working as an emergency call dispatcher myself, here in germany, i had gone through such calls too.
this woman is obviously highly trained and handled the whole call from start to the end absolutely perfect. total respect from a colleage!
My daughters are 6 and 4 and they both know the address, the code to the key safe and first aid for my epilepsy. So far they’ve never needed to use it as my wife has been present

The Australian helpline that is working is all privately funded. Many should have been trained in the help line than police and inform line. Those Kids are going to be the leaders of your children.

When parents develop self confidence in their children, it goes a long way.
These emergency responders have nerves of steel. I would have been DONE after this call. Just watching it unfold had me shaking and nervous and freaking out. That little girl did so good and was so brave.
What a brave & courageous young girl! She was so articulate on the phone too. This just highlights it’s never too soon to teach your children what to do in an emergency. She deserved every bit of the recognition she received! I’m so glad the mother made a full recovery x

She was amazing and the operator was awsome, sometimes I listen to some calls to emergency and the operator has zero empathy. It really upsets me, especially when is a kid who is asking for help

I’m epileptic, from the age of 2 my daughters have known the address, phone number and even know how to ring for help. My 5 year old daughter has saved my life, after a seizure and I fell down the stairs. If she hadn’t of known what to do aged 3 then. I’d have died, so thanks to her I’m still here
My father used to work as an EMD for GMRTT (Global Medical Response of Trinidad and Tobago) and he'd always come back home with some wild story. One day he said that most grown adults could spend 50 years living at the same house and address and would stutter or can't even say their exact address 😂

That right there is why I could never be a call handler. I’m a hands on kinda feller, I could stand in front of a person twice my size making threats while high, drunk & psychotic while I remain calm, but this rips me apart. I have So Much Respect for the call handlers.

Never too early to teach them how to phone 999/911, & to start teaching them what to do in an emergency (going next door / your address / giving a trusted neighbour / friend / family member a spare key & having your eldest phone them etc) xx
@@MelanieWeed77 That’s fantastic! I grew up on a farm so I was quite isolated, I knew my full home address & home number by the time I was 5, just in case of any emergencies. I ended up using it when I was 11, as we’d been burgled 😔 but I taught all of my nieces / nephew their addresses & numbers - you wouldn’t believe they’re 17 & 19 year olds now.. & my nephew is into his second year in the army! Where did the time go?!! I wasn’t blessed to have earthly children of my own, my nieces / nephew are the closest I’ll ever get & they know I’m a mother hen to them (& they love it lol), but boy! It only felt like yesterday they were born!!

I work at a preeschool and i teach the children when to call.
Good thing that she only had to dial the three digits. Too many US systems require a fourth digit to get an outside line, which even causes trouble for adults.
Don’t forget Alexa, google home and stuff will call. Teach your kids that too.
I start a job as call handler in a couple of weeks. These are the type of calls that I fear the most

So I guess 999 is the same as 911 in Canada? I should know this, as I grew up almost entirely on BBC programming, but I’d hate to see this scenario played out in America. The healthcare system is awful, but and the education system is just as bad, so the chances of a kid being this resourceful and intelligent is unlikely. I don’t even think many Canadian kids could do this.

She obviously had been taught Emergency Safety Skills ahead of time. Every child should be; For their benefit and that of others. Doesn't take much effort to do so.
What has the Canadian educational system have to do with a child’s resilience & intelligence in phoning for help? It’s usually taught my their parents &/or guardian, or learnt through children’s shows in subtle forms. And as much as you may have had a poor experience in the educational system in Canada where you live, you can’t really tar all with the same brush, much like here in the UK.
there's lots of videos on youtube of young american children doing similar things - many parents teach their children how to do this
