Our Emperor is not just about dazzling military victories! (Austerlitz, Rivoli, Pyramide, Iena, Wagram...) but above all the creation of the Civil Code, the French Departments, the Legion of Honour (the most prestigious medal in France), Saint-Cyr (the most famous Military School in Europe), in short the birth of modern France. We are all Frenchmen, indebted to and proud of our Emperor!

Napoleons canon-grapeshots into the crowd of people were NOT from the Bastille fights.
Those shots into the crowd happened because of an upraising of monarchists in Paris (Vendemiaire Uprising).

Ziggy Marley has been overlooking the whole project and was on set during the filming so with that knowledge alone i'm so hyped for this film!

Napoleon wasn't a bad guy... He is misunderstood, it is mostly english propaganda to dismiss him.

Leaving aside that particular case, it is true that many popular historical concepts have their roots in political propaganda motivated by old interests or rivalries between european civilizations. And because the anglosphere has exported its culture for decades all over the world, some of those concepts have been disseminated as well.

If they had filmed in French, less people would go to watch it in the USA and every where out of France

CODA had a pretty limited release whereas Apple are starting to partner with other distributors (Sony in this case) to have full theatrical releases. Killers of the Flower Moon is another example being released in October.

I never listened to Bob Marley. I never cared and only heard it if it was on where I was. This video made me add him to my Spotify.

Before going to the guillotine, they would cut the hair. They did it to Marie Antoinette.

In France, we'll see it dubbed in French.

At 20:45, it's not Bastille day.
13 Vendémiaire An IV (October 5, 1795), Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the defense of the National Convention against the royalist insurgents. He put an end to the insurrection by shooting at the royalist mob, killing 300 people and routing the rest.

As a native French speaker, I’m absolutely RELIEVED that they chose to go for the best possible actors, and not use French actors just for the sake of it. Because, to be completely honest with you
Most French actors are extremely bad. It may not be directly apparent if you don’t speak French, but overacting is essentially the baseline for French actors. And it doesn’t help that a lot of movie dialogues in French are really unnatural.
As for making your foreign actors have a French accent, it’s just as bad. Very few could do it naturally and it would be horribly distracting, especially for French-speaking viewers. I watched John Wick 4 recently and one of the SkarsgĂ„rds played a French character with an obviously fake accent. In some scenes, they had him say a few lines en French and it was so bad I basically had to read the subtitles to understand what he was saying, even though it’s my native language. This sort of stuff completely takes you out of the movie.
And Joaquin not having the same accent as everyone else in the trailer
it actually makes historical sense! Napoleon himself wasn’t actually a native French speaker. He was born in Corsica and spoke an Italian dialect. He only learned French as a teenager, so it would make sense if he didn’t speak like everyone else.

To Stephanie: did you feel Helena from Indy 5 was badly cast? I couldn’t stand her and how she constantly tried making herself better than Indy. She was extremely cheeky.
