I just want to say this because it's a trap that I've fallen into. But sometimes a limiting identity or belief can also take the shape of "I'm not good enough to do what I want to do." And when people try to change they get depressed because that belief keeps attacking them and causing them to doubt all of the potential and strength that they ALREADY HAVE and is just WAITING for them to take action. They doubt the truly powerful parts of themselves instead of realizing that the fear and anxiety is the only thing holding them back. It really is true that your belief creates your reality. For about a year now, my confidence had been so low due to a whole series of "unfortunate" events, but something changed recently and I realized I dont want to keep living under the thumb of my own negativity and anxiety. Ive been so much better to myself recently and my vibes are higher than they have been in a long time! It sounds cliche of me, but just like you said, you create your own reality.
