    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem

      Yes, you can manually control the framing using their software. I've used it in static mode, zoomed in to my panned and tilted location for a few of the other videos I've published. It's a nice webcam and automated motion is less aggressive than the Insta360 Link's (even on the Link's slowest setting), so to me it feels more "human" - having worked with camera and jib operators in the past.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem +1

      I only have one to test, but it should work as long as you have enough USB bandwidth. If your machine has a few 3.2 Gen 2 ports you should be fine. I have heard of webcams (apparently Anker C300) that only recognize 2 at a time. I have a feeling this has to do with how the hardware vendor defines the device IDs. I have 3 identical Elgato Cam Link 4k devices and use OBS and it works. They all have the same name in OBS, so using the camrename utility helps your own sanity when configuring OBS, especially if you use other apps like Teams or Zoom with the same camera.

    Despite the mic being garbage on it, I'm really impressed with the image quality of the Mokose. I already have an XLR mic running into an audio interface, so I only really need a camera. I think the Mokose is more than sufficient since I only really do Zoom calls.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem +2

      It's my favorite budget 4k camera. As long as you're OK figuring out how to mount it and using OBS and Windows UVC camera controls, it's really good. There's also an HDMI version with internal camera controls and remote that gives even more settings and if your pair that with a capture card (even a cheap one), then you don't need to worry about Windows UVC settings resetting each reboot.

    Any software privacy concerns when it comes to the Insta360? I’ve been reading some mixed reviews. Does it work well without software? Any chance you’d compare it against the Opal C1?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem

      Early on, Insta360 had very aggressive telemetry feeding back, but that's since been addressed and very little traffic is being sent now. There is a Reddit thread about this and the author was looking at traffic and packets sent (so it was more science than fear-based opinion). I used to work and build software in China, so I would have done the same thing, except maybe send logs to Azure or AWS first, then redirect to later. I haven't tried it as a normal UVC camera without software. I don't have the Opal C1. I love the design, but based on specs alone I can't justify the price. I did know someone with it (who is an extreme fan of Apple hardware who spared no expense with >$22k daily driver hardware setup).

    Question...
    1. Do you have to plug USB C directly into Laptop or can use a hub like Kensington I use for my Windows 11 Surface Laptop Studio? Is there image quality loss if I use 6 or 8ft USB C Cable? I use a 65 Inch Samsung TV as monitor for work. I want to put the Insta360 on top of TV instead of Laptop. Otherwise it makes my picture look like I am staring into the sky (with Camera mounted on Laptop screen).
    Thanks.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem

      It depends on your USB-C bandwidth. 3.0 to 3.2 Gen 2 ranges between 5 to 10 gbps. Thunderbolt 4 is 40 gbps. I've saturated my USB ports often with too many Cam Link devices using 3.2 Gen 2 ports with a few 1080p 60fps cameras. 4k 30fps by itself can saturate a port. Laptop Studio native ports are Thunderbolt 4, but if you use a Dock 2, they are 3.2 Gen 2. Other docks will vary. If you're using a 4k 60hz monitor and 4k 30Hz camera from Thunderbolt 4, theoretically you should be fine. If you get a hub and have concerns, make sure it is Thunderbolt 4 speed rated. Since many are not.

    The best image was hands-down the Osmo pocket, but in webcam world, the Insta360 Link is champ. The Mokose image quality is the best bang-for-your-buck. The Obsbot is still pretty good overall, and the Brio is a turd with a USB cable. :)

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před rokem

      True on all fronts. I also liked the audio from the OBSBOT the most; I think if I trimmed the gain from 70% to 60% in hindsight, it would have been even better - it's tuned for more of a deeper, studio tone. The rest are kind of thin - except the MOKOSE, which is an audio disaster.

    Great video! However, one of the biggest issues that I will stay away from the Insta360 (and no one on CZcams has ever mentioned) is the privacy concern: the camera pings Chinese Domain 1K Per Day. Also their software has shady privacy agreement that I don't think we should take the risk. This is confirmed by our IT with the same finding from one of their Amazon reviews: "my corporate IT security team which made me immediately cease and desist the use of the Instalink360 webcam because the software sends information to a Chinese owned Domain Name Service (DNS). My network security team flagged the device because it was flooding my companies firewall logs with over 1,000 DNS calls with in a 24 hour period."

Plugged it in my laptop but got no image, not even on obs. Installed the obsbot center but their software did not detect it? Kept saying connect your tall air with Bluetooth but even Bluetooth did not find it. Downloaded latest tiny 4k firmware only to get a message when opening that the file is damaged or unreadable. So almost 300$ for a camera that cannot even connect to a windows laptop?

      I agree with you! The hard part though if I record simultaneously though is that I max out the USB bandwidth, and on a timeline if you stack multiple clips at 4k, it's nearly impossible to edit on my laptop. So you need to convert and prerender everything at say 720p, then stack them on the timeline and grid them out. I try to do that in other reviews, but you'll notice those are 1080p 30 native captures typically that don't choke my timeline. Then there is the whole matching of framing, because if I digitally zoom in, people assume that the zoomed device doesn't focus or image isn't sharp, people get pretty heated on image sharpness and clarity, almost to the point where nothing else matters. 🙂
