Contrary to popular stories and legends this i s not the Tsiftetelli' (Chiftetelli) dance.
It is called the Antikristos dance !
This is a traditional song from Mikra Asia (Asia Minor) now occupied by Turkey.
The dance is called Antikristos, which means the dancers are facing each other.
The same dance is called Karsilamas in the Turkish language ...
Karsi meaning 'opposite' in Turkish so it the same name as the prefix 'Anti' also means opposite in the Greek language.
Many make the mistake and call this 'Tsiftetelli' (Chiftetelli) dance which a BIG mistake (an error !)
because the Tsiftettelli is a musical istrument (with two strings) and not the title of a song and/or the name of dance.
(People ask for the dance with the 'Tsiftetelli' because thay do not know the title of the song, or the name of the dance.)
The Antikristos dance has 8 steps divided into two groups of 4 (4 + 4 = 8 steps or Vimata in Greek).
If you replace the 4 with 'stop (or short pause') you will have: 1, 2, 3, Stop; 1, 2, 3, Stop.
So you can hear the metrima (measure of the dance!) in the music ! JUST LISTEN !

jimmy excellent explanation. You do a good job of explaining what this dance is. Too many Turks do not even know what the Turkish word means
