Moriarty’s mistake was capturing Holmes queen. Gosh sake man, He’s Sherlock Holmes, didn’t you think for 1 second that it’s obviously a trap ?? He took the bait, “and incidentally, mate”.
What I find most fascinating isn't the Queen sacrifice, but the fact that Holmes had mate in 1 after Bh3 and didn't deliver it immediately, Instead taking advantage of his opponent's hubris. When the Queen went to b3, he moved his King to h8 instead of f8 because if the Queen had been moved to the eitht rank it would've been Mate for White. Holmes even sacrificed a Rook to leave his King completely defenseless. The Rook trade was a stunning "last opportunity of redemption", because after the pawn moved the checkmate threat was no longer certain. If the Queen decided to help the King out instead of pursuing the Black King, it would've been an easy victory. And while Moriarty was playing selfishly, only thinking of the sudden victory he would encouter in a couple moves, he failed to ask himself if he was in any real danger. After Qb7 he was so close to victory he could already taste it. Bf1#. Moriarty didn't just get outplayed, he got outright demolished. Who's to blame for it? No one but himself. Amazing.
Vera Level na. Such a popular game chess is that it is even played in movies. Interesting selection and a nice and intuitive queen sacrifice. Thanks for choosing this game!
@@elpreciososi1735 i mean the right after Sherlock takes moriarty's bishop with his bishop. Then queen moves, even queen is blocked with bishop, moriarty's rook can checkmate.
Sema... Definite like from chess lovers... Good job...
Its like Holmes's 2 bishops are John & Marry, while his last rook was the detective. Brilliant writing!
This is one of my favorite scenes in cinema and as a chess player of particular joy. Thank you for covering it.
Actually seeing this illustrated like this really shows how close that game was

With the queen Being Irene...
Okay that is fucking genius!!
It was meant to explain moriarty to explain his brilliancy but also that he’s very greedy..
You are kinda fucked if you dont take
i mean you need to be insanely good to see that there is actually something more than a perpetual after that
The game was of five minutes

There wasn't a mate in 1 after Bh3. This was a Petrosian Larsen game from the past. Beautiful game.
the germans.. Wokege
There was no mate in 1 because the rook was moved to f4 to block as soon as the bishop moves for the discovery
Y'all right actually, sorry for having the eysight of a mole.
Sherlock Holmes: "Oh no, my queen!"
In the movie also, Moriarty's fatal blunder was to kill Ms. Adler and expressing it before Holmes openly...
Sherlock Holmes - " if you kill my queen( Adler ) , then king( Moriarty ) will sacrifice later "
Thanks for doing a side by side with minimal commentary. Every other video in the search is 20 minutes with an unneeded explanation.

When Moriarty's queen took the knight pawn
There wasn't any knight pawn to take as they both had got taken earlier in the game
Dude this guy literally explained nothing wtf? He just said english opening and left💀💀💀
good one sir
Thanks .
Good video!
Wouldn't there be a Queen checkmate at 5:16 if the white queen had the time to go b8 next turn ?
Would have been if it wasn’t M1 on the board
Uurraa 🔥
Moriarty shouldn't have moved rook to f4, instead he could have moved queen to b3 check and after king's moving to h8, rock to f8, mate.
but he could have blocked the check with Bishop to e6

Nice game! Also nice to see Moriarty (an Irish name) losing when he plays the English, serves him right, the tryhard turncoat! Lol
4:20 should have been queen check.
Be6 discover check and Bishop takes Queen. Material Advantage for Black
I did like you in the video. Thank you so much goodbye.
How can one find the energy released from an explosion, using equations of motion ? 😂
u must be fun at parties

instead of morty taking knight pawn with queen could have queen to F7, CHECKMATE, MORIARTY WINS o0
wouldnt have worked , moriarty lost the game due to tempo, he couldnt checkmate holmes with just his queen without needing another turn.
@@teddymarshall5956 yeah your right, holmes bishop to bishop 8 was inevitable.
Insane.... high iq
Nice views
4:28 is a mate in 2
No. Please check it again
e6
And white would lose
After playing queen b3 check white plays bishop e6 discover check and you just lost your queen
@@Chess_Artist try Bishop F1
@@livinindubai Bf1 don't work because of Rh4(blocking check) Rxh4+ gxh4 Rhx4+ kg3 and white survive with a queen for 2 bishops
