BlazedBacon627 I met Nivek at a Horror Convention. He was my favorite celebrity there, while the others were charging for photos and autographs he wasn't charging a dime. He actually memorized my name throughout the weekend.
I got the privilege to hug this man after a show in Cleveland after thanking him and the band for all of their works, and it was such a real embrace, he hugged me like a family member would. What a good person...
I'm not sure why so many commenters are so surprised that Ogre is so chill and nice. His music has always been aggressive, as well as his stage persona, but he's such a kind person. I'd love to meet him someday.
Great interviewer. Great interview. Ogre is nothing but a class act and an absolute genius (along with Cevin Key of course). Long live Ogre and Skinny Puppy!
The first time I met him in 2009, I was only about 19 years old. He was so kind and humble, shook my hand, and signed my Repo poster (which I sadly no longer have.) The only time I've ever asked for an autograph. This was after him playing a full show, and he came out into the crowd just to mingle with his fans. Stood next to him again at the ohGr show in Atlanta last year, but didn't say anything. The darkness he's endured in life has made him a truly wise and kind person.
You know..... I think it's safe to say he is held in a high regard. I mean... Who knows who Ogre is who doesn't have massive respect for him. Just because the rock n Roll hall or fame hasn't acknowledged him doesn't make him unrespectable.
I must say this kid is one of the best interviewers I have ever seen. He's fun and honest. Instead of talking about constant crap like studio info, tours, record releases all the time, he keeps it to a minimal and talks about fun and cool stuff and brings out the best of these singers and musicians which I totally love. I'd like to say he enhances these rockstars to a better place and it shows. It's just awesome and very entertaining. This kid is going to tear it up and his parents should be proud. I always love watching his stuff. His interview with Slayer Tom Araya was also the best. Hell, all of this kids stuff is great! A++++++
Great interview! Met Ogre twice and, both times, he’d been nothing but a gentleman. It boggles my mind that he’s not afforded as many accolades that he, and the rest of Skinny Puppy, so rightfully deserve. Definite kings of the underground.
I met him at a horrorcon, and then a couple years later met him backstage at an ohgr concert and he remembered my name, and when I told him it was my first concert he handed me a playing card at the end of the show. It was honestly a personality forming experience for me
I will say he wouldn't recognize me now, I changed my name and am now transfemme, but I really hope I get to see him again, at any chance I get id get a VIP pass to an ohgr or skinny puppy show
@@moth7640 I bet he'd recognise you anyway, Ogre's got a phenomenal memory 😊 He handed me a playing card too (but during the show) but someone ripped it out of his hands 😵 was so sad.
When I saw Nivek Ogre being interviewed by a kiddo, the first thing I thought was "oosh... how will that end?!" but he seems like a really nice guy! Some wise lessons in this video as well. Keep it up!
Weird. It didn't worry me in the slightest. He's always seemed like a really, really nice dude. He's an empath, so when he was younger, he was obviously upset with the way people treat each other, animals, and the planet we live on. His music is aggressive and so is his stage persona, but I definitely don't think he's ever been a shitty or mean person.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Ogre twice ( both times with Pigface) back in the early 90s. He was a genuine guy and quick to smile, like most of the members were during that period really.
I worked for pig face when ogre was with us I was martins tech and the other drummers on that tour Ogre was such a sweetheart and a pleasure to work with. Nothing like the guy you see onstage …I thought he’s be nuts …I was wrong ,great guy I worked a skinny puppy too dark park tour show in Cleveland what an eye opener !
What an amazing interview! I was sporting a Skinny Puppy shirt long ago and another fan in a grocery store saw it and we started chatting. Unfortunately for her, I guess she caught Ogre on a bad day and didn't have a great meeting with him and was a bit of a bummer for her as she was a long time fan. Watching this though has totally changed my opinion of him. Always loved the music of Skinny Puppy and Ogre and it is super sweet watching him interact here. The best part is: I'm going to watch him perform tonight! :)))))) I'm going to enjoy the music but also appreciate the man who makes it.
I always heard that he wasn't a very good person. My father's friend spent sometime with the whole band and thought that they were just not good people. However, ogre is winning me over in this interview. I think he's matured into a nice humble man in his later years.
@Lost Khajiit I didn't mean to say anything about him as fact. I was merely stating what I had been told. I would not dare to cast judgement. I do not know him personally so I couldn't say for sure one way or another. And I struggle with addiction myself and completely understand your point of view. I do not define myself solely on the bad that my struggle with heroin has caused me to do. I have done many terrible and many wonderful kind things in my life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions. I do truly appreciate it. 😁 Also his music has greatly enhanced my life. I am definitely a fan. I've been listening to them since I was a child when I discovered a couple records in my father's collection. I'm 33 now and I am def glad that. Skinny puppy was there to influence my own music and life.
I was actually trying to compliment him. It's nice to be shown that had been possibly misinformed. I love finding out truth. It makes me truly happy to learn and grow.
@Lost Khajiit you have no idea how much I needed to read what you just wrote and how much it means to me that you truly seem to care even though you have never and may never meet me in person. Thank you so much...I mean it. You've truly struck a chord within me... I need more people like you in my life..thank so much for your time and kindness. The world needs more people like yourself. I'm about to cry..in a good way..thank you again.
I hope I make it. I was clean for years and relapsed a couple years ago and it's been back and forth ever since. I need my strength and discipline back. I will get it back. I have to. You're right. The man I was and have been is gone. But that does not mean I can't be a better stronger man now or in the future.
I can’t watch this interview without crying just because of how sweet and humble this man is. I can’t wait to meet him in April for Skinny Puppy’s final tour. I fear I will sob right infront of him. Nivek is a huge comfort person so it’ll be a fantastic opportunity. And right before my birthday too! Best birthday gift ever to meet Nivek and watch Skinny Puppy’s final tour!
Just imagine all that Niveck has been thru ok... All his concerts where he's going all out and total emotions and theatrics... And then see him here. He is class act truly ❤ Love him for everything he's given & wish I could cuddle up with him & kiss him
Great seeing Ogre in such a humble and honest state, for him to give the kid an honest interview really shows what type of person he is and why Ive always been a fan. Ogre for Prez!
I've been listening to Puppy since I was 16, so basically since 1999, and seeing this interview reinforces what I knew intuitively: that underneath the dissonance and psychic venting, there was a pure, gentle soul that even children could find a safe place in.
Great to see Ogre doing so well. Love this interview. Saw Skinny Puppy's next to last show in LA a few days ago and he was in such a good place. He's an amazing performer and great person. Great questions!
I love that guy! Been following Skinny Puppy over 20 years. And this interview is one of best ones I have ever seen him given. So thanks to you Elliot and to you all there at littlepunkpeople! Cheers from Finland, Petri
Elliott = best interviewer, ever. Great interview. I look forward to seeing ohGr in Chicago, later this year (2018) - my first time seeing any of Nivek's projects, live. From the videos I've seen on CZcams, it will be an experience worth having.
This absolutely warmed my heart... Ohgr is a great example of what all humankind should strive for.. Enlightened, Informed, & KIND... OHGR & JAZ COLEMAN of KILLING JOKE should speak at the UN
Ok... Omg this is so cute (and them both), but also true and deep, even in a light way! Eliott is asking very nice questions and really let Ogre answers them. I love the joyfulness and laughter they have, like a complicity already. And now, after watching their last tour, we know why the Alien was Ogre's main character. ;)
Way cool, I am a fan of skinny puppy really dark music, but intelligent. To see Ogre like this blows my mind in a good way. It's too late now but maybe four years from now Ogre for President and Elliott for Vice President, I would vote for that ticket!
This is still a great interview to come back to and watch. People shit on kids, but I look around and see kids who are more open to everything in the world, certainly more than when I was a kid. Kevin is a class act as a person and an artist. I love the relaxed demeanor he has with this interviewer. I watched another interview he did with a woman who was a huge SP fan (she asked him some questions and recalled some of SP's deeper cuts), and he was just collected and educated about what he was asked. Can't wait to see what he and the others in SP come up with next.
I’ll never forget how rapturous it was to see Ogre perform Burning Inside & Supernaut with Ministry on Animositisomina tour of 2003...he and Al Jourgensen hugged and kissed and then jammed their hearts out...it was so beautiful, I cried with tears of euphoric joy☺️
He's humble despite his success and achievments. Most of the people think that skinny puppy is a negative band but This earth is not enough for these two with big hearts
yElliot, you are so right on guy! I have been a rebel all my life. I was lucky enough to have grown up in Tacoma, Washington. That put me in between Seattle which had a few great clubs like Gorilla Gardens and the Monastery, and Olympia that had the Tropicana. All this was during the time that led up to "grunge." So yeah, I was a rocker/punk mom. I have two daughters. I tried so hard to get them to play instruments. I got my younger a guitar and amp for X-mas and got her lessons with a friend of mine who partied with Skinny Puppy back in like 1985. But no. Neither stuck with it. And that is why you are so cool little guy! You are doing something creative and dynamic! Especially since you are interviewing someone like Nivek Ogre who does cooler than cool music!
yea he's really nice and very interesting to talk to! we met him a few times back in 2011-2012 and he was on the top of our list when elliott started doing interviews in 2014!
+littlepunkpeople Greetings to you from Sweden! I saw Skinny Puppy play in 2010 I think, when they were mostly playing songs from the Mythmaker album. It was a really cool concert and I remember it vividly. Has Elliot got a fav Skinny Puppy album? Mine would probably be VIVIsectVI, I like the layered, textured sound of it, so deep and lush despite being harsh and noisy.
So, so cool. Super intelligent, articulate man. Absolutely love this man. This interview is just the best. So happy you got to see one of the best bands on the planet. Always look forward to your interviews and you’ve got magnificent taste in music kiddo 🤘🤘🥰🥰
Great interview Elliott! I just saw Ogre in San Francisco a couple nights ago with my girlfriend ....one of the best concerts ever! Ogre is so intelligent and very respected for his views on how things should be!
That was an Excellent interview! And when Nivek said being interviewed by Elliot was a very proud moment for him, I am positive that was a very heartfelt and sincere sentiment. I say that for a couple reasons, one of them being that I was curious how old Nivek is and was somewhat surprised to discover him and I are basically a month apart in age, both of us being born in December 1962. And at that age I find I am at a point you have lived the majority of your “norm for society” working life, yet still have half your life to live if you have longevity in your family such as I. My father currently is 99 years old, so I can’t help but look at that, and what Nivek is lamenting, and know I understand much of what he is conveying. I also appreciate his knowledge of his subjects, and come away wiser and sadder for it. Meaning to find out Fukushima is still spewing radiation at what is equivalent to the radiation that Hiroshima generated, but that Fukushima is doing it every 36 hours, and that is very shocking to find out the unfortunate facts. Facts as delivered by Nivek, yet I do not doubt those facts are factual. K, nuff said, I am out!
Damn, Ogre has got to be one of the most chill people I've ever seen, he seems so down to earth and mellow that it's almost inspiring.
BlazedBacon627 I met Nivek at a Horror Convention. He was my favorite celebrity there, while the others were charging for photos and autographs he wasn't charging a dime. He actually memorized my name throughout the weekend.
Very much agreed. Extraordinary person.
Many who make harsh music are that way.
It's the safety valve.

Ogre is utter perfection. I could just sit and listen to him speak all day. He's got such a massive heart. Beautiful human being inside and out.
I got the privilege to hug this man after a show in Cleveland after thanking him and the band for all of their works, and it was such a real embrace, he hugged me like a family member would. What a good person...
I was so blown away seeing them here in Cleveland, that show will stay with me forever.
At a concert in FL I was crushed against the stage in 95+ weather ready to pass out and he poured water on me saved my life. Amazing interview
I'm not sure why so many commenters are so surprised that Ogre is so chill and nice. His music has always been aggressive, as well as his stage persona, but he's such a kind person. I'd love to meet him someday.
How can anyone thumbs-down this video!? Ogre is intriguing and the kid is brilliant!
Great interviewer. Great interview. Ogre is nothing but a class act and an absolute genius (along with Cevin Key of course). Long live Ogre and Skinny Puppy!

I’ve been writing a lot of negative poetry since me Mom died and when Ogre said “making something colourful from something dark” really makes sense!!
this man has wrote the soundtrack for my life.i agree this man needs to be held in high regard.
You know..... I think it's safe to say he is held in a high regard.

I just realized this young man is the younger brother in the movie Terrifier 2.
That’s so cool!
The intelligence and depth of this man should be admired by all. I cannot believe how incredible and insightful this interview is. thanks. tD
Excellent interview. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Ogre 4 times, and he is the coolest dude ive ever talked to

Demons are alien ghosts. 😂

I adore this man ❤
that was amazing. Thanks Elliott!!!
Ogre is such a nice, intelligent guy!
Such a awesome real person. Amazing to see him from 86 to now
I could totally see Nivek being a scientist, researcher of some sort, maybe even a better Bill Nye than Bill Nye.
