  • Leaving the city of Tingo María towards Huánuco, we had the opportunity to get to
know a region that still preserves many of its ancestral traditions, that magical
place is the Umari District. There, Clida Huaman, Teodora and Katy Huaman,
some charming weavers, told us about this ancient tradition and why it is so
    important to preserve it.
We also met Eliel Escobar who, through dance, connected us with the history of
the Umari district, Pachitea province, and Santiago Aguirre Mendoza, president of
the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Peru, who represents the
    Amazonian indigenous peoples of Peru.
