I have a really nice 1200C picked her up this winter. Lot of people crack the wife bike joke but when you don't have 15k, you get what you can! I was lucky. 5k only 3800 miles on an 04 and a ton of work already done. Nice video!

I had a '72 sporty. Unique bikes. Had a 2.3 gallon tank that was perfect. By the time you needed gas, your arse was ready to get off for a break anyway.

I have an 2001 883 sporster . well what was once an 883 lol stage 5 screaming eagle package now 1200 . almost nothing from idle to 2500 rpm cause of cam . but 3k to 6500 its a beast when I wind 1st out and smack second usually pulls the front up . ppl tell me it's more like a sport bike now cause it's sounds like it's screaming lol so far no new 5.0 mustang or Camaro can touch me lol. So yeah they can be fast
I cammed my 1200 with Feuling cams, a v&h stainless 2-1 exhaust, s&s intake and a FP3 and I too love smacking it into second and having the front wheel lift. I am doing my Barnett clutch this week and I can't wait to feel the power hit the road. I bet it will nail that front wheel much higher off the ground with the new clutch. It is easily the funnest bike I have ever ripped! Where I am at is at perfect sea level (ocean is 100 feet away from me and there might be a 4-10 foot elevation, along with air that is usually cold and holy hell the Sportster ABSOLUTELY loves it!

I think the bigger Harleys look like grandpa bikes. Sportster's look great and if you build them up they will really run. I have to admit I would be bored on a stock sporty though.
I knew it would be detonation before I heard just by the way you described it. I noticed you used wide open throttle from low revs in too high a gear witch is guaranteed to cause detonation in a hot air cooled motor that is HOT and has low octane fuel. I run 98ron fuel in my sporty and I live in a very hot climate. If I wrapped the throttle on like that when lugging the motor my engine would PING also. Try better fuel, change down a gear and use some throttle control.
One of the only features I don't like highlighted the drive belt I wish they were chain, get a rock in that shit and your belts gone, I'm not hating I ride Harley myself I'm just saying it sucks

I hav an 05. Tried to have the Harley dealership put on different risers and top clamp. Said they couldn't do it. How did you do it?
Mine was a 07 and all the parts are interchangable with the '72'. I did all mine myself and i have zero mech knowledge!

2007 mate, it had stage 1 air filter and big slip ons with pretty much no baffles!
