I have to flatter myself this time. I just moved to the step 4 because I felt I should move on from the colaborations with NEW MODELS and I actually started creating editorials and I realized I have to build a team. I have to say Im glad I did it by myself and this video confirms I am on the good path. Big thanks to you Ian, you are a big support. And Im sorry for everyone reading this, it is more for me than for others. Wish you all good luck, keep chasing the dream, we will make it!
Short, sweet and simple! Finally some no-nonsense advice.
Always love your content! Definitely looking forward about model agency topic ❤️
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing all of this info in such a easy breakdown.
Incredibly helpful video. Rarely do I actually come across videos like this that truly guide you instead of providing vague and generic outlines that skip a massive amount of steps. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your channel
Thank you for the video, Ian. Very clear and straight to the point. It was helpful and I enjoyed it a lot.
Ian, thanks a lot for your support and your help. I am really inspired by you. You makes me keep going, don't give up, do my best. And actually I have a little wish, one day work with you on studio as a photographer and gaffer. Thanks !
Love the minimal list of famous fashion photographers, missed out most of the best, but included the most hyped.
The video a lot of people needed. Thank you!
You are awesome Mr Ian. I've had several false starts in this industry. The "Keep Going" resonated with me. This summer, after being totally burned out, I had to stop completely and pull back to rest and take 3-4 months off. Now I realize that I'm pretty much having to start again from scratch.
I work consistently in the industry. Your video is the most on-point for how it's done. Good job
you are such an inspiration and an icon... love to meet you and see your studio work... you are such a brilliant modern fashion photographer. thanks and more power
Needed this - I had no idea where to start. Thanks!
You (and your team) are amazing!!!
This is insightful...Definitely would love to see more on Agencies. Especially on photographers❤🎉
this was really helpful, Ian. thanks for this.

Love your work. Remind me when I did studio personal work. Wish you great success during the year.
ive been shooting for a year and a half. so many shoots so many models. finally ready to get my portfolio out
Very inspiring! I dream of being a fashion photographer
I will add that it takes time, hard work, dedication and TALENT!! there is no magic pill you can swallow to become a photographer!! It’s not enough to be technically good. You will need to be innovative, have heart and passion for making images. Not just from a business stand point.
I agree, but not with the talent. I believe you dont need to have talent if you have the dedication and hard work. Also in fashion photography I find necessary to have a passion and lead the photosession by your heart.
Of course you need talent. That's why there's so much poor photography.@@ricardoleon2608
I appreciate the knowledge!!!
Thank you so much for this!!
This was so helpful
I have been confused for a while

This is very Amazing and Educating. Thanks Sir
Great breakdown of the industry. Of course after all of this a person still needs talent and that cannot be taught.

That's very interesting! Can you do a video about model agencies ?
Hi Ian! loved this video defo found some new tips to keep me motivated. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to get booked jobs?
Ian, thank you for the video. Always great.
Regarding the training, any suggestion? Is it critical to have a formal training?
Hello. I really liked your video. Can you talk more about model agencies? Thank you a lot
Please more about fashion photographer
I would really like to learn more about contacting agency’s!
感谢分享!
Hey question. Do model agencies pay for test shoots. NOT pay you, but pay for the studio time you use for the test shoots
Nice videos, I do have one question and is about equipment, what's the minimum u advise to have (camera, lens, etc..)? Greetings from Colombia!
Interested in a more in-depth video on modelling agencies, please.
Thanks. You told me everything right. I've watched all your videos. I also like direct hard light. GREETINGS from Russia!
Thanks for watching!
I like the simplicity with which you shoot . If you listen to other teachers, I'm just nothing compared to them. I like your style.
In Russia, the majority is against the war, we are the same people as you and we want to love to live and travel
@@ARTEGO70 just like in Germany 80 years ago
What book would you recommend to read about the history of photography and lighting?
Thoroughly Wednesday. Morning college
At Day.
I am very impressed with your knowledge, but it will be even better if you share the correct post-production process for everyone to refer to.
How do you get the clothing. Do you just buy a bunch of clothes and use them for the shoot?
The 80s and 90s were so great. I wasn’t part of it but I wanted it to be.
The distinction should be made that this is how to become an unpaid fashion photographer. I have a well established portfolio, have been published multiple times, and am in touch with the only modeling agency I know of in my area and shoot with their models frequently however I've never made any money in the fashion industry. I've been sent plenty of cool expensive clothes by brands, do shoots for fashion designers etc but really it's just what I do for fun. The only photography I make money from is client shoots. Couples, families, seniors etc.
He did specify that the editorial pathway does NOT pay or if they do, it's barely anything significant. He did say that adverts and working with brands was the money maker. So you go through the steps he listed (which is by no means the only logical route to do it, nor is it the way I did it either), do the editorial shoots so that the brand names can see your work AND be willing to hire you. I totally agree with you that shooting editorial is basically showing technical competency as a photographer & building portfolio for the "REAL" clients- aka those who'll pay you. IMO
@@SanjoBakare Yep totally. And I feel like a lot of it is where you are located. Because if you aren't in a fashion capital even if you get yourself a great portfolio there are way less networking opportunities unless you want to travel. You may pick up some local brands if there are any around you but it seems like the bigger brands go with people local to their HQ most of the time.
@@NickDelDuca that is so true unfortunately. That sadly the nature of the hustle. I don't have a solution to that yet but I think that's the name of the survival game of our times- how to creatively out-think the competition. Best of luck to you in your hustle as we all try our darn best to do that.

Sir plz make a video for How to make Portfolio for photographer
I hope you would make online course for Fashion Photography 😭😭😭
I would like to do advertising photography. Do you do mentoring?
How to get job as photographer’s assistant ?
Advertising/ commercial
You probably already had a good start, a decent family that can provide for your photography education/lighting equipments/camera all that. The rest would just come smoothly
Getting free models is already hard in Belgium, i have managed at times , but the building a team step is like nearly impossible. Sometimes i can get a MUA to collab one time for free but they will want to make specific shots for their folio often with way to much makeup and closeup shots of the model in a certain pose that brings out the makeup better.
But a stylist and so on, i never seen any of those ever. They are rare and i HIGHLY doubt any of them will work for free
Hello, I am a beginner and I would like to know how I can transmit the photos on the monitor, while taking them with the camera??? THANK YOU!!!
Hi! This is called 'tethering'. You have to use a program like Adobe Lightroom or Capture One on your computer and plug your camera in for photos to transfer automatically.
@@ianhippolyte Oh thank you so much sir!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌

Bro age is depending come to industri because my age over 40'
These photographers, who you say are people of color, how would I know that? I only see their work, which is opposite of the camera, but the photographer is behind the camera, whom I can’t see. So I have no idea who the photographer could be.

Best 7 1/2 minutes you'll spend if you want to get in to Fashion photography.
Could you tell me what kind of fashion photography jack bridgland does? Or for a more specific question, how to edit like him or is there a specific name for that job? Is it a retouching department?

Great advice ! Thank you
