Aren’t multipliers a bit of a disadvantage? Can’t the average Joe get better distances with a fixed spool? On ruff ground, have fixed spool reels got a faster retrieve than a multiplier, ? and less likely to snag and loose kit. As a new guy to beach fishing and only interested in catching fish , will a multiplier help me catch more? Or should I stick with a fixed spool? What fixed spool reels are best? for the beginner I mean is it actually worth the effort to learn how to use a multiplier? And if so what advantage will it give me?
1)all reels have advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of the multipliers is that you can cast further with it than casting with a fixed spool reel, using the same line. 2)of course he can. Practice your casts with the equipment you already have and try to exploit the maximum of its abilities. 3)Not all multipliers are suitable for all grounds. But there are some models in the market which are designed for rough ground. 4)No and yes. A reel, in general, helps only to control your line during casting, retrieving and fighting a fish. The fish will be cought by your bait, rig and the behavior of your rod tip. The only thing that a reel will contribute is its brakes. A multiplier will help you to reach spots that a fixed spool can't. All these, provided that you learned how to cast decently. 5)it depends on how much you are willing to spend. There are many brands who offer good reels on every price range. 6)Many people are happy with their fixed reels. I mainly use them. With a multiplier, though, you are able to push your abilities as a caster. To be fair, the fixed spool reels are much more user friendly and forgiving. But they cannot perform equally to the multipliers on casting distance aspects.
@@George_Vargiamides Thank you for taking the time to explain the pros and cons of both 👍 As a beginner I think there’s more cons to fishing a multiplier for me at the moment , bird nests, worrying about line lay 🤔 I will concentrate on casting technique before trying a multiplier.
@@shaunjones6049 tbh the modern penn mags are pretty much birdsnest proof, start with the mags on full and just ease them off bit by bit until you start seeing line lift at the spool, same for the daiwa 7ht blue mags. Multi casting is all about smoothness, jumpy snatched casts will nest every time :look at John holden off the ground casts, and Terry Carroll Brighton cast videos

Andy how do you keep you spool end float or tension bar as you said during fishing? Nipped up or with a slight bit of play?
I balance to the first mate , then I make sure there is slight movement to allow the spool to still run free
Works on ya rod spigot as well
