- Went on a fun 3 1/2 hour scenic hike at Crabtree Falls. Crabtree Falls is the highest vertical-drop cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. It has five major cascades and a number of smaller ones that fall a total distance of 1,200 feet.

I hiked this trail with my family recently. Crabtree Falls features a beautiful and moderately difficult trail that I highly recommend for most people in good health. Make sure if you have knee issues that you bring along a walking stick and some decent hiking boots, or shoes. Only downside was we just so happened to pick a day when a bunch of crummy pot smoking kids decided to block part of the hike midway into the bulk of the trail, the entire trail for nearly a half a mile smelled like stinky pot. Also to note, the trail is very narrow with big drop offs so you'll most likely need to walk single file when a large group is headed your way. Please don't be rude to other hikers by blocking the trail in order to smoke pot or socialize. Definitely worth the visit and for trail enthusiast!
Thanks for all the info. Its a great place for a hike. Will be beautiful in the fall. Thank you for watching.
That was some cool trails and falls 😁👍
Thank you for watching. A great trail to hike.
I read about Crabtree Falls in Roger Corbett's 1986 Virginia Whitewater book - so I came to YT to see - looks pretty steep! I wonder how the hike has changed since '86. Thanks for posting your hike!
Just hiked the trail and it was brutal..... Took us 5 hours rt.... I am a novice hiker and should have selected a trail that was easier. In any event, the views were amazing!
