    3:54 "most schools are not using this term anymore", well in Texas many teachers if not most, still use the magic e term to describe silent e's, in fact, I asked around a couple of teachers I know and they have never heard the term "split digraph"!!

      That's really interesting! Thanks for sharing 🙂 In the UK we seem to have changed over to the term.

      @@LittleLearnersVideos It really is, last year the state passed new legislation to remedy the reading problems the school districts have, does your state/province also evaluate the school's performance? what happens if a student fails to meet the required reading knowledge by the end of the grade, does he repeat the grade?

      @@thomasjust2663 We don't tend to repeat years here, only in very rare circumstances. If children don't meet the expected level they will be further supported in the next year group. School pupil progress is constantly assessed, our government is very data obsessed when it comes to schools!

    • @LittleLearnersVideos
      @LittleLearnersVideos  Před 3 lety +2

      Digraphs are two letters that make one sound. Dipthongs are sounds that are made up of two vowel sounds that join together to make one, long vowel sound.

    Which one should I teach first phonics sound or alphabets sounds

    • @LittleLearnersVideos
      @LittleLearnersVideos  Před 3 lety +1

      I would recommend teaching letter sounds first and then letter names 🙂 You can teach the names alongside the sounds but focus on the sounds.
