Funky Jimi Hendrix Style Jam | Guitar Backing Track (C Dorian - 84 BPM)
This backing track is LOOSELY based on the groove from Jimi's Freedom. I added some stuff and made it just a little more funky (at least I think so)

Your goal as a soloist is to create MELODY. Our neck diagrams give you the notes you can use to create that melody in REAL TIME. Think of the Diagrams as 3 layers of information:
1. PENTATONIC - The pentatonic scale works all the time and almost never changes, so this is the basic level.
2. MODE - The mode will always be the pentatonic PLUS 2 NOTES (modes have 7 notes). The mode can change depending on the chords (modal interchange).
3. CHORD - The chord layer shows you the notes of the chord changes (aka the HARMONY) in REAL TIME. Outgoing notes get smaller and fade out, incoming notes will fade in, so you know what notes to go for next.
In our app AlphaJams (currently in Beta), you will be able to control which layer you see, and how much of the neck you see. It should be out in the next few months, so please stay tuned!

I just found your channel. This is the perfect thing for me to get back to playing again. I gave up playing when I was on stage almost 32 years ago (I’m 59 now) due to a mental breakdown. My shrink said it was a form of suicide. In the past 32 years I have always thought still like a musician but couldn’t take the leap back into it. Then my health started declining and I’ve hit bucket list territory and something clicked inside of me to start playing again. Instead of getting a cheaper guitar to just start again… I said F it and decided to invest in a Fender Mod Shop Stratocaster that I’ll purchase online tomorrow when their Labor Day Sale starts… and checking out your channel makes feel really good because all these backing tracks I can jam away to my heart’s content without feeling like I’m being judged (if I was playing with someone else). I can get my coordination back, knock the rust off my fingers and find myself again. Your videos are just what I need to start playing again. Sure things have been negative as of late with my health but that’s life and I can deal with that. But what matters most is finding my musical chops again… and with channels like yours I feel like I can just do that. You are incredibly talented and very patient to take the time to make these videos with the diagrams, etc. Thanks again. #RockOn ✌🏽❤️🎸🍄

I went on a long hiatus (years) from guitar as well, though not for the same reasons. Don't get discouraged if you feel "rusty" as you're getting back into it. I had to redevelop callouses, my timing wasn't as "tight", and licks and techniques that I'd played comfortably years past did not come easily. But when I resumed playing again I knew the passion was still there right away. Guitar's not a contest for me. I play because ~I~ enjoy playing, not to impress anyone. Just focus on what you love about playing and if a technique, song, or lick frustrates you, slow it down or simplify and work your way back up to it in steps. I'm personally so happy to be playing again (for a few years now) that my main regret is not picking it back up again sooner.
If your health interferes try not to let it depress you (even if easier said than done). I now get some finger joint pain when I play or practice for too long of a stretch. I just try to enjoy what I have while I have it, and am thankful for that. 'Tis better to have played and loved it than to never have played at all eh? Cheers mate!

As I’ve been pondering picking the guitar up again I’ve told myself that it isnt about trying to be the best, trying to impress or any of that… It’s because I want to play for me. Everything is about just jamming at home by myself. If I feel comfortable enough down the road to lay with others then I will. But it’s not a thing I’ll rush to. One of the positive about things all these years off is that technology has changed. So now I can come on CZcams and find channels like this where I can slowly get the rust of my fingers and mind without pressure. I’m so glad to hear that after your long guitar hiatus that you’ve found yourself again. That is wonderful inspiration to me. I wish you all the best and thank you again for your kind words. ✌🏽🎸🍄

I'm away on holiday with no guitar, but I still listen to these tracks when they come out to psyche myself up for when I have my axe back in my hands. These Hendrix tracks are a real treat, though this sounds more mid-70s Funk (which is no bad thing). Thanks again!
