They're gone but not dead. A Vinegar mixture will 'chase' Fire Ants as well but just like this treatment they leave within 24 to 48 hours but because their 'Tunnels' run underground within a couple of seasons they do return to 'RECLAIM' their _Apartment Complex!_ 😄

No, it does not kill them but for those that come in contact with this mixture - the exoskeleton is removed leaving them exposed to the elements where they won't survive as well as predators "Crickets". The nest then become inhospitable for the colony and as you say, "they relocate". That's the point. You want them out of your garden.

Music is universal. I use it in my videos to invoke emotions. We are hunting the fire ants but the birds singing create an ecosystem that allow the process to become normal. Great observations and very intuitive.
You know, you can also just buy orange oil and save the labor of doing this. 3 tbs orange oil, 6 tbs blue Dawn soap per gallon of water. Pour on mound and they're done in hours.
Hey there and yes it is more convenient to purchase the orange oil. If you have watched any of my videos you would have probably figured out that I just like the process of most things 🙄. Anyone tells you its not more convenient to just go to the store and purchase produce instead of growing it would not be honest. I enjoy the year it takes to grow garlic and I can just drive to the grocery store and get that as well. What you can’t purchase is peace of mind. Love your video,will try that.I boiled extremely hot peppers and poured the liquid on a hill once,my eyes burned and the tough fire ants began cleaning hot pepper seeds out and away from the nest.They are still there,live and learn☺

I will definitely be whipping up some of this immediately! I can't find anything that works on these darn ant mounds. They just move to a different spot. This looks like it destroys the ants not just the mound. I like it. 👍🏼 Thanks for sharing.
It's extremely rare that I get ants in my raised beds because I spray this on the wood that comes in contact with the ground. It also works on termites. The oil itself can be used for cooking, burns, acne, burns. It's the Limonene in both the citrus zest and the TeeTree that makes it effective and safe.
Find a ant bed to practice on 😂 .... That's so funny because my wife said I looked like I was enjoying killing the ants. LOL... "I hope that's not a bad thing" because I really did!😅

I think the ants will appear somewhere else or maybe in another yard, their tunnel is very very long and this oil in my opinion only killed the ones that were on the surface.
Hey thanks for your input and I would not disagree at all. The point is not to kill "every" fire ant while it is effective at destroying the exoskeleton of any ants that the mix comes in contact with making them vulnerable to not only the elements but insects like crickets that will eat the ants in their vulnerable state. It removes them 100% from the area treated.

@@MrsQueen Absolutely. The oil will act as a magnifier and burn leaf spot. Even water will do it which is why drip irrigation has become so popular. It's often times not the spray itself but the time of day being applied. How's that shed coming along. Haven't seen any updates.
@@MrsQueen Sheet rock would be ideal. It will change the entire personality for the better. Seeing what you have done so far makes me proud of you. I’m having to pick and choose building my raised beds this season and use more box store starts for lack of the time it takes tending seeds. It’s people like you that inspire me. 🙏🏽👍🏽

I have a passion for music but as the channel has grown I can't help but think about what if the owner on the music decides they don't want anyone to use the music as with the tictoc situation a few months ago. A lot of my audi got removed. So I don't use music as much.
Instead of the Dr. Woods Naturals Castile Liquid Soap Tea Tree or some other liquid dish soap, I wonder if the "bubble blowing liquid" bottles we can buy for our children to play with would work as a better surfactant?
If you are just looking for a sufficient then I would imagine yes. What the tea tree has is an active ingredient of d’limonene which strips the exoskeleton from the ants exposing them to the elements and eventually kills them. D’limonene also acts as fungicide and disinfectant. The peppermint acts as a repellent. The oil is your sufficient and the orange zest also contains d’limonene.

Good video. I like that it is homemade. I buy limonene because I don't have the time or energy to make the homemade stuff. I simply mixed the orange oil/orange oil with water and a big squirt of dishwashing liquid. It worked beautifully, but I don't want to have to keep buying orange oil and having to apply to different Mounds. I would like to be able to scatter this bait under my house and around my house where ants have been going to see if they would take it back to their nest and queen and annihilate them naturally that way. Getting under my house, even though I am on pier and beam, is no picnic. I have made so many different ant baits from sugar, honey mixed with borax in varying amounts, and it's been very difficult to get them to eat it. I'm going to try this since I think ants could be very like wasps in that they want more sweet Foods in the spring but more protein in the fall. We're coming up to fall soon and most possibly a very difficult winter. In that case the ants would be working especially hard to get protein sources for the young and the entire ant colony, before winter comes. I was thinking about mixing something with the bait where they would eat it more readily and not eat it immediately and just die themselves, but that they would bring it back to the nest. This video is perfect in the suggestion of egg yolks, a good protein source, and is nice and smelly to attract them. I noticed in the comments that many people like the music but it's definitely individual tastes. It really got annoying to me after several minutes. Would be great if you could change it up to go from your beginning suspense sounds to some kind of Mission Impossible type theme.. real music,.. not just a constant sound like a rubber band being plucked with an accompanying single drum beat. That really did get irritating very quickly. I just turned the sound completely off when that was distracting me from your video. I'm going to write down your recipe and try it. Can't wait to see how well it works! Good job on the video. It's good that you are open to criticism as well as compliments. That's how we improve and get better in anything. God bless!
Likes and dislikes well noted. You are engaging and that's always a good thing as long as it is civl. All videos aren't for everyone. Just as all music is not for everyone. I listen to R&B, Pop, country and even rap. When it's a song I don't care for I simply move past. Respectfully, if you look at any of my videos you'll hear that music is a dominant factor and very intentional. My channel is relatively new so I am still learning. Not beyond change because to do so would be to limit growth. With that being said. You would be the first to voice a dislike for the style of video I produce. Not that others haven't thought the same. Just no other have voiced it. What I do know it that my channel is different. I won't say for better or worse. It matches my personality. I'm very passionate and extremely intentional. I want everyone to like me but even on my best days I would still find someone that don't. That my good friend, I can live with. You my friend are over thinking. If it is organic oranges you want they are available. The acid in citrus peel as well as the tea tree plant has the active compound d'limonene. Find anything with this compound and you will more than likely have the same effect.

Yes it works on termites. There are actually some pest control companies that treat with orange oil. I spray it on my raised beds that come in contact with the soil to repeal termites.
Spring is around the corner, and I've seen a couple of mounds pop up in the backyard. I'm definately going to try this. I just hope I have enough patience to do it. Your grandpa would be so proud of you. So, where did the ants go? 😳😂
You can use the orange oil for so many other uses when adding vitamin c. I could have purchased it but the beautiful is in creating. We have an abundance of blessings that nature offers with just a little work. Remember, faith without work is useless. 🙏🏽

I’m trying to see how long it will last or if the oil will grow spores over time because it’s food grade. I’m thinking something with vitamin e which acts as a preservative. Seeing you mulch video further fuels my interest.
The crickets will eat the ants that have come in contact with the orange oil and the mound becomes uninhabitable so any remaining ants move. As long as they are not in my garden I can live with that.
Trying something a lil different with this video. I also spray the wood on my raised beds with this to deter termites. The ants or termites wont go near it. Being a beginner gardener there is so much I don't know so when I do discover something new I try to explain it in a way that I wish it were explained to me. The fire ants keep rabbits out my garden. Those little guys have saved my strawberry patch and they also eat some of the berries that grow. I don't care as long as they bite the snot out of those rabbits. Every piece of land is different though so I understand
Hey, there is always more than 1 way to look at things. That's why I call my channel "Growing Out The Box". Because I grow in raised beds rabbits have never been an issue. At least so far. We do have a big cat "Marcello" that patrols the garden and does it very well. I thank you for commenting and hope that you have not only subscribed but clicked the notification bell as well. I have done it many times throughout my garden. Most times the ants are closer to the edge of the container. Test a small amount first and pour close to the edge.
I’m not sure if essential oils are made the same. I use this orange oil to cook with so I know it’s safe. I have purchased medina orange oil and tried it with the tea tree Castile soap and it works. I had okra growing in that raised bed and it didn’t effect it. It may work the same but I personally have never used essential oils. The orange oil is very easy to make and the tea tree Castile soap is listed in my description. I hope this helps

I’ve used Seven, that only helped a little. The granular pest control is annoying because you have to wet it in immediately after application, but not too much. I’ve switched to Orange Guard, but it’s too expensive and there are too many fire ant hills in the area that I’m aiming to treat. So I’m going to try this. It seems like a little goes a long way. Which I need because I’m on a budget.
I do have something but I'm only testing it this season. I'm feeling pretty good about it though. Georgia White Clay. I used it last year on my fruit trees and it did pretty good. The japanese love my eggplant and okra so I am going to try it on them.
@growingoutthebox please share if it works on Japanese Beatles. They are horrible and have really destroyed my grape leaves and sweet potato leaves this year! Aren't the giant white, root-eating grubs the larvae for these Japanese Beatles?
@@MrsQueen That would be a great video. Just have to make sure that the baby powder doesn’t affect any beneficials or can be used in a vegetable garden. Most people won’t care but a lot in the gardening community get tight but cheeks about anything that affects beneficials. You might be on to something.

I dont have a big mound, the pricks are underneath and have little tunnels and entrances everywhere, like 15 holes. I'm screwed. Good thing I didn't invest too much into the spot. Little assholes.
Mine have dug tunnels that open inches away from my plants. Destroying the ant hill won't kill them all since most are probably chilling on my veggies as I type

Good video. I like that it is homemade. I buy limonene because I don't have the time or energy to make the homemade stuff. I simply mixed the orange oil/orange oil with water and a big squirt of dishwashing liquid. It worked beautifully, but I don't want to have to keep buying orange oil and having to apply to different Mounds. I would like to be able to scatter this bait under my house and around my house where ants have been going to see if they would take it back to their nest and queen and annihilate them naturally that way. Getting under my house, even though I am on pier and beam, is no picnic. I have made so many different ant baits from sugar, honey mixed with borax in varying amounts, and it's been very difficult to get them to eat it. I'm going to try this since I think ants could be very like wasps in that they want more sweet Foods in the spring but more protein in the fall. We're coming up to fall soon and most possibly a very difficult winter. In that case the ants would be working especially hard to get protein sources for the young and the entire ant colony, before winter comes. I was thinking about mixing something with the bait where they would eat it more readily and not eat it immediately and just die themselves, but that they would bring it back to the nest. This video is perfect in the suggestion of egg yolks, a good protein source, and is nice and smelly to attract them. I noticed in the comments that many people like the music but it's definitely individual tastes. It really got annoying to me after several minutes. Would be great if you could change it up to go from your beginning suspense sounds to some kind of Mission Impossible type theme.. real music,.. not just a constant sound like a rubber band being plucked with an accompanying single drum beat. That really did get irritating very quickly. I just turned the sound completely off when that was distracting me from your video. I'm going to write down your recipe and try it. Likes and dislikes well noted. You are engaging and that's always a good thing as long as it is civl. All videos aren't for everyone. Just as all music is not for everyone. I listen to R&B, Pop, country and even rap. When it's a song I don't care for I simply move past. Respectfully, if you look at any of my videos you'll hear that music is a dominant factor and very intentional. My channel is relatively new so I am still learning. Not beyond change because to do so would be to limit growth. With that being said. You would be the first to voice a dislike for the style of video I produce. Not that others haven't thought the same. Just no other have voiced it. What I do know it that my channel is different. I won't say for better or worse. It matches my personality. I'm very passionate and extremely intentional. I want everyone to like me but even on my best days I would still find someone that don't. That my good friend, I can live with. Being different and being first are often times synonymous. What wasn't, now is.... and only time can tell what was right.

You my friend are over thinking. If it is organic oranges you want they are available. The acid in citrus peel as well as the tea tree plant has the active compound d'limonene. Find anything with this compound and you will more than likely have the same effect.

Yes it works on termites. There are actually some pest control companies that treat with orange oil. I spray it on my raised beds that come in contact with the soil to repeal termites.

Yes this will get the ants out of your garden bed and the earthworms will move away

You can use the orange oil for so many other uses when adding vitamin c. I could have purchased it but the beautiful is in creating. We have an abundance of blessings that nature offers with just a little work. Remember, faith without work is useless. 🙏🏽

I’m trying to see how long it will last or if the oil will grow spores over time because it’s food grade. I’m thinking something with vitamin e which acts as a preservative. Seeing you mulch video further fuels my interest.

The crickets will eat the ants that have come in contact with the orange oil and the mound becomes uninhabitable so any remaining ants move. As long as they are not in my garden I can live with that.

Trying something a lil different with this video. I also spray the wood on my raised beds with this to deter termites. The ants or termites wont go near it. The fire ants keep rabbits out my garden. Those little guys have saved my strawberry patch and they also eat some of the berries that grow. I don't care as long as they bite the snot out of those rabbits. Every piece of land is different though so I understand
Hey, there is always more than 1 way to look at things. That's why I call my channel "Growing Out The Box". Because I grow in raised beds rabbits have never been an issue. At least so far. I have done it many times throughout my garden. Most times the ants are closer to the edge of the container. Test a small amount first and pour close to the edge.
Does this work with natural orange and tea tree essential oils? Does this hurt the plants?
I’m not sure if essential oils are made the same. I use this orange oil to cook with so I know it’s safe. I have purchased medina orange oil and tried it with the tea tree Castile soap and it works. I had okra growing in that raised bed and it didn’t effect it. It may work the same but I personally have never used essential oils. The orange oil is very easy to make and the tea tree Castile soap is listed in my description.

I’ve used Seven, that only helped a little. The granular pest control is annoying because you have to wet it in immediately after application, but not too much. I’ve switched to Orange Guard, but it’s too expensive and there are too many fire ant hills in the area that I’m aiming to treat. So I’m going to try this. It seems like a little goes a long way. Which I need because I’m on a budget.
This always works for me. You have to really soak the mound.
Got anything for Japanese beetles?
I do have something but I'm only testing it this season. I'm feeling pretty good about it though. Georgia White Clay. I used it last year on my fruit trees and it did pretty good. The japanese love my eggplant and okra so I am going to try it on them.

I dont have a big mound, the pricks are underneath and have little tunnels and entrances everywhere, like 15 holes. I'm screwed. Good thing I didn't invest too much into the spot. Little assholes.
Everywhere you see them I would at least try this. It really works.
Mine have dug tunnels that open inches away from my plants. Destroying the ant hill won't kill them all since most are probably chilling on my veggies as I type
