I like your rendition of a Pallet; very realistic. (The bottom in particular.) The sides and middle supports should be twice as thick as this to support heavier loads, like the irl example. Assembling freehand would allow for less-than-squareness which is perfect for the model world. Leave a few slats off, or damage them and it'll be perfectly accurate and faithful too. Slow setting CA glue would be great if one is concerned about hot melt glue burns. Great weathering too.
