  • When it comes to comparing the T-14 Armata and the Panther KF51 tanks, there's a lot to consider. Are we talking about which one packs a bigger punch, or which one can hit targets precisely from kilometers away? The answer isn't straightforward, as Russia and Germany have put a ton of effort into making tanks that reflect their unique design philosophies.
    The rivalry between the T-14 Armata and the Panther KF51 represents a modern chapter in the longstanding tradition of tank design. They each come from different backgrounds, shaped by the engineering prowess and strategic foresight of their respective nations. While comparisons are inherently complex due to specific ways they're supposed to be used and where they'll operate, looking at the strengths and weaknesses of these tanks can give us some useful insights.
    In this exploration, we'll dig into the intricacies of their technology, firepower, mobility, and protection. Stay with us as we break down the world of tank design, revealing what makes the T-14 Armata and the Panther KF51 unique.

      This is true. Atleast in soft and muddy open field terrains that is majority of terrain in this war in which russian tanks are actually effective as they are fast going onwards on fields. However in forestry and rocky terrain like in northern europe i think german tanks and perhaps all NATO tanks would excel muuuch better than russian tanks. Mostly because russian tanks have terrible reverse speed which is crucial in not open terrain where you need to steer veery much and skip obstacles like big rocks etc. In Finland, our leopard 2a4's and 2a6's are fast beasts in rocky forest environments. I have seen Leopard 2a4 go through many quite thick trees with relatively slow speeds and over rocks that are over 1-1.5 meters high, where as in some videos from this conflict many russian tanks have stopped on basic trees like a car on a brick wall but i have also seen them go straight through them too. Also as seen in this war, western vehicles has much higher crew survivability rate which, i think, comes them being heavier with armor and better design. So lightness or heaviness both have up and downsides and where these vehicles excell does depend much of environment they are used and how they are used. Overall this war has shown modern tanks weaknesses more than better on both sides. Rear and bottom is not anymore the most vulnerable sides of armored vehicles but top also and modern times we have more accurate artillery, missiles and drones to attack from above. This war will greatly change how next generation of armored vehicles are designed.

    Panther (what a familiar name) is the highest achievement of current tank architecture. Armata is probably a harbinger of new architecture, and by the existence of a completely isolated weapons module (turret) it seems to offer the possibility of easier modernization. Both tanks aren’t in production, the Armata’s that have been made are not operational. The three sent to Syria were going out for operational testing, the nearest near peer they saw would have been an old T-72 at best. It would be interesting to see how they done against ATGM’s.
    The technology in the Panther is going to be right up there regardless of what the final version looks like.
    I can’t imagine the 130mm being used, if only for STANAG. If however the XM-1 Abrams has an upgrade to 130mm, then expect all new Western tanks to adopt this calibre.
    The other reason for 130mm not being chosen is storage, the round is massive, which obviously means unless you are going to make the tank bigger and heavier, you are going to have to compromise on the amount you can carry. Obviously this comes with a knock on affect of resupply, transportation and terrain it can be used in.

      Can't find the link anyway now but at first I fully believed the t14 wasn't being used at all but there is a video of it actually being used in live combat now at first I believed it was just a t90m but the clip cut to a different angle and that's when I realized it was a t14 and the story was it was used very briefly about 2 or 4 days but at the end of the clip showing it get hit by a ATGM and it got hit in the turret and the crew did survive however it seems the turret has little armor as the ATGM quite literally peeled the side of the turret off causing the main gun to be exposed with the loading mechanism and after that incident they took them off the field

Чтобы вы хорошо поняли, насколько ваше представление о танках неправильное, узнайте о том, какие задачи ставятся перед конкретной техникой. Вы будете удивлены даже тому, что у каждой техники есть формально определенная роль, а не просто характеристики.

    The T 14 was never as modern and advanced as people made it out to be on its theoretical operating. On top of that it never actually truly existed in the way people thought and will never likely be fielded. The Panther on the other hand is not only real but a next generation tank that would be far ahead not only technically but on reliability.

Seen no Aramta beside parades, not much produced and problems with engines (Design goes back to a german engine). The KF51 can use Drones for scouting or attacking. It can have 4 crews -> better mainteance during operation. Ukraine shows: no tank is safe, the question is: which crew lives longer.

    what changes in a weapon is how adapted it is to the current war, the panther is literally just like the leopard, there is nothing very different about it, unlike the Russians who have been participating in wars and adapting their weapons according to the threats. Germans stopped at the old leopard design, this panter is more comparable with the T-90M which does the same thing to improve an old design which in this case was the T-72., the T14 is completely new.

    The T-14 is still a prototype that has not been put into production. It could be that the Russians are applying what they are learning what they are learning in Ukraine before putting it into production. They seem more interested in producing the latest T-90 and restarted production of the T-80. The Russians are said to have tested some T-14's but it has not been spotted on the battlefield by the Ukrainians. It is clearly not in combat in any numbers. It may never be put into production. If they were going to do so, you think they would have done so by now. Perhaps a production version will show up on the battlefield later this year with a revolutionary solution to antitank missiles and drones that is based on Russian experience on the battlefield.

    • @Josurr_Madhawk
      @Josurr_Madhawk Před 4 měsíci

      Russia has had a few setbacks and issues with the T-14. Part of the problem, in my opinion, is that they're developing the T-14 as a versatile and modular chassis. It's not going to be just a tank, but it's also a mobile artillery gun platform, armored AA gun, and possibly other roles. So the real work is the Chassis and engine, then adapting all those interchangeable parts and having it all work fine. They are definitely learning what's going on in ukraine and adapting it to all their projects in development. Russia is probably looking into some ways to maintain or improve effectiveness but increase its scalable production and keep it cheaper than western counterparts.
      Though based on some developments that I have heard, from both T-14 and the recent improvements of the AK12, it would seem that Russia is focusing on streamlining logistics, training, maybe reconnaissance with how drones are being used, and overall survivability. A lot of weird moving parts that will most certainly complicate developments and most definitely come with a lot of compromises.

      Russian technology is not based on the principle, the cheaper, the better. The military industrial complex of the USSR and Russia is built in balance on the verge of madness. 3 basic rules, practicality, maintainability and speed of production. Cool expensive equipment differs from cheap equipment in that with expensive equipment it is more difficult to make up for the loss. This does not mean that Russia does not care about the tank crew or soldiers. No matter how cool the army has, if your commander is an idiot, you will still lose the tank, no matter how expensive and immortal it is. The T90 fight with 2 Bradleys confirms my words. The idiot commander lost an expensive tank.
