This is why the show should focus much more on mental health. Stable people do not get to this point. She just went from one addiction to another. Mental and physical health come hand in hand, neither one is negligible.

@@tabbyreed8925 I strongly disagree. As someone who was morbidly obese and has begun the long journey of losing weight, I can tell you that being held accountable (which is what Dr. Now does) is so, SO important to long-term success. He isn't warm and fuzzy, but he isn't treating them like crap. He gives them the resources they need to be successful: Referrals to therapists, dieticians, physical therapists, everything. He performs these high risk surgeries for these people to help them gain their lives back.
Imagine how it must feel to be in his shoes, where he provides these tools and his time, only to hear that people aren't following up on their care plans and aren't taking their own lives seriously. So true that mental health is the root of obesity 90% of the time, but Dr. Now isn't a psychiatrist or a therapist. He's their surgeon, and providing psychiatric care is outside of his scope of practice. That's why he gives referrals to people who can help them in that regard.

Of course, (if he grew up to be a dick), he could resent his mother for having put him through those things, and that would be totally his choice. Maybe I can help explain. I was abused in multiple ways and ate for comfort. I reached 380 lbs before turning my life around. Even though I was over-eating calories, I was starved for vitamins and nutrients. It takes a lot of calories to feed a body that size, and healthy calories are more expensive than sugar and flour based calories. After a lifetime of eating high carb and low vegetables, my brain was sluggish. I needed to supplement lots of different vitamins before my thoughts became faster and clearer. I wouldn't wish that self-imposed prison on my worst enemy. It's very difficult to get out of it when you can't think clearly enough to understand why you're there in the first place. To someone who has never experienced obesity, I'm sure it seems like it should be easy to understand, but nothing is easy when your brain is starving for vitamins.

Oftentimes people are so combative they don't want to do what they want to do but she's flat-out putting her fears out there saying what if I can't live without the food. Even though you have the bypass surgery, you must remember your born with a little teeny tiny belly you stretch it out over time by eating especially overeating. To get yourself to a place of six or 700 lb you're really stretching. The fact that this kid is conscious of this and has gone to a therapist speaks volumes to how much she wants to get better. I pray for her. I hope she does well. I had bypass surgery in 2005 it wasn't super successful for me I lost about 60 lb and I ended up going to weight watchers and losing in total 137 lb. But I struggle I've been real sick I've been very depressed the past two years and I've probably put on about 30 lb. I am super aware of it, and I'm just beginning to take control of it again. I understand all of it the pain medication, a lot of us turned to alcohol. We self-medicate and when you take food out of the equation you look for something else to fill that void and believe me it's very difficult. I really do I wish this kid well ❤️

They are bad nowadays, and some shouldn’t ever practice, be lazy, or order unnecessary stuff. They will give people who aren’t in pain pain meds, and people who need it are not thinking they will abuse it. I wrote a good, long message, but it said it wasn't a valid argument. I ain't arguing; I am expressing healthcare and what happened in my experience, and Ashley is one of my favorites who actually is trying, unlike Steven, who was an addict and treated people badly. Btw., the cause of the ulcers was NSAIDs like Aspirin or Ibuprofen; not opioids. It's a known and common complication. Usually, people develop severe gastritis, which they definitely notice, before any ulceration sets in though.

At around 2min, 30 sec this patient talks about having been in the hospital for 6 weeks recovering from ulcer surgery. She explains Dr. Nazardin has told her she needs to start seeing a therapist as soon as she can when she's discharged. My question is this: Why the hell shouldn't she have started psychotherapy while in the hospital? Like a week after the surgery? At six weeks she claims it hurts too much to walk. So clearly she isn't doing anything else but lying in bed -- why not do some work with a therapist?

Chronic pain ones you don't, especially when I get a guy, I have no faith in them. I hate asking because I feel like an addict, but when you have these episodes, it's painful as heck. She will actually try to get better, go to therapy, and try to get better. People really need to stop judging people without knowing them, and I tell them a lot they like. Wow, you remembered a lot, um, because it's my health, and you need to do a better job at figuring it out instead of ordering tests that are unnecessary and possibly can kill the Don't care if you're having a bad day; don't treat Mel old, a number of stereotypes of being lazy say you do if then don't or say you don't do it unless I have a bone pain, an infection, or a infection or broken bone that make no sense because they are in surgery all drugged up. The firefighters are lazy here and unsympathetic; the nurses are okay; the doctors are bad. You get about 2 of 10 good guys, doctors, and women. You get shouts. 8 out of 10 times, they always order what I want. I had to tell a doctor that it was unnecessary if I came here if you didn't order what I came here for my health, then he did order if a random order is usually inaccurate compared to a 24-hour one. If I were an addict, why would I ask to be admitted? I would take my medications as scheduled on time and not ask for extra. They told me I was easy; they enjoyed having me, and I made their jobs easier. It's annoying to be in pain and get nothing of ibuprofen when you can take it at home. Why would I wait eight hours in the ER for ibuprofen, even morphine? At best, they act like they're giving you fentanyl. Doctors used to not care about giving meds, even though pharmacies ran out of the medication because of the supply and demand thing with Brandon in the office. Yes, she copes with drugs and food as an escape from a traumatic injury, which we can’t mock because people have no idea what she went through during her physical abuse to save her sister from getting hurt. Ashley is an amazing person. Her legs and feet look normal compared to Steven's, which look like actual elephant legs. It's crazy how some people that weigh that much can't work, then some can, and Charlie, aka Brendan, in The Whale was 600 pounds portrayed in the film, which was one of my favorite films I saw, and he couldn't walk; he was literally bedbound and couch bound. I get why his daughter neglected him; he left the family when she was 8 years old, so she remembered that, and a daughter will never forget when their dad walks out, especially at that age when they need you. That's why he tried, knowing he didn't have much life and didn't think the Er would save him with the money. I am sure he could have been on Medicaid to cover the cost, then just hide the money out of his bank, so he let Ellie have the money, which was $100k, and his ex-wife that he cheated on with a guy, in which he was actually gay, not straight. I felt bad for him because he left her; she got cheated on and left her with a kid. She then wanted to be back in her life later on, but his daughter neglected him, resented him, and then later on, she built a bond with him at the end, and I was sad to see him die. She would call him names, but the mom didn't like people emotionally abusing him. I feel like he started getting obese because his liver died, and he even said at the end he was in love and he's sorry, he's really sorry, and he even got up. That story was so good, so touching, and so real. I cried multiple times during it. I love the part when he and his ex-wife have a serious talk and she's about to leave. He's saying, "I want to do one thing right in my life." The man who hit home hard, Brendan, deserved that reward and got it. As well as getting the Oscar, Fraser has won best actor prizes at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Critics Choice Awards. "I was in the wilderness," said Fraser on stage during his Critics Choice acceptance speech. "This movie, The Whale, is about love," he stated. In my opinion, I don't think anyone got treated badly by Fraser in Hollywood, which set his career back far. I was glad he had an opportunity to play that role, and I don't think anyone would have played the role or the like better than he would. Brendan Fraser has said that he felt Hollywood dropped him after he was groped and assaulted by Philip Berk, a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, at a 2003 luncheon. Fraser said the incident led him to withdraw from his high-profile lifestyle, and his popularity faded, causing him to disappear from screens and headlines. He felt reclusive and as if no one needed him anymore, and some fans questioned his career choices. However, Fraser has gradually returned to more high-profile roles and said that his experiences have made him stronger and more resilient. Sorry for the rant lol!
