    Hello people!
    In this devlog (#13) I'll be going over the changes I've made on the level up system. I was unsatisfied with the old leveling system as it was very difficult to balance. I ended up adding a system that is somewhat similar to Hades' Boon system.
    Adventure of Tuck is a roguelite game in which you play as Tuck. Tuck wants to become a writer but in order to get inspiration, he went out to the forest to clear his mind. This is where his adventure begins.

    Only 500 subs? Mate, if you keep up the quality both of the video's and the game's, you'll blow up soon so keep up the good work!

    Great devlog! It's cool to see you taking inspiration from Hades for this. It definitely sounds like an improvement.

      Thank you! Yes I really love the way Hades handled it and it definitely helps making replayability more fun

    Great video, new leveling system sounds interesting, this kind of system will definitely need a lot of balancing and reworking but the system sounds good at the moment!
    Congrats on 500 subs btw!

    • @GoldenEvolution

      Thank you! The system is at least a lot easier to balance compared to the leveling system, and also a lot more fun. There's also just a small chance where the stars align perfectly and you just get that godlike build, which is perfectly fine by me 😅.
      And wow 500 subs already, seems like it went by so quickly. Thanks!!

      @@GoldenEvolution i bet it it is!
      And that happens, it's luck of the draw in games like Hades!
      Sometimes you get absolutely awful boons but that's just how it is

    Do you have a lobby like before you start a run

    • @GoldenEvolution
      @GoldenEvolution  Před 2 lety

      No, there's no lobby. The only reason I would add a lobby is if I added multiplayer, which is currently not planned. Maybe in the future 🙃

    This game reminds me a Archvale

    • @GoldenEvolution
      @GoldenEvolution  Před 2 lety

      I consider that as a compliment as I think Archvale is absolutely amazing.
      Apart from that, I played the demo of Archvale yesterday and I can assure you that they aren't much alike at all apart from the top-down pixel art style 😄

      @@GoldenEvolution I hope it didnt sound like an insult to your game. There are plenty games which look same. (Terraria - Starbound, Minecraft - Unturned and so on). Just dont lose motivation and keep goin man :). U have a lot of work to do. I have many project unfinished, but I lost motivation when I saw, how much I need to do to complete them.

    • @GoldenEvolution
      @GoldenEvolution  Před 2 lety

      @@EnchikO Well a comment like that is always a bit of a double edged sword to me. At one side it's great that my game reminds you of an amazing game like Archvale, and on the other side I am trying to make a completely unique experience. I understand you meant it positively so I gladly take the compliment! I do plan on finishing the game, as long as that may take haha. Good luck as well on your gamedev journey, try to finish a couple smaller games like gamejam games so you get that feeling of finishing a game and then over time work on bigger and bigger projects and I am sure you'll manage to finish those as well then!

    scrap the old boss, we need 1:00

    The three upgrades that are seen here are a bit bland. Maybe give the player the choice between two normal upgrades and one upgrade that has a big upside and a downside. Like Player deal 60 % more damage and receive 50 % more damage. Also for colour blind people, your upgrade system is truly unreadable. Seems fun otherwise :)

    • @LplKass
      @LplKass Před 2 lety

      Also you might consider adding some screenshake when you hit an enemy

    • @GoldenEvolution
      @GoldenEvolution  Před 2 lety

      @@LplKass The upgrades for these are supposed to be somewhat minor, since there are also ability upgrades that change your abilities by quite a lot. Next to that, you get these upgrades quite a lot so I don't want them to be too overpowered. I do really dig the idea of having upgrades that have both upsides and downsides though so that's a really awesome suggestion! And thanks for telling me about the colour issue, it's definitely something that I need to look at for more than one thing. Lastly, there is screenshake when hitting enemies, it's just turned down quite a bit for the videos. There's a slider in game that can increase/decrease the screenshake to everyones liking.
      Truly appreciate the feedback, thanks!! :D
