Got recommended this and as a Caro Kann-oisseur, this is a great watch. My favorite Qb6 idea is as a response to the fantasy variation right after f3 is played, where if you face the best engine move (Nc3) you can get a triangle structure with e6 and against any other move on move 4, you get e5 and if they take with the d pawn, the fun really kicks off after you play Bf5

If Bxe1 then white has Qd7, and it turns out that black has no better option but to give up a rook to prevent mate, and after the smoke clears, white ends up a piece up (25...Bxe1 26.Qd7 Rf7 27.Qxe8+ Rf8 28.Qxe6+ Rf7 29.Rxe1; importantly, with the queen on e6 and rook on e1, the knight on e2 is protected twice). I love this series and am really enjoying the format and instruction. I do think it was kind of interesting how he pointed out Nc3 is not great in this situation because it blocks the c pawn from c3 or c4, but in the previous game where he played white against the Caro Kann, he never ended up playing c3 or c4, and instead ended up playing Nc3. I get it that the other game wasn't an exchange variation and the Nc3 move happened much later, I was just surprised because that part of the previous lesson stuck with me, and then here he's pointing out how Nc3 is a bad idea.

So it seems to me that, when Danya talks about trapping the bishop on h4, it is severely weakening to black's king. He says he doesn't think white has any way to exploit the weakness of black's king. How is he evaluating that? Just the fact that black has so many pieces around the king to defend? There're no good checks? White's pieces aren't placed very well? While I agree with and trust Danya, I'm just trying to understand the logic of why black isn't in danger. 16:07 for reference.

Basically, pseudo-activity means fake activity, it refers to moves that look like they're active and accomplish a lot, but in reality accomplish very little. In the context of the video, pushing White's kingside pawns looks active and intimidating, but in reality creates a ton of weaknesses and is easily parried by moving the bishop back.

As an 1800 player myself, you're giving way too much credit to actually knowing anything about openings

Bishop to G4 LOL LOL kids don't ever put your Bishop where it can easily be kicked out with the pond! What did you think was going to happen you're attacking his Queen you don't think he's going to protect it with the pond LOL I mean it shows that you're 1600s I mean but 1200 shouldn't play like this

Bg4 is one of the best moves there, I wonder if you know what’s chess since you also can’t even spell pawn

I honestly believe this format is the most instructive way to teach/learn chess. Danya, you do a phenomenal job discussing general strategy, tactics, openings, the games in general. And having that happen during a real game against a person makes for lots of interesting ideas coming up.
Much like you were inspired to play the Caro, I’m completely inspired to play and learn more chess now.! You are AWESOME!!
