  • I have waited a few weeks to speak publicly about this incident. I did not want my family or my business wrapped up in the situation, but it seems like the wordis out. Here is the story from my perspective. If you have any information about the Disappearance of Elizabeth (Beth) Capaldi, please contact Perkasie Police at (215) 257-6876
    UPDATE: According to the National database for missing persons, the husband has indicated that $13k in cash went missing with her. This means that there two likely scenarios here. #1 she left on her own accord and doesn't want to be found, or #2 the husband is lying and he is responsible. namus.nij.ojp....
    Update: I am hearing that the husband was just taken into custody in the early morning hours of 12/9/22

    UPDATE: Thursday, December 8th. Elizabeth Capaldi's husband was taken into custody by police. Mr. Capaldi led them to remains of a body in a wooded area near the Philadelphia international airport. As of today, the body has not been positively ID'd yet and the husband has not been charged. That could change later today or tomorrow.

    I am a friend of Steve's neighbor and had interactions with them over the years , and heard a really nasty argument they had in their front yard about a year ago. In the months she was missing, me and my friend were at his house many times and one day we were cleaning and taking things to the basement. While down there, I could hear music blasting super loud in Steve's basement next door. I felt weirded out knowing his wife was missing and wondering who rocks out like that in that circumstance, and could feel the weird vibes. I had nightmares for weeks after reading the grand jury report and learning what he had done in the basement, and almost passed out the day the details broke and had a panic attack and had to leave work. Thankfully we were able to figure out we were not at his house Monday Oct 10th the day the murder occurred, but it's definitely traumatizing nonetheless when you know the person.

    Hang on for a second, maybe the dog was correct. The zip zagging that the dog picked up on close to your house could have been her if she was running for help or trying to get away from someone. If you have a security camera that would show that section of your property or the neighbor's property or wherever that zig zag line was, or up on your porch, where the dog also indicated the trail went, then the footage will be stored in 'the cloud' by your carrier, Nest, Ring, etc....Contact the police, and show them your post. I know that the husband was taken into custody, but the dog was picking up her scent. Trained dogs are not likely to signal the smell of another dog or the wrong person. It could help in finding out what happened to her. Yes-I know that remains were found outside of Phila and they have not yet been identified. Even if the remains are her, it doesn't answer what happened where security footage will. Don't underestimate the trained dog.

    • @mericanhoney
      @mericanhoney  Před rokem +1

      I have zero confidence that the dog was following her scent. My house is far enough away that I do not see the scenario you put forward as plausible. I will exercise a healthy dose of skepticism moving forward in regards to search dogs. I went through my security footage when the police were at my house. Because it was so far after the fact, (over two full weeks) the footage that records in a loop did not extend back far enough. At the time it went back to Oct 18th. I believe they were looking at Oct 9th and 10th.

    • @mericanhoney
      @mericanhoney  Před rokem

      Also, if he led the police to the body, who else would it be?

    • @bethswartz6989
      @bethswartz6989 Před rokem

      @@mericanhoney The footage stored on your actual security unit is one thing, Mine goes back 7 days, but if I give the company the exact date range I'm looking for, they can provide additional footage. A frightened person, running from an attacker doesn't want to be seen by the attacker and could have followed the path you outlined, all unbeknownst to you. And yes-dog have found humans buried under concrete months after they've disappeared. All of this will play out, eventually. And maybe your security doesn't have a camera on that side of your house....so it's all a moot point.

    • @mericanhoney
      @mericanhoney  Před rokem

      @@bethswartz6989 My camera system is different than yours, what you are describing is not possible. A decomposing body under concrete is different than a two + week old scent after days of HEAVY rain. The blood hound just got the "hots" for my dog. It's painfully obvious. The scenario of Beth fleeing from her husband, running up my neighbors driveway and then in circles in the grass is silly. I would have been happy to help her, but the truth is, there are about a hundred closer doors than mine that she could have knocked on for help. Why are you pushing this so hard?

    • @bethswartz6989
      @bethswartz6989 Před rokem

      @@mericanhoney I'm not pushing anything. I'm just looking at alternatives. Guess we will find out the details whenever whoever did this to Beth comes forward and confesses exactly what happened. Stephen and/or whoever helped him. Too bad there aren't more people in your neighborhood with security cameras. It's actually very plausible if she thought she was running away from someone or from two people-if she was being chased and someone caught up with her, yes-they could have run in circles. It's just sad no matter how your look at it. I hope that the family and the whole community can soon get closure on this

    Think it’s weird you seem so excited and happy while talking about a missing woman who is your neighbor. The dog and the handler did nothing wrong, the dog was doing its job. Also the dog would not get the scent confused unless your dog came in contact with Beth. Those are highly trained dogs and unlikely they would show up on your door step as a mistake. How about instead of making videos to make people somehow feel bad for you, go out and help your community find your neighbor. Show a little sympathy to Beth and her family. Your video comes off very Apathetic…..

      I would kindly ask that you put yourself in my shoes. This was easily one of the most unnerving, awkward experiences of my life. This happened at my studio while I was with a client. I have a thriving small business serving mostly young kids and their families. If I was to become a person of interest in Mrs Capaldi's disappearance all of this goes away in a blink of an eye. I have a lot at stake here as does my family.
      My mindset in making this video was mainly "how do I not come across as a kidnapper." I guess I felt that smiling and bringing humor would help accomplish this.
      I hadn't spoken publicly about this for two weeks because I was not interested in having my family or business connected with this mess. I am only doing so now because people from the neighborhood were approaching me to ask about it. I felt that it was best for folks to know what actually happened instead of letting the rumor mill work its magic on the internet.

      @@shakirarohena26 Hi there. Thanks for watching. A quick Google search will tell you that the job of a cadaver dog is much different than that of a bloodhound. A blood hound is used to track a live person or animal's movements. A cadaver dog's task is not to differentiate between scents but only to smell death. This is why other breeds are often used for this purpose. The dog that showed up at my door was absolutely not a cadaver dog.

      I really dont care if it is a bloodhound or a cadaver Dog, the thing is, you making a video on a missing person and look like you are smiling through the video it doesn't sit right to me at all. Everyone has their own opinions, and I do respect that.

      I will certainly be more skeptical of tracking dogs moving forward. I'm sure that they sometimes do good work. At the same time, it's important that everyone (including the police and the dog handlers) know the limitations of the dogs. In this instance it's clear that the dog was asked to do something beyond those limits. What did Spiderman say? "With great power comes great responsibility." There needs to be training on the damage associated with the dog signaling a false positive. For example, there's a man that lives a few doors down the street. He has some sort of mental disability and often walks the sidewalks. I have heard people make remarks like "that guy looks like a sex predator." What if the dog erroneously hit on that poor man's door? I have the privilege of the community's support because they know me. I also have this platform that I can use to defend my name. If it was the other gentlemen instead, who would be an advocate for him? It certainly wouldn't be the social media groups that have popped up to organize searches and vigils for Beth. There are some people in those groups who wanted my head just because I smiled while making this video.

      It wasn't even an officer though. That's the crazy thing. They were working with the police. It makes you wonder what kind of effect that would have on a court case were they to enter before telling the home owner that it was a law enforcement search. I feel like that would make any evidence collected in-admissible in court.
