FYI: Baby birds do not do well on smooth surfaces like that plate you have the bird on. Also, as you can see, baby birds do not have many feathers yet, and what they do have is not fully grown. Without its feathers, it is the same as being naked and they cannot regulate their own body temperature yet. This is why the mother bird literally sits on the baby birds in the nest (yes, they can still breathe). Most birds require a very warm setting (but not hot) in order for their metabolism to function properly and not actually die of hypothermia. Human homes are usually air conditioned, which is far too cold for baby birds. They will not eat. Yes, they can feel the draft coming from the vents! My advice is to put that bird on a clean sock, and then place that on top of a small towel inside a shoe box with a lid. Store the baby bird (inside the shoe box) in a closet so that it is quiet, not stressed, and certainly not in an air conditioned room. A bird of this size may need you to crush up the meal worms in a sandwich bag, and then mix some of that in a small container with a little bit of water. It is much easier for it to swallow and later digest. FYI: I live in San Antonio, Texas (USA) and every year we have barn swallows on our porch. I have learned very much over the years!

私のところにもツバメが来るのですが、以前通学路だったことが災いして、小学生によって落とされたことがありました。五羽中二羽が亡くなってしまいました。しかし、子どもたちもこうなることは予想しなかったようですし、かなり反省していたので、先生方に任せました。生き残ったヒナたちのためにご近所の人と協力してダンボールで巣を作ったことを思い出します。そして無事に巣立っていきました。
日本人ほど ツバメに愛着を持った民族は居ないでしょうね。
