I've been watching movies all my life. I love them. But I think I love movie trailers more. For the longest time, I thought these text elements were extremely difficult to do, costing tens of thousands of dollars, and only a select few people could do them. That may be true then, it certainly isn't now. And that's because of people like you who share your knowledge and expertise, further adding to the democratization of skills. I know I've said this before, but you deserve all the success this channel brings you. Thank you.
Awesome, much appreciated Larry. Huge movie trailer fan myself... although I also get super annoyed at the level of spoilers in so many of em! It's a pretty fun space to work in with graphics... and probably explains a lot of the variety (I hope) on the Texturelabs channel. One day, you're in Ancient Egypt and the next 1960's New York City. Sometimes those tens of thousands are in the budget and you can really go nuts and spend a lot of time which is always fun. I'd love to think the channel might give some talented new artists a power-up on their skills!
Great work and a terrific tutorial. Thank you for posting. Love seeing how trailer graphics get made behind the scenes!
In awe - yet again. I love the approach you take - especially focussing on existing plugins, but the nuanced effects you create is just a step above.
This is incredible. Thank you for making this. Love to see high end AE tutorials on YT. Subscribed and looking forward to more!
I'm definitely gonna get into after effects thanks to your videos, don't know what I'd do without them, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
This is absolutely amazing. First time seeing your channel and I'm blown away. This is the perfect counter to Video Copilot's Title making process. Both this and that I feel like cast a very large net on situations they're a good fit for, and this is exactly what I need for the times where VC's method is just a bit too overkill. I love the simplicity and the cheats to get this looking so professional. Subbed and will be digging through all your videos now! Thank you.
This is amazing and all in AE! I love tuts like this that any creator can follow without the need for expensive third party plugins that get in the way half way though! Subscribed!
I love the videos, have been without my adobe package for a little while but got it back yesterday and im rdy to start watching these amazing videos again. This channel is a pure gold, thank you !!!
Another amazing tutorial. I've been using quite a few of your techniques lately. Thank you.
Dude I love how you organically use all the effects within After Effects. By watching your tutorial, not only do I learn how to do something, but I also learn some tips and tricks! thank you!
The things you're sharing are ... insane dude your a true legend! I just wanted to tell you how much i apreciate your aftereffects tutorials. Iv'e learned so much (not so much the effects themselves but more how the Programs work)
I don't comment very often but had to this time, this is a very high quality tutorial! Very insightful, lot's of useful tricks. Love this, thanks!
The concept of using CC Light rays is excellent!
I'm so glad I found your channel, this was soooooo good!
This is so good! As an audio engineer who wants to add value to my work for clients, I'm slowly learning After Effects and tutorials like this are really appreciated.
I always thought these are made in a 3D program and rendered. Once again a great video. Thanks!
Always great tutorials and ideas. Thanks!
thank so much, So interesting. Hope more videos from you. Appreciate your works!
I followed this tutorial and the title came out so epic. Super Big Screen vibes only thing is I'm trying to come up with a project thats cool enough to go with it. This was easy to follow along too. Awesome job and thanks.
STUNNING
This is AMAZING! Thanks for sharing.
thanks for this tut! awesome looking and so easy to do
Man, your videos have been instrumental in leaning PS and AE. Easiest to follow on CZcams. 🙌
You have helped me sooooooo much in helping to build my channel and build out my content. I am beyond floored that you make it so easy to follow, free, and cool. I learn something from each of your videos! Only wish you released more content more often!
This is amazing, thanks for sharing
Christ sir you're going to get me hooked on After Effects too... the photo editing subscription is expensive enough! Seriously though, your career trajectory is an amazing lesson in mastery and giving back.
Very cool, thank you! I hear ya... I've got that same problem with Maya... $225 a month!
🤯 Awesome!! I want more!
Thanks for cool techniques)) Love your channel
Dropped yet another solid gold nugget there Brady.
It's like you're posessed by the spirit of After Effects
and must embody it's functional structure, or surely die!
Amaaazing! Thanks dude ♥
i am so using this for an idea I have for my assessment this semester!
OMG this is super cool
Amazing! Thank you very much for sharing
Gorgeous. And very clever.
Great tut! Made it with love :)
just one word, Incredible !
Thank you, you hyped me to learn more about After effect !
That was a ton of fun to follow along and do this.
I've been working on adobe products since I was a teenager...I thought I knew everything, but you proved to me that there's a lot I don't know.
love you man
Nice! I've been going through those Jake in Motion Effects of AE videos... Crazy how there's always something to learn. Cheers man!
The best channel!
...and just like that we got some Licasfilm magic right there. Super nice tutorial!
Love to way you've elaborated every decision you've made...:)
Nice! Ha, that Lucasfilm logo is in my favorite references folder... it's done just right!
thanks for sharing. its amazing
Great tutorial 🤝
this was legit! thank you!
You are always genius. very good work.
Great tips. Thanks.
Thank you, for sharing..
I was looking for this recently 😮😮
OMG ) Thank you this is awesome 👍
Outstanding, as always. Now to see if I can rebuild something similar using Apple Motion.
Amazing
Genius!
This video alone earned a like, subscribe, and bell icon!
You're a genius!!!
i like your speech and work.🥰
these look so good and all you need is AE, that's awesome. I assumed it was complicated moving 3D lights in Blender or Maya or something. Still hoping for a high quality glass effect sometime soon. Seeing this sort of movie-trailer presentation with glass text would look really nice.
Omg wait you did the shang chi trailer??? That's so dope wthhhh
Specular is the intensity of the highlight, and Roughness is the spread of that highlight. A rough surface would not be smooth, so it would spread the light around - hence spreaded highlights. Specular is the shinyness of a surface - so more specular means the intensity of highlight is stronger
This channel is a treasure trove. I feel spoiled tbh.
Learned a lot from this even if as a 3d artist I won't touch Ae to save my life lol. Thanks for posting!
I did plenty of fancy logos for the casino industry so a lot of this looks familiar, but I never used CC Plastic. That point light control is fantastic - I always used the standard bevel and boss "rotate your light" effect. Now the CC Light Rays is definitely weird, but I used that all the time too. Basically I made a .png that was just tiny speckled dots painted in PS. I'd mask it, and rotate it, comp it, then apply CC Light Rays to the comp. It basically "threw" the pixels out in all directions (fake "rays") like a disco ball. Not unlike a prop light a DJ might use where a disc with holes would rotate in from of a spotlight. This became a stock thing I'd do for that video gamey look for a new item. Duplicate, add colors and glows, etc. Think like when Link collects an item out of a treasure chest i Zelda. Anyway - THANKS! You always have something new to share!
Casino industry sounds like a fun space to work in - I love me some shiny and glowy! Ah ya, I can envision how that would work with Light Rays. I was kinda hoping someone would chime in the comments who has used it in other contexts. Disco and Zelda - amazing references... cheers!
This was great to see. It seems like such a complex result, but you make it look easy. BTW the font for Wizards...what is the name of it?
Great Tutorial, how do I create an alpha and slap it onto some kind of video?
Which macbook do you use for after effects? Are you using the new MacBook m1 max?
When he said the words turbulent displacement I almost thought for a second the Josh Connolly clip from Film Riot will start playing but no, it didn’t. And now I’m sad.
neat
I'd love to know how to do this in Apple Motion 😀
I just love your approch to these effects, I would totally enroll to a photoshop or after effects intermidiate class/course if you had one!
Nice, glad to hear it! The idea of a longer course could be cool... it's something that drifts around in the back of my mind. Will keep ya posted!
Not only Photoshop master but also After Effects, thats impressive. Im wondering how do you come up with these ideas. Like you are playing with software settings or just have straight in your mind what you want to achive at first?
Thank you very much! I'd say I spend well over 50% of my time in the software just noodling around, making mental notes when I think "ah, this could be good for xxxxx"... Then when I get into the mindset to create something, it's a 180. As you said, I'll try to get a concrete idea of what I want to achieve, then break it into distinct parts. Then think back on all of the noodling to figure out each step!
Hi Brady. I purchased your fantastic Cinemagraphix template but I didn't really understand how to use it. I just figured out how to insert my own text and change the material. But if I also want to insert sparkle in the areas of maximum illumination, can I do it? Or what if I want the text to be slowly revealed? Are these also functions that can be controlled with controllers? Excuse my ignorance. I know AE quite well but I'm not very familiar with templates. Thanks for your help.
George.
Wouldn't it be "smarter" to use a precomp instead of multiples of a live text layer?
Could you maybe drop a name of the font at 16:42? :)
🤯
Honestly? This tutorial might be helpful, and I can try to use to make it like Cinematic Trailers, and maybe even for Cinematic Opening Title Screen.
Mas videos bro
0:03 what font its that?.
i do AE now for 20years now but i am not sure if you take it to another level or if you ditch my nose into the fact that i never covered the basic magic of it. I am considering patreonizing you in the hopes to get more AE tutorials ;)
*Did anyone figure out how to organically / gradually vanish this whole "light sweep" effect?* ❓
As soon as you mess with *"PLASTIC > Height"* parameter- it globally takes the shine out of all the letters in the title. Whereas organically- there should be a gradual fading out for each letter separately. Any clues....? 🤔🤔
Very nice. Very juicy. 😎😎
He actually said "fuck 3D"
Summary of tutorial:
a. Use Bevel and Emboss (along with Inner SHadows) to create a 3d ness
b. Use CC Plastic to add a lighted edge - and animate it, use glow to make it better and CC Light rays to create glares
Sugar and Honey
Dude these titles are too dark.
I always thought these are made in a 3D program and rendered. Once again a great video. Thanks!
Right on thank you! The truth is they actually are more often than not made in Cinema 4d or Maya. I'm the guy who's always saying "maybe it's faster just to fake it... look at this!" So this video is also an attempt to champion my own workflow (sinister laugh)
Any Adobe CC user who is not subscribed has no idea what they're missing. This is top notch content every single upload.
