  • My Legendary Kawasaki KLR was my first adventure motorcycle, my first foray into the dual sport world. I love it. I'll miss it. I'll never forget the amazing adventures I had on it... but I'm happy to give it to an amazing guy who is just starting his own adventures!

Reminds me of my old hunk of junk 99 ttr 225. The day I got it was the best day of my life. This vid sends me back to what I've done on it and where I've been. It was a tank at 300lbs for a little 13yr old 130lb kid. Had it for 15 yrs and never thought I'd ever get rid of it... Til my little 2nd cousin wanted to get into riding. I thought she'd get more use and what's wrong with bringing another person into the glory of riding? Won't lie, I teared up a little as her father and me put it onto his truck and made sure to tell her how special it was. Now I get video upon video of her having a blast and it puts a smile on my face. She loves the old beauty and I never second guessed where she belonged.

I could listen to you talk about the KLR 650's for hours, because each and every video, you sound like you are saying the most profound things that I want, ... no ... Need to hear, and I am hung on every word.

It's served you well and still has many more smiles, tears, crashes and triumphs in it's life. I'm glad to see it going to a good home. I don't think I could ever part with either one of them … there's just too many good times , and memories made on them . There's been quite a few bikes in between , but those two are special to me . Most come , and go , but I think those two are here to stay forever , and perhaps be passed down in my family when I die . You're a good man for doing this … I don't think I ever could . = )

Big follower of your channel. Traded an old boat for my old '93 KilLeR, and I've never been happier. It was my first real bike. It's taken me thousands of miles from home, given me plenty of helmet time, and the only minor mishaps have been my doing (except for shooting the spark plug out). Much love for the KLR. Tyler,
Thank you soo much for all the great videos you posted up while riding, workin on and falling off this beast. Your work was the primary reason I decided to get back into riding after more than 20 years away from a bike. I re entered the riding scene with a beat up 96 DR 350 which I wrenched on and rode then passed on to my son to be his first bike. I've since moved up to a Beta 300 and have fallen deeper in love with riding. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Damon last summer and express my thanks to him as well. Hopefully one day soon I can get down to St.george and meet you too.
It's a great thing your doing, passing this bike to such a deserving individual. Good on ya brother. Your an awesome individual and I will always be greatful to what you Damon, Rojo and a few others have brought into my life.
Best wishes to you and your family for the new year.

This video was kind of sad it reminded me of why do I hold on to the bikes in my garage? Some I haven't ridden in 3 years even though I still love them. I bought them in my 40's because when I was tied down with young kids I couldn't afford my dream sport bikes or enduro. I always had 1 or 2 but wanted more being held back by finances. Now in my 50's I see a lot of era's come to an end such as WARREN MILLER the ski film maker. I been watching this channel enjoying listening to Everide evolve his skills and experiences. It's been nice listening to someone with passion on a budget. Hopefully even though Everide Good bye to the KLR era ends it will open the door to new bikes and trails. Warren Miller lived to 93 years old. I hope I make it that long to ride more in nice weather and watch Everide videos in the winter

Great homage and video to a do-it-all machine. The line is correct, does nothing well but does everything. I have endured mine for many miles, and in places it's not particularly suited. But I can only own one machine and while in Alaska...this was it. Years and two moves following highlighted the "weaknesses" but having no resources to get a more appropriate machine I held on to the old girl. For the most part with no regrets. The future will dictate any changes to the garage (once I get a garage) and I'm sure I'll miss her. But the memories will last forever.

You really have a way of expressing the joy of Dual Sport! My favorite bike I ever had was my DR350 yes it's over weight and not a super bike but we went places just for the fun. It never failed me and was always up to the adventure at hand. But I came home from my Brothers last Saturday and someone had decided they wanted it more than I did so they took it. While I had it I always dreamed of having something bigger and better because it could take me farther. But now that it is gone I would trade a brand new bigger and better bike for it. Dual sport bikes work their way into your life and become an extension of you. When they go you just have to say good bye old friend.

Dude I've watched this video a few times since it's been posted, and it is one of the reason I keep my KLR650. I have had so many moments where I just hated that bike. Why did I even get it? There are so many other bikes. Then I remember how cheap it was fully built ready for adventure and was my reason why I bought it. I didn't need to do anything, just ride. It's been one of the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and currently the only one I can trust to turn key and go anywhere without doubt! I will evebtually upgrade when money permits, but until then, the fat ol pig seems to do the job just fine! Super amazing video man!

What a great eulogy for the KLR!
With Kawasaki phasing the bike out after the 2018 models, the world is losing one of its most lovable motorcycles.

Hmm...Memories. I first saw the KLR, when a friend of a friend , wanted to do a temporary Couch Surfing, using our place to spend a few days exploring the South Island (Vancouver Island). I spent a few days gawking at this incredible machine (It looked pure military and utilitarian in a "go anywhere" and "don't mess with me" kind of way ) in my driveway before heading to work, I was pretty much 100% street for decades (except for my 4x4). Fast forward a few years when I was looking to replace my FJ1200, nosing through the local online used ads... an 2003 KLR locally, one owner! Quickly grabbed it, as they don't seem to be for sale for long. Yeah I really enjoyed that bike, easy to work on, a robust and friendly online community, tons of farkle (Dual Star), Took me a lot of places on and off road, and once I changed, what in my opinion was the worst Motorcycle seat I have ever sat on to a sleek corbin one I was ready to ride everywhere. Now that I have watched this video makes me a little melancholy for days on the "Thumper"... now on a DRZ now but wish I had both... :-)

You motivated me to Go out and get out there and enjoy it. My sincere thanks to you and your Frankentracter. Without you 2 I'd still be sitting on the couch instead of out on the dirt.

KLRs never sold in Brazil. Still I have always loved it. Its simplicity is evident, just as it is clearly rugged, strong, reliable, durable... Unstoppable..lol. similar bikes made those characteristics clear. Then came many reports from owners in Europe and in the US. Later they started travelling around the world with no serious problems on the motorcycle. I've never been close to a KLR but I can be 99% certain of how great a bike it is. And your KLR is one I love a lot. For what it represents to the channel, for the stories you told us with it. It's almost a spirit of all we care for in adventure motorcycling. I thank that KLR for what it started in your heart and I thank you for translating so well that dual sport as a life style.

that is soo cool!!!. I get it, I too once had a KLR and for 11 years it was my #1, the fast one, the commuter, the 2 up and te dirthy one. Then I too found somebody that could benefit even more from it than I, so cheap and all farkle up she went to him, my friend and mechanic that has gotten to used it more than I could have.
Very well my friend, and keep gettin better! From Baja a big huge and the best for this new 2018!!!

Same way I feel about my 1994 Yamaha XT225. I bought it in 1998, and have replaced pretty much every part on it, some several times. Tons of modifications. Over 30,000 off road miles. I never washed it, but I did do plenty of maintenance on it. I've been pounding on it for 20 years now, and it still runs great. I'm not getting rid of it. I bought a 2001 parts bike with a titled frame and 3,000 mile engine, good wheels, and a lot of other good parts. When the engine finally goes, I'll probably take parts from both bikes and rebuild it on the '01 frame.

Your KLR videos paved the way for some great memories for me. Im greatful and I'll miss your KLR even though I've never even seen it lol.

Woah! I can't believe you're letting that bike go. And I hope this doesn't mean your videos of adventuring riding are coming to and end as well. I LOVE this channel and thoroughly enjoyed your stories. In fact, you're one of the primary reasons I bought my adventure motorcycle. Because of my size, I opted for a BMW R1150GS Adventure, but I NEVER lost my love of the KLR650 -- and, in fact, I intend to buy one eventually!! So, please tell us that you're not giving up this channel and videos.

That being said it has me feeling rather emotional too see you letting it go. Maybe on my way a crossed we could meet up. I'd love to shake your hand and chat bikes for a bit.
