This song is about the great opera singer Enrico Caruso, who, at the age of 48 learned he was dying. He had a wife twenty years younger than he, and a baby girl. In this song he is telling his wife that he is dying. Try Una Furtiva LaCrima next!
And Lucio Dalla wrote the song inspired by staying in the same hotel room were Caruso was a few days before his death.
Legend says that Caruso was greatest. But his few records are old with bad sound.Maybe he was greatest, but for me,Pavarotti is best singer,I've ever heard.
The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life.
curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo) boy.
With that section u played again it sounded almost as though he was crying with his vocal chords !! Amazing !!
You explained it wonderfully...R.I.P...LP.
Song written by contemporary singer Lucio Dalla in 1986 in honor of Italian tenor Enrico Caruso,(Feb 25, 1873- Aug 2,1921)
You were smart, choosing a video with subtitles. I believe many people miss out on great songs, and much of opera and lyrical music, because they don't understand them, as they are in other languages.
Glad you found this.
I love pavarotti. Everything you said to describe his voice, I 100% agree. Ty for sharing
Hey Man, great honest reaction! I have seen so many people overreact and you know it is fake because they over-react to parts where it wasn´t called for or justified. But honest reactions is what I like.
Luciano pavaGOATti. Simply the best
After Pavarotti, all singers sound mediocre, including other opera male singers.
@@josiplilic3384 im totally agree
This song is from an Italian Pop Star ''Lucio Dalla''and talks about and dedicated to one of the best Italian an world's tenor called Enrico Caruso ! Pavarotti's covering in his way...
If you want to expand upon the field of operatic masters I highly suggest "Jussi Björling sings Nessun Dorma (Digitally Remastered)", my personal favorite version of that song. When Pavarotti himself was compared to Jussi he replied "Please, I'm only human", which in itself shows Pavarottis humbleness...
Jussi had such a clean, crystal clear and angelic voice, truly one of the greats...
Pavarotti was complementary of almost every musician on the planet, the only thing your comment shows is that Pavarotti despite his immense fame remained humble and down to earth, the same cannot be said of artists like Bjorling who in my opinion didn't have half the technique or power of Pavarotti. Bjorling was not a strong tenor and he was a complete jerk to boot as was Mario Lanza
If I could subscribe again I would. Thank you for that. Pure magic.
You should really do a reaction to La donna é mobilé performance he did in Russia. It was much earlier during his youth.
I just read the most lovely explanation of this song. The man singing to the girl is Caruso, and the girl is his wife. Caruso was 48, he was twenty years older than his wife, and he knew he was dying. This song was written about him by a friend (sorry, I don't remember his name) who imagined how Caruso would say goodbye with his wife and daughter.
He sings about another opera singer Enrico Caruso who died in 1921. He is a master of his own class. You can't compare opera singers, really. Every one of them has a composition which suits them the best. I'd say the one Enrico sings best would be Una Furtiva Lagrima. You can listen to it if you want. You might like Enrico Caruso 🙂
@@zlatkofelic8820 Thanks for the additional info. The song writer is Lucia Dalla.
Hello guys, cheers from Italy and thanks for sharing this amazing music. Lucio Dalla was a wonderful italian singer, who died in 2012. He wrote the song Caruso one night while staying in the hotel room where Enrico Caruso spent his last days, in Sorrento, nearby Napoli. He tried to imagine Caruso's last days and his goodbye to life and his young beloved wife. 👍
It is like.." I love you, please hear me, I do love you. Excuse my mistakes...i love you so much"
You need to listen to him sing E lucevan le stelle from the opera Tosca. Simply beautiful
GRANDE LUCIANO UNICO AL MONDO 🇮🇹👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇮🇹
Wonderful critique!
I'm really sorry for my poor english
You move in Opera. You move a lot. Opera singer is a theatrical singer. The "arie" are the only one that you can sing alone with the orchestra.
But you can check the same aria performed in a opera house. I absolutly love the Queen of the Night by Diana Damrau.
"Caruso" is not an opera song. It is a... Ok, pop-song is maybe the wrong term, but is a song written by Lucio Dalla in 1986 and it is about the opera singer Enrico Caruso, and già last days in Sorrento.
The great opera singers sing " Caruso " which is dedicated to: Enrico Caruso who was the Greatest of all time! & most powerful! Pavarotti once said that his voice was bigger than mine!
Pls do reaction “The 3 tenors sings New York, New York, 1996” It will definitely lift up ANYONE’s spirit :)))
Bravooooo
Beautiful reaction and analysis! Please listen to Vesti la giubba of Pavarotti. You will be speechless.
You got it......he was the real deal !
Try out Pollunin dancing to Take me to church! Magical!
Try to dig out " Paliacci " by Caruso
Este tema es tan dulce a su manera, me encanta, yo me enamoré de la música clásica y la ópera gracias a Bugs Bunny 😅
Είσαι ο ποιό υπέροχος μαύρος γιουτιούμπερ!!
Please react to “Pagliacci” 🇧🇷🔥
made in italy
React to Lara Fabian’s version of this. I prefer it to Pavarotti’s and that is saying something.
@Marie Whitbread you seem nice.
Josh Groban did a respectable version of it, as well.
