You need to take ovulation tests or OPKs. Start testing around 8 days into your cycle or 3 days after your period stops. Test until you get a positive and then baby dance for 3-4 days/nights.

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 5 lety

      +Tynika Nicole i wouldn’t start any sooner that 10 days past ovulation(DPO) and even that is really soon, so if you don’t get a BFP then wait until after your missed period. Are you confirming ovulation with temp tracking? That also helps pinpoint exactly when ovulation occurred. The OPK predicts a 12-48 hour window depending on when you catch the surge via test.

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 3 lety

      It's a bit tougher when your cycle is irregular. Definitely consider using ovulation prediction kits(OPKs(. You will get two lines every time on an OPK, you want the test line to be darker than the control line for it to be positive. Once you get the positive you should ovulate within 24 hours. You want to have as much sex as possible for the next 48 hours (The egg can survive up to 24 hours after ovulation) The day after you ovulate is 1 day post ovulation (1DPO). Does that make sense?
      You should be good to take a pregnancy test about 9 days post ovulation (9DPO).

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 4 lety

      9 to 11 days after ovulation. If your surge was on the 10th, you likely ovulated by the 12th. So September 21-23 would be a good place to start. Anything earlier than that is iffy and even then you are testing early.

    What if your period is irregular

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 5 lety

      +Precious Minor for purposes of a pregnancy test, it is the days past ovulation (DPT) that matter. So once you have confirmation ovulation that is DPO #1. You could test at the EARLIEST DPO10, but better to wait until 14 or 15 DPO.
      The surest way to confirm ovulation has occurred is with temperature charting. You want to look for that rise in BBT and that it stays elevated for 3 days. Then the day is the first rise is DPO 1. Does that make sense?

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 5 lety

      +Precious Minor start counting from days post ovulation. The embryo needs at least SIX days to implant, maybe longer. If you ovulate on a Wednesday then test the following week on a Friday, so that nine days have past since ovulation.

    • @SimplyTanika
      @SimplyTanika  Před 4 lety

      +Renuka Bole yes. The reason it is irregular is likely because your ovulation fluctuates. Once you confirm ovulation the luteal phase is typically the same each cycle and can range from 10-16 days in most women. If you conceived you could expect to see a positive test about 14 days after that. Or you can wait until your missed period, if you want to save costs. It’s a balance of what your anxiety will allow....
