    As soon as I saw your tail lights go dim I automatically suspected a ground issue like a connection with rust or corrosion underneath. After watching your video I was right. Very good video and detailed description. Great job and I'm glad you found the problem. Well at least you don't have to worrie about new circuit boards anymore because you replaced them. You should be good now for many more years to come.

    I've got the exact same problem with my 1992 GMC CK 1500 Sierra . I have tried to trouble shoot the problem several times. I removed my trailer hook up and I moved the ground to a cleaner location. It did half way work for a while, and sometimes they work some, but not near as bright as they should be. Tomorrow, I am going to go back under the truck and grind a place really clean to attach the ground .... thank you for your video !

      I apologize for not responding sooner. Per your video, I did have a faulty ground. When I barely wiggled the ground, it came off the screw. I used my grinder to bare the frame, replaced the eyelet ring, & self-tapping screw. They work great now. Driver side running light don't work any suggestions

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 10 měsíci +1

      If your driver side running light is not working, there could be a few potential issues:
      1. **Burnt Out Bulb:** The most common reason is a burnt out bulb. Check the bulb itself to see if it's still intact and functional.
      2. **Faulty Wiring:** Wiring issues, such as a broken or loose wire, could prevent the light from working. Inspect the wiring for any visible damage.
      3. **Bad Socket or Connector:** The socket or connector that holds the bulb might be damaged or corroded, preventing proper electrical connection.
      4. **Grounding Issue:** Poor grounding can affect the electrical connection and cause lights to malfunction. Ensure the light has a good ground connection.
      5 **Water Damage:** If water has seeped into the light housing, it could damage the bulb or wiring, leading to issues.
      It's recommended to start by checking the bulb, then moving on to the wiring, socket, fuses, and switches. If you're not comfortable diagnosing and fixing the issue yourself, it's advisable to consult a professional mechanic or auto electrician to properly diagnose and address the problem.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 3 lety

      Bryan- it may be a faulty lightbulb circuit board, or it could simply be that you have bad contacts in that lightbulb socket. It could be that the bulb itself is faulty. If it were me, I would start with replacing the bulb and putting a little bit of light bulb socket grease in prior to inserting the new bulb. If that doesn’t work you may want to pull the board and check it for problems, and perhaps replace it with a new one.

      Sounds like a circuitboard issue. I would start with checking the bulbs for the tail and brake lights. If they check out then you may need to replace the circuit boards. It might also be a wiring issue.

    Man I hope I'm missing a wire somewhere along the line, I just cleaned my ground surface and reconnected and still have no taillights and hyperflash on just the passenger side, no dash lights either... Very frustrating, haven't been able to drive at night for about 3 weeks now

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před 4 lety +2

      I’m fairly certain it’s a ground issue. I think there is an additional ground near the front of the truck. It’s more than likely that you have a bad ground wire leading to the tail light on the left side, passenger side. Yes It can be very frustrating.

      @@BudsSmartHome I'm curious why you didn't check the connectors to the tail light assemblies, before you went to the time and expense of replacing the tail light circuit boards? Also, when you say "you might have a bad ground on the passenger side", what specifically should be checked? Is there literally a pax and driver side ground cable location? I would've assumed it's only one actual ground bolt. Or are you checking for other corroded connectors, or a broken/damaged wire? I'm just not sure what I should be looking for. Thanks.

    My 97 sierra has fast flashing bulbs when i apply the brakes

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před rokem

      Could be one of three issues:
      1- Faulty brake light switch: The brake light switch, located near the brake pedal, is responsible for activating the brake lights when you press the pedal. If the switch is faulty or misadjusted, it can cause erratic brake light behavior. Consider having the brake light switch inspected and replaced if necessary.
      2- Wiring or grounding issue: Check the wiring harness and connections associated with the brake lights. Loose, damaged, or corroded wires can disrupt the electrical current, leading to abnormal flashing behavior. Similarly, poor grounding can cause electrical issues. Inspect the wiring and address any problems found.
      3- Malfunctioning flasher relay: In some cases, a faulty flasher relay can cause rapid flashing of the brake lights. The flasher relay controls the timing and rate of the flashing lights. If the relay is malfunctioning, it can cause irregular behavior. Consult the vehicle's manual or a professional mechanic to locate and replace the flasher relay.
      If you're unable to diagnose or resolve the issue on your own, it's recommended to consult a qualified mechanic or an automotive electrician. They will have the expertise and tools to identify the precise cause of the problem and perform any necessary repairs.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Před rokem +1

      One of your headlights likely share a ground with one of your turn signals. Therefore a weak ground will only allow one component to operate at a time, not both. Clean and tighten this ground to start with and go from there. The most common ground location for Chevy trucks is on the firewall. Other common ground wire locations include the door hinge, fender well, and battery tray. In some cases, the engine block may also be used as a ground location.
