  • This was a triple threat. I loved seeing Roy Khan perform with Kamelot in "Elizabeth I, II & III," and now it's time to hear Tommy roar. This performance was from the legendary 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands with Alissa and Elize, and was not what I expected. Now I have three more amazing vocalists to put on my list!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Tommy Karevik in Kamelot, Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd for the first time, performing "Sacrimony” live.

No worries it was an honest mistake and has nothing really to do with the musical analysis for the song. As for Allisa, in her current band Arch Enemy she does harsh vocals 99.9% of the time. I would strongly recommend her previous band The Agonist. "Thank you pain", "and their eulogies sang me to sleep" and "ideomotor" are great songs with about 40/60 clean/harsh vocals from her. Personally I really like her cleans and think it's a shame she doesn't use them in Arch Enemy.

I just realized something. Alyssa and Elise have an amazing bit of history with Nightwish and Floor. When Annette Olsen went to the hospital during the 2012 US Nightwish tour, the band was left with no singer for their Denver show. Alyssa and Elise were signing backup for Kamelot who were the opening act. For one night, they were the lead singer for Nightwish, which the crowd loved, even if they had to read cue cards to know the lyrics. Annette sang at the next show in Salt Lake, and then was replaced with Floor, who had 48 hours to learn the songs.

Hi Elizabeth, I loved this performance. I never thought anyone could replace Roy, but Tommy was truly incredible and gave Kamelot an amazing sound. I also loved Elize w/ her clean vocals and Alissa w/ her growls. When all (3) were side by side singing the last chorus, that really put the icing on the cake. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙

I'm afraid you got it a bit wrong there: Anette Olzon has never been in Kamelot, she was in Nightwish before Floor. When NW were touring the US, they were supported by Kamelot (along with Elize and Alissa), so when Anette got sick in Denver and couldn't perform Elize and Alissa stepped in. Nightwish' documentary covers it, just search youtube for The Denver Debacle 😊 Anette was fired from NW right after that.

I was lucky enough to see Kamelot opening for Nightwish on the tour when Annette (the Nightwish singer) was let go and they brought in Floor Jansen (there's a great documentary out there about this). It was the fourth concert with Floor - and only the fifth day since she replaced Annette - and she did great. Kamelot was also wonderful. While they had Tommy at that point (alas, I missed ever seeing Roy), they hadn't yet released the album that this song is from. Not too long later, Kamelot was headlining their own show, with Eklipse and Delain opening. They heavily featured the songs from Silverthorn, and it was glorious. One of my favorite overall albums from Kamelot. Alissa and Elize as always were amazing at the earlier show. The two of them - one dressed in all white, one in all black - doing vocals on March of Mephisto was particularly cool live. The later show featured the ladies of Eklipse - featured on Kamelot's album - joining them on stage for the appropriate songs, and they were great too.
Silverthorn has a great story, and some of the songs (as usual for Kamelot) have some very deep and complex lyrics. If you haven't listened to the album as a whole by now, I highly recommend doing so. Their best overall work since the two-parter Epica (the album the band named themselves after) and The Black Halo.

Or very different Nightwish with the song "Slow, love, slow" (can't imagine that one sung by anyone but Anette).

Great reaction! What I find super impressive about Tommy is that he's self-taught as a singer. I've seen him twice, once with Kamelot and once with Seventh Wonder, and he's absolutely fantastic live.

One of your vids popped on my CZcams feed and I just had to see all of your reactions and analysis to Kamelot, Epica and Nightwish reactions and I gotta say I loooooveeeeeeeeeee how you really try to know all the members from the bands or collabs. It's a "little" detail not everybody does and it shows so much respect for all the musicians involved.
    A big hug from Spain!!
    P.S: 15:12 you're so right!!!

Great reaction! Talking about Tommy always seems to put a "girl in love"-smile on your face, Elizabeth 😂

It's really amazing and just a stunning track. Simpler and more harmonized than Sancta Terra.
Also worth checking out for clean duets by metal vocalists is Vivo por Lei by Chiara Tricarico and Lauren Macri both in Italian symphonic metal bands.
My favourite Vivo por Lei is Henk and Emma on Beste Zangers still tho.

I really like that you notice every detail and that you have a positive attitude towards rock music. I enjoy the criticism. He chooses really good music. I like this channel

Finally some Kamelot!!! Kahn is one of the best and most underrated theatrical and dynamic singers. He has the voice of a Disney movie if it was dark and metal. New singer is good, But Kahn is so untouchable with his delicate tone.

If you want to hear more of Alissa (clean vocals and growling) I recommend Archenemy-Reason to believe. You should also check out Kamelot ft Alissa White Gluz-Liar Liar
