      I think for me personally, taking 2 hour lessons for mock tests helped, 1hr ish mock test of a common route, then an hour to go over errors etc.
      I do imagine that it'd be quite ridiculously expensive now though.

    5:57 be careful and take your time because turning nearside to nearside can block your view of oncoming traffic
    6:00 turning after each other is more common on crossroads without traffic lights

      3:25 if you start moving and have to stop at the second (cyclist) line (usually because of slow traffic) because the light goes red then that it isn’t a fail

    Thank you for this. I failed my mock test today at a traffic light controlled roundabout, I covered the break right up until I was about to cross the line (around 2 seconds) and then committed to going so put my foot back onto the gas (50mph road). At this point, the light changed to amber and my instructor slammed on the breaks so hard it hurt, and the whole contents of the back seat flew off onto the floor. The light had just changed to amber so definitely wasn’t about to go through on red. I couldn’t help but feel it was more dangerous to slam the breaks on so hard than it was to carry on. It really knocked my confidence. :(

      There's no perfect solution really, anyway can make a bad mistake or misjudgement.

    Ignore this comment if you've not yet passed your test.
    Personally I'd prefer to stop in the cycle box and keep pedestrian crossings clear if in stationary traffic (with a green light) to allow pedestrians to cross safely. If traffics stationary most pedestrians will attempt to cross regardless of whether you're stopped across the marked crossing or not. Other drivers and especially filtering motorcyclists and cyclists are less likely to anticipate pedestrians emerging from between vehicles either before or after the marked crossing..

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před 2 lety

      The example in the video is correct, you should not wait on the stop line or advanced cycle stop lines. It's important to get cars in the middle so when the lights go red the cars in the middle can finish their turn and help traffic flow. They won't get stuck on the pedestrian area when the pedestrians have a green man as they would have time to move before that happens. However if the exit road is blocked everyone should wait before the stop line.

      You would hope it gives you more than 3 seconds on a 50mph road but as far as I can tell it seems around 3 seconds on clingoe hill. I've been meaning to properly time it for ages now. You really have to brake hard if you don't want to run a red light there.

  • @asasdsaasda

    Hey Richard
    I have a question regarding approaching a red traffic light, let say it's red and there are a decent number of cars ahead waiting, what i do right now is release my foot from the gas and let the car slow down without break than switch second gear, my problem with this is by the time I'm close to releasing my foot from the clutch im close to the car and need to press the clutch again, what if i do something like, i remove my foot from the gas, let the car slow down naturally, switch to second gear when the time comes but i keep my foot press on the clutch till im close to the car to decide if i stop or move, is that consider coasting and be a fail on my exam?

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před 4 lety +1

      It's not bad coasting unless you're pressing the clutch too early. Some coasting is a necessary part of driving a road car. I recommend you come off the gas, press the brake as needed to stop of time, clutch down when the revs are around 1000rpm and don't worry about the gears until you have finished slowing down. 1st gear if you're less than 5mph and 2nd if you're more than 5mph. Changing down gears as you have said is only distracting you from making good smooth use of the brake I'm guessing.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před rokem

      Yes, but I still wait on the pedestrian crossing that is passed the stop line when green if my exit road is clear and I'm only waiting for oncoming cars (same as yellow box). It's not written in the highway code but I do it as I will be gone by the time the pedestrians get a green light.

    Hi mate can you help me I m a bit confused as a new driver at the minute 3:49 as you can see it happens today,it's was a big queue and i had green while I was trying to move forward I got stuck in the middle lights turned red there was few pedestrians crossing the street after they crossed I drove forward even if the lights was red ,I don't know if I will get a ticket for traffic lights as there was no camera,but I already pass the first traffic lights but as I said I got stuck in the middle and the second traffic lights turned to red, could help me if I will get ticket? It was a huge queue in that day and I seen many people getting stuck in the middle of the road ps (I went back to see if there is any traffic lights camera )😀

      The traffic lights apply to the stop line. Once you have passed it you should continue across the junction if it's safe.

    Is it really possible to block the pedestrian crossing after the cycle box as you're waiting for oncoming traffic to clear while turning right? I've always thought that was an automatic test fail.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před 3 lety

      As long as you're only waiting for oncoming cars when you're turning right that's fine. Your exit road must be clear, that's the important bit so you can go when the car is lights go red and people in the middle finish.

      If you don't have time to stop at amber you can continue. Don't cross the line when it's red though. If you have already crossed the line and the lights go red you should continue and finish the junction. You should not start on red and amber, you should wait for green.

      Yes as when the lights change red you will be able to finish. Don't wait their if your exit road is blocked. You should only wait there if you are waiting because of oncoming traffic.

      @@ConquerDriving what do you mean by if your exit road is blockedv

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před 2 lety

      Queded traffic is normally the culprit. When driving you should leave junctions clear and only proceed when your exit road has room for you. The only time you can wait in the middle of a junction is when your exit road has enough room for your car but you are turning right and waiting for oncoming cars.
