The only difference here is the character of Santa Claus was based on an actual person from a loooooong time ago. He's not *purely* mythical.

I just got done watching this movie, one of the best movies I've seen, let alone one of the best holiday Christmas movies I've seen. Edgy,dark,humor,action, seriousness. If you haven't watched this yet you need too. Won't disappoint...

very fun movie. Gibson makes for a believable, real-life Santa Claus. Ben Shapiro's portrayal of the bratty little rich kid was spot on!
This movie surpassed my expectations. I figured I would like it, but I had no idea I would love it. No one in the world could pull this off except the actors in it. The hamster / pet store scenes were done so well. Subtle humor in some places, but made it gold!
That kid is giving off an elementary school Ben Shapiro vibe.

Realize that someone has to go through lot of trouble to make these movies, so I always think of the people's families who eat, buy for food, provide for their kids, have a house, have a car, etc. By pirating, you are damaging the industry. It just costs a few bucks to rent anyway. So, I don't mind paying that to give back and make sure that movies keep getting made. If everyone did like you, we wouldn't have a movie industry. Right? So, please, rethink that behavior and consider how your actions affect others. Okay?

Way better than the imdb score shows. Not just another cash in on Christmas movie. It's got a good balance, it's story is fairly simple yet original and Gibson and Goggins are always pretty captivating.
They won me over about half way through. Somehow Santa Claus as John Wick works.

This movie in very entertaining. I love the industrious approach to the fat man and the elves. Never seen anything like it. It's about as close to reality as I could imagine. If you take this movie as serious as it takes itself (not very), you're going to love it. I sure as hell did.

This movie is awesome! Ignore the “Mel Gibson hating” critics and the entire Hollywood industry that blacklisted him. This movie is great and Mel Gibson was great in it! Definitely watch it though and judge for yourself. Personally, I loved it!

I saw it, and yeah, if you're expecting a fast paced action/comedy romp then you're going to be disappointed. But if you're looking for a darkly comedic (the movie is played straight, but you can tell they have their tongue firmly in their cheek while doing it) character focused movie that builds to a well earned violent climax, then this movie is for you. All the actors here are fantastic, especially Gibson's disillusioned Santa struggling to make ends meet and Walton Goggins psychopathic hitman. The writing is entertaining, the characters are fun and/or endearing, the pacing is solid, and it's a well done deconstruction of Santa mythos. If you're looking for alternative Christmas movies, then this is a good one to watch. I can absolutely see this gaining a cult following over the years.

This movie was weirdly good. I liked it because it had such a fresh and original take on Santa Claus. Movie had random and cheesy lines, but the acting was great, so the even though some scenes were cheesy it was delivered well. If you got nothing better to do, watch it. Its entertaining.

I'm very much going to check this out when it does. This feels more like the definite R-rated Christmas Action flick than what Die Hard is and I'm surprised that there aren't many films like this out there.
