I understand anime onlies talking about the morals, but I atleast respect that this anime has a protagonist that seems much realistic in these messed up situations, not all the time we are going to need a naruto or thorfinn protagonist that teaches us violence is wrong 😂😂
I mean this show clearly doesn’t glamorize murder or anything like that, it was literally jus the only thing he could do- if anything this scene exemplifies how terrible killing a human being is lmao
… I dunno about that ‘realistic.’ Dude needed a quest prompt to fully inform/demand for him to not hold back, and speedran the seven stages of grief in however few seconds he took to get up from tanking a blast.
Contextually, sure, it tracks, but just would pump the brakes on calling it ‘realistic.’
Also, he goes from actively agonizing over the first kill to putting spice on the sixth within a minute, giving time to deny ‘mercy.’
@@alecLogan But it is realistic. It became Mandatory for him to kill them. It was either he killed them or he was going to be killed by the system. And in reality most are going to make the decision to kill than take the moral high ground and be the one to die. He wasn't going to die and leave his Mother and Sister, so he had to choose to kill them.
Its not just that the ones after the first were easier for him. The others were just stunned that he had killed him which gave him time to reflect. After that the rest came at him in full force, not giving him any more time to reflect on killing them. At that point he had to kill them before they killed him.
Also it's not reflected in the anime, but that blast had taken away half of his hp. So they had the ability to kill him. So it was either him or them.
i see this from manhwa materials a lot. most of it was modeled after shonen type materials (tower of god, god of highschool, lookism, solo leveling, manager kim, etc), or course, it's an established viewership. it's safe to develop from, almost guaranteed success, but man, they are not afraid to break free of the formula. they aren't afraid to vilify the protagonist, or challenging the relativity of normative morality. sure, main MC, righteous, nice guy, weak, all that shonen's unspoken blueprint, but when shit hits the fan, the nice guy can go into depths of hell and allow himself to change to survive.
@@reeses8607 There’s “it being mandatory to kill them” and there’s “he had to get it spelled out to him by the system to make it click.”
Dude spent half+ the previous episode calling the shot of them being up to some mess, but didn’t cross the finish line of “I’ll have to kill them” on his own? Nah, that’s nerfing his basic addition for a dramatic scene.
Hell, that they saw what was _purportedly_ the ‘Weakest Hunter of Mankind’ stand up from getting blasted, and admonished the caster like it would be _possible_ to only ‘kind of’ hurt an E rank with a blast like that. Even _before_ that, they see that neither patsy (who they _opened this episode_ citing “no way either of them can do it”) was wounded or even ‘kind of’ tired from facing a C rank boss, when they _know from experience_ what that’s like as a team; their brains were _also_ nerfed to match, as if a D rank Hunter with equipment good enough to no diff a C rank boss wouldn’t have the stones to have a go at a group of C Hunters.
The situation could have been more direct and still had the drama, but they milked it harder than necessary and stuff doesn’t track as well as it ‘should’ if we’re wanting to dub “realistic” in on it.
Remember in the last episode they stopped him just before he accepted his daily rewards
Love your reaction. Us Manhwa readers are being well fed with the animation to the OST. So freakin’ happy
5:34 It’s informal for ‘big bro,’ and groups with a certain structure to them allow for calling the ‘boss’ in a similar fashion.
And as I understand it, that's what the Yakuza call their boss. So it's got a sort of tough guy element to it as well.
I like the second Allona called him Junpei.. Poor Itadori. :P Do they not see his aura? I wondered if that's just the audience.
okay so I'm watching the anime with french subtitles and when he says in english "I've been leveling up this entire time", in french they translated it to "The awakening of my power is limitless." Wich made this so much more epic and chilly!
I'm very curious what the actual sentences are supposed to be. Obviously no spoilers but in the official English Manhwa volume (volume 2), he uses the following phrases in this fight:
- "I'm asking...if you hunters are ready to be hunted." right before he starts attacking/killing them.
- "Hunters have to hunt. Hunters...are born to hunt." as he's killing them. (I think this is internal dialogue)
- "But there's just one thing...I continuously level up." right after slamming Dongsuk to the ground.
Personally, I love the English translations in the manhwa because the phrases sound much more natural.
Couldn't disagree with this more. "I've been leveling up this entire time" implies that he's been leveling up _as he's taking out the whole team,_ which is infinitely more impactful.
@@temporal_paradox It's been a while since I read the manhwa but is he actually "leveling up" as he's fighting them? I don't think I saw his level actually change but he's just gaining fighting experience and gets access to new skills/rewards and stuff when finishing the quest. After defeating the Spider, he levels up to Level 21 and is still at the exact same level after killing the first guy in that squad. His stats are also exactly the same too besides his HP and MP changing due to the battle. Even after killing the entire squad, the system shows he got a reward and doesn't say anything about leveling up.
Regardless, I don't really care how they phrase it unless the translation is misrepresenting the intended meaning.
@@liam1902 It never makes it clear, but there's no reason to think he wouldn't get exp for it. regardless it's still a much more badass line
@@temporal_paradox Well then that's simply two points of view, Saying his power is limitless is way more impactfull than simpply levelling up, I mean fine you're levelling up but rn you're 21, not 100+ nothing to brag about.
Also just like you say, it is not clear wether he's gaining xp from killing them or not.
Great stuff boss
I love how they use writing and music to turn what otherwise would've been an edgy scene into an emotional one. This isn't just a protagonist throwing their humanity away and forgetting these are also people. We get to see his surprise at the system telling him to kill or be killed, we see him take a second to process that he indeed raised his blade and took a life, telling himself that he's now a murderer despite this being a clear self defense situation. The music gives this vibe that this character is being forced to do things that he really doesn't want to do. I remember thinking this scene in the manhwa was quite a bit edgy and badass, but seeing it in this anime with the music and VA, I think I shed a tear. Truly beautiful.
Cant wait for The first ever "ARISE!!!" . Hope they make it a master piece.
💪

❤️🔥👑🛐
I am an anime watcher but I realy wonder what is level is now .
WHen he fought the spider he was lower then C since his debuff was not working at first .
Then went to C I guess when he killed the spider ?
Killed the D D C C C Squads and then the C + who was the leader ? SO he is like B or B + now ? And level lets say he was 21 after the spider( jumped 3 level ) Killing player ranked D and C should give a lots of exp . So If a D is 1 level and the C are 2 levels except the last one since you win less exp when leveling up ?
21 +1+1 = 23 + 5 = 28 ? Then he killed the C + 2 level ? SO he is like level 30 now ? and B + rank in strenght ?
Is that explained in the manhwa ? Can't wait for next episode to see the level he is now .
If i recall he does not get exp for killing people. And after killing the spider he was indeed 21.
The urgent quest to kill these guys gave him extra skill and attribute points but no levels. As for his power level he might be around C maybe low B rank at the current moment.
@@Nek-oskihe does get exp for beating anyone he fights basically if they come at him with bloodlust I believe.
@@kamlee8160 Still it did not level him up beating those guys otherwise they'd shown the "Level up" pop up window cause they usually did in the Manhwa so the reader could keep up. He's at 21 lvl even if he did get some exp from them (I re-read that moment and there was no mention of him leveling up for them)
He gains exp but to compare it to monsters in a dungeon or from an instance its like a drop of water and a pool of water. When he does gain exp from killing people it does nothing. But to clarify it he was lvl 21 after defeating the boss monster. So i dont want to spoil too much on what his rank is currently but he can be compared to Mid-High C rank, I want to explain as to why he isnt higher but that would just be spoiling too much, But you are onto something when ranking individual Stats. As for creditability, I own and read the Light novels and the manhwa.
@@AlmightyCris oh ok I see so player killing dont give much even when they are bigger grades interesting I saw lots of games where Pk give more because its harder. (Players are smarter) Crazy he is Mid C when the guy he killed was looking like a solid C tier since he clearly was the strongest C in his team
Jinho a real one
